All Tied Up Little Tenel Ka and certain OC, background story for The Plot of Fulfillment
Title: All Tied Up
Author: Darkwriter
Timeframe: Seven years after
The Courtship of Princess Leia
.
Characters: Isolder and Teneniel Djo, Tenel Ka, Delorr and Mirane Gardenia.
Genre: humor, vig, childhood memories
Keywords: Little Tenel Ka, Delorr Gardenia, rope, correlates to
The Plot of Fulfillment
.
Summary: Tenel Ka and Delorr Gardenia have their only play date, and Delorr ticks Tenel Ka off . . . so she ties him up.
Notes: This is the background story of what happens between Tenel Ka and Delorr (OC) as described in
The Plot of Fulfillment
. It’s not my best, but it describes what I want it to, and it should be fun to read. Enjoy!
DISCLAIMER: I do not own Star Wars . . . but I can dream can’t I? Anyway, not even my OCs are mine, as they are derived by the universe created by George Lucas and the cluster created by Dave Wolverton. Hapes rocks!
Tenel Ka fidgeted in the silk “young ladies’” dress she had been forced to wear. She didn’t know why she must look so proper for this play date; it was only a boy, and a cousin at that.
Her mother, the great warrior witch of Dathomir Teneniel Djo, struggled to fit into her robes. She pulled the wraps of her dress once again over her thin shoulders, straightening her robes about her waist. Tenel Ka knew for a fact that her mother despised Hapan gowns as much as she did, and she was grateful that she could relate.
“Now, Tenel Ka,” Isolder said, kneeling down to her level. “I would not have you participate in play dates with your cousins, but your mother and I have an important meeting with his mother, and it is good that you make a lasting impression on him.”
Tenel Ka nodded seriously. “I will not disappoint you, Father.”
Isolder smiled warmly, reaching out to ruffle her red-gold warrior braids. “Good. I knew I could count on you.”
Teneniel fussed with her hair adorned so intricately that the clans of Dathomir might gape in admiration. “We should not be long, daughter. I imagine I can win Colonel Gardenia to my side quickly. She will be the stepping stone to an easier reign here on Hapes. For us both.”
Tenel Ka wrinkled her nose. “Must I serve, as well?”
Teneniel sighed dramatically. “It is what your grandmother wishes.”
A guard poked her head inside Tenel Ka’s suite. “Mirane Gardenia is here with her son,” she announced.
Teneniel nodded. “Thank you.”
Mirane Gardenia greeted Tenel Ka’s father cordially, and he treated her with equal respect. Tenel Ka was certain that her father was gritting his teeth. He thought very poorly of his cousins, and he had done his best to shield Tenel Ka from their treachery.
Mirane pushed her son forward, and Tenel Ka struggled not to gag at the sight of the four-year-old boy. He was two years younger than her, understandably, and short and slightly chubby, not yet rid of his unwanted baby fat. Cowering behind his mother’s legs, his cheeks were red, his dark hair a complete array of tangles, and his green eyes wide, fearful of this sudden new environment. He clutched a holovid as if his life depended on it.
Teneniel bent down to look the boy in the eye, treating him with understood compassion. “What’s that you’ve got there?” she asked kindly.
The boy blushed shyly. “It’s a holovid.”
Teneniel raised her brows. “Oh really? What is it about?”
“The Royal Guard.”
Mirane patted her son’s cheek. “It’s Delorr’s favorite holovid. He hardly goes anywhere with out it.”
Isolder tugged the holovid from Delorr’s pudgy hands. “We’ll put it in.”
Teneniel and Mirane set Tenel Ka and Delorr on Tenel Ka’s cot next to each other, and Isolder activated the holovid.
“We shouldn’t be long,” Teneniel said. “Tenel Ka, you know the code if you need us.”
Tenel Ka nodded. “Yes, mother.”
After the adults left, Tenel Ka tried to concentrate on Delorr’s holovid, but she found the task impossible. It was a war movie, but the soldiers were clumsy, blasting at anything.
“This is stupid,” she declared.
Delorr balled his fists. “It is not!” he protested.
Tenel Ka glared at him. “They aren’t even following the guidelines of warfare. Their lines are inaccurate, and their tactics make no sense.”
“So what would you rather have?” Delorr asked, goading her.
Tenel Ka pointed at a guardsman on the holoscreen attempting to fistfight with a pirate. “Every sister in my clan on Dathomir could beat that man.”
“Could not!”
Tenel Ka would not be swayed. This boy knew nothing. He must be convinced that his heroes were frauds. Her father had told her to make a lasting impression, and that was exactly what she planned to do.
“I challenge you,” she said simply.
Delorr leaned away from her. “A challenge?”
“Yes. My battle tactics against yours.”
Delorr hestitated. “Well . . . okay. But don’t cry when I beat you.”
“I won’t.”
Because you will not defeat me.
She led Delorr to a safe space in her suite to fistfight, noticing her surroundings categorically. He lunged at her, arms flailing. Tenel Ka rolled her eyes. He needed to be taught how to fight.
She allowed him to tackle him, but then rolled over so that she was sitting on him. Too easy.
“Hey!”
“Never leave yourself open,” Tenel Ka advised.
She reached out with the Force and pulled a chair near them. Grabbing Delorr’s shirt, she lifted him onto the chair. He grabbed her wrists, trying to pry her hands from him, but she was easily stronger than him.
Next, Tenel Ka summoned a rope, which she kept in every room of her suite (for assassins). She kept Delorr against the chair with one arm while using the rope to tie him to the chair with the other.
“Hey!” Delorr struggled against the rope. “Let me go!”
“Do you still think that your tactics are better?”
“Yes! I just need to be trained!”
“You are half right,” Tenel Ka admitted, walking away.
“Where are you going?”
“Now would be a good time to study for my history test,” Tenel Ka said over her shoulder.
“You’re just going to leave me?”
“It appears that way.”
“But—
help
!”
Tenel Ka shook her head.
She was still studying in front of Delorr when the adults came back. Isolder gaped at them, unable to speak. He and Tenel Ka exchanged equally blank looks. Mirane shrieked.
“My baby!”
“Mommy!”
“What happened?” Mirane cried.
Tenel Ka blinked at her. “He needed to be taught a lesson.”
Mirane untied Delorr. “Oh, honey. Don’t worry. We won’t let this happen again.”
“I hope this doesn’t mean the alliance if off,” Isolder said.
“She tied up my son.”
Teneniel blinked back tears, finally speaking up. “These are just the Dathomirian ways, Mirane.”
As Mirane gasped, Isolder picked up Tenel Ka, bouncing her on his hip.
“But—“
“No,” Miran said. “I’m leaving.”
She left. After a moment of total silence, Teneniel turned to Isolder and Tenel Ka, beaming with motherly pride.
She ruffled Tenel Ka’s braids. “I’m so proud of you, darling. You did your clan well.”
Isolder sighed lightly. “I suppose she has. But this has cost us Mirane’s support.”
“Oh, I’ll fix things.”
“If you say so.”
“She’ll make a wonderful Jedi,” Teneniel said.
“Are we going there again?”
Teneniel smiled. “Not today. Would you like some spiced ale, Tenel Ka?”

Mirane seems more attached to her son than one might think of a Hapan Lady

How I love the first post. Yay!
magehoud: Well, the in next chapter, which I am typing up right now, Tenel Ka exchange some dialog that might make more sense if you have the whole backstory. And there you have it!
I'm glad you liked it.

LeatherNeck: Sorry! Got so excited when mage posted.
Mirane is a very gentle lady, and Delorr is her only son. Since she's farther down the line, she's a more respectable character. Delorr likewise, is very attached to his mother, because she was a very nuturing lady, up until she died when he was fifteen.
As you can see from TPOF, she did a wondeful job with him.

EDIT: That's not to say I like mage more. You and I posted at the same time, and the internet decided it wanted you to go first.

It's
spiced
ale. Meaning that all the alcohol is boiled out of it. Has your mom ever made you eggnog with brandy? They boil it, and you can still taste it. Besides, in one of the YJK books, Tenel Ka reminsces over drinking spiced ale by the fire with her parents.
Thanks! I love TK.

Ah, aha. This explains a lot. I loved how Tenneniel was proud of Tenel Ka even though it caused trouble.

Yeah, I thought that, in an instance like that, Teneniel could only BE proud.
Just a fun little note on the incidnet. When I started writing Delorr in The Plot of Fulfillment, I knew I wanted him to be afraid of Tenel Ka from something in their childhood, but I didn't know what. I started thinking about the kind of mischeif a six-year-old Tenel Ka would cause, and then there was no turning back. "Would she . . . oh, yeah. She DEFINITELY would."

Thanks!
And yes, that quote came through my dad. Whenever we started to say, "Da-ad. It's fine," he'd say, "You know what Uncle Fuzz used to say, don't you?"
"Yes Dad."
