Jacen's got his hands full with Ben ... adolescence + Mara's temper = a real loose cannon. Don't worry too much though, he'll come out just fine. Jacen paused for effect, "You are all familiar with our objectives, and you know well the proud tradition of the fleets you serve in, so I will not remind you of that you know by heart. I will tell you now that history is being made here, history that you are shaping. By standing with me and with the Alliance here today, you are all heroes. You are the sword that shall pierce the Covenant, the very blade of it's ruin. We shall smash through them like a vibroblade upon flimsi." Pausing again, he swallowed hard, "take us in, close to turbolaser range." "Aye, sir." the Corellian at the helm replied. "Launch our fighters." Tenel Ka added from her husband's side, taking charge of tactics. "Defender wing, target the Kuati Carriers; Poleaxe, Duelist and Long-arm squadrons, cover them; everyone else, engage at will. Red Dawn, Song of War, Pride of Gallinore, and Bloodwing, come about to 109 mark 220 and launch pulse-mass mines." "Gotcha, you slippery little schutta," Kyp growled as he squeezed the trigger, watching the crimson splinters obliterate the A-11 Vengeance he was pursuing. "Scratch another rib." Looping his fighter around to rejoin Cheriss and the rest of One Flight, he let loose a war whoop. "That's five down and only a few hundred or so to go." Cheriss ke Hanadi shot back, "So there's plenty for the both of us." "May the best pilot win." Kyp returned." "Majestic, Righteous, and Firebrand, form up on the Valiant." Tenel Ka ordered, "We're going to try to break through the center. Have eight squadrons of W-Wings cover us." "Aye, Ma'am." The weapons officer replied. "Sixteen! Seventeen! Eighteen! Nineteen!" Kyp shouted off each kill as he fired indiscriminately into a tight formation of A-11's en route to the left flank. "Twenty! Twenty-one!" "Kyp, I hate to interrupt your glory-hogging, but we've been called to break through the center with the Valiant." Cheriss snapped, "So stop hogging all the kills and form up. We've got to ... kriff ... I've got one on my tail." "I'll vape him for you." Kyp replied, whipping his W-Wing around to aid his lover. Pulling the trigger, he sent twin bolts of death into the lightly shielded Kuati fighter, which obediently disintegrated into a roiling ball of burning fuel and metal. "Got him." "Thanks. Let's go." As the tightly packed mass of Bothan Assault Criusers filled the forward viewer, the weapons officer shouted in triumph "The enemy carriers are all destroyed, and their fighters are being rapidly decimated. Our Battle Dragons have also routed the Kuati vessels on the left flank." "Good." Tenel Ka added, "Have them hit the Bothans from the left flank. Meanwhile, continue to close range with those cruisers ... and have our gunners target a point just forward of their hangar bays." "Aye ma'am" "And that includes our torpedoes as well, we're carrying them for a reason." Jacen added. "Aye, sir." Rising from his seat, Jacen walked forward, quietly observing the devastation his fleet was unleashing. He regretted doing so much damage, but the sooner this war was ended, the fewer lives were lost. "Your majesties?" The comm-scan officer nearly jumped out of her seat as she reported "We're receiving a transmission from the enemy flagship." "By all means, patch it through." Jacen and Tenel Ka said in unison. The scene of destruction was replaced by an image of a Bothan in a disheveled and bloodied admiral's uniform. "I am Admiral Ker'syin of the Assault Cruiser Blood of the Martyrs. I offer my fleet's unconditional surrender." "Accepted," Jacen sighed in immense relief as Tenel Ka ordered the fleet to stand down, "Do your people need medical assistance?" The Theoden resemblance was intentional, although I also put a bit of a "Braveheart" reference in there, too. I figured that Jacen would give command to Tenel Ka when the Hapan and Corellian forces are joined(which'll usually be the case from here on out) because she has more fleet-command time logged than he does - not that he's a slouch when the fleet is split into lesser elements for a special operation. I couldn't resist Kyp and Cheriss mirroring Legolas and Gimli ... It's only one more LOTR reference in a series that's chock full of them. And yeah, quality counts over quantity ... the starfighter battle was a complete rout ... not that the capital ship one wasn't, just that the capital ships didn't get kill ratios in the 30:1 range. Ker'Syin was wise to surrender, but it won't be that easy in the future ... others may go to the opposite extreme in the future. SilSolo posted: I'll be back with a real reply Take your time. 	Disclaimer: see first post. Season of Pain Chapter Six: Arrival on Bothawui "This is Ajira Hab'asi of the freighter Far Star, requesting docking clearance for Drev'Starn." Blaez Ald'Ruhn said, hoping the deception would work. "We're carrying 500,000 self-sealing stem-bolts and fifteen tons of Agrinium plating." "Acknowledged, Far Star. You are cleared for yellow section, landing bay forty-seven. A crew ready to unload your cargo will be standing by." The controller sounded thoroughly bored as he relayed instructions for the ersatz-Kuati freighter to land in the area reserved for military cargo. Their secondary objective would soon take care of itself - one in every hundred of the stem bolts contained a small, nearly undetectable tracking device, which would be used to trace Covenant fleet movements. The pair's primary objective would begin shortly thereafter - stealing military documents from the Combined Clans building. "Under way." Blaez responded. Switching off the comm, she turned to her master. "We're in." "Good." Leia Organa-Solo smiled as she applied the final touches to her disguise: a blonde-haired, blue-eyed Kuati noble featuring a crescent-shaped 'birthmark' partially encircling her left eye.
