	Epilogue: A gentle murmur floated up from the crowd gathered in carefully arranged rows in the meadow’s grasses. The sun shone brightly in the sky; a dazzling reflection of the joy that encompassed the group below. For a day, Jedi robes and Alliance uniforms had been left abandoned at the Jedi Enclave on Ossus, replaced by comfortable but more formal attire. The crowd was situated with the Fel Estate behind them, facing the multiple waterfalls that cascaded down the mountain face in the distance. Row after row of chairs were filled with the best and brightest the galaxy had to offer – all here for the same purpose: to celebrate the culmination of a romance years in the making. For Ben Skywalker, it was the happiest day he’d witnessed since his children’s births. His cousin, former master and pseudo-sister had finally found the peace and joy she deserved. And today, they would replace her somewhat sad and lonely life with one filled with love, hope and family. He focused himself in the Force and willed his eyes to stop misting over. He turned to his left, looking at the man who would finally join the Skywalker-Solo clan in official capacity. For the first time he could remember, Jag Fel looked nervous. Ben noticed a stray hair on the shoulder of Jag’s black coat and took a moment to brush it off. “Everything is perfect, Jag. Relax.” Jag turned to smile at him, lines of age gracing his face. “I’ll relax when you say ‘husband and wife.’ With Jaina, nothing is final until she says it is.” Ben had to smile at that. “She wants this too, remember? You’ve made it this far. Trust in her; trust in the Force.” Jag nodded at the bit of wisdom and took a deep breath. He turned to the men at his side serving as his witnesses. He clapped Gavin on the shoulder and smiled at Jak, Ben’s son Mattias and Valin Horn as he tossed a few playful words at them. Ben was glad to see how genuinely happy Gavin appeared, despite his previous misgivings. Just then, a movement caught his eye from the villa behind the group. Jaina and her entourage had finally emerged from the cottage, signaling the beginning of the ceremony. As the Bith music group in the back began to play a sweet song, the scene played out: Marissa, Meri Fel – with her new little one – and Tevel wandered down the small one after the other, taking their places to Ben’s right as Jaina’s witnesses. Finally, Cherith walked forward with her daughter, as Cala placed fresh flower petals on the path in front of them. Ben smiled as he watched. He’d been pleasantly surprised at Jaina’s discovery of Cala’s Force potential. In a few years, the girl would begin her tutelage at the Enclave. Finally, the moment had come. The gathered crowd stood as the music changed. Standing proudly, veiled in a floor-length translucent cascade of cream-colored fabric, was Jaina Solo. Despite the fact that her face was covered, Ben – and most of the crowd – could feel the joy and contentment that rolled off the bride in waves. She carried a simple bouquet of cream-colored Alderaanian roses – a tribute to her mother. Next to Ben, Jag stood stock-still clearly mesmerized by the view of his bride. As she approached the slope where they stood, her gaze shifted from Jag to Ben, her smile now clearly evident. Ben returned the smile as Jaina turned to Jag and took his hand. Ben began the ceremony, but it was clear that the couple before him heard little of what he had to say. They were intent on each other, simply staring through the veil and into each other’s souls. Tevel stood and began to sing the song she’d written just for the occasion. Her slender fingers picked at a stringed instrument Ben couldn’t remember the name of. It was similar to what he’d seen the Jedi Tionne Solusar use when he was little. If you wait for me then I'll come for you Although I've traveled far I always hold a place for you in my heart If you think of me If you miss me once in awhile Then I'll return to you I'll return and fill that space in your heart Remembering Your touch Your kiss Your warm embrace I'll find my way back to you If you'll be waiting If you dream of me like I dream of you In a place that's warm and dark In a place where I can feel the beating of your heart Remembering Your touch Your kiss Your warm embrace I'll find my way back to you If you'll be waiting I've longed for you And I have desired To see your face your smile To be with you wherever you are Together again It would feel so good to be In your arms Where all my journeys end If you can make a promise If it's one that you can keep I vow to come for you If you wait for me Tevel was a gifted musician and Ben was proud to call her his own. The song ended with a flourish of tears. Ben struggled to clear his throat and continue the service as he wiped his own tears away. “With the power vested in me by the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, I now pronounce you husband,” he glanced and Jag, “and wife.” His eye fixed on Jaina as they shared a smile. Turning back to Jag, his smile grew. “Jagged Fel, you may kiss your bride.” Jag reached down to lift the long veil and carefully flipped it up and over Jaina, revealing her light lavender shimmersilk gown with satin trim. The gown was strapless and Jag was obviously taken back by Jaina’s beauty once again. Jaina smiled up at him, the lines time had granted her forming around her eyes and on her cheeks. Tentatively, as if scared he would wake from his dream, Jag Fel moved in to place a tender kiss on Jaina’s waiting lips. She returned the kiss with a passion that was purely Jaina, throwing her arms around her new husband. Suddenly Jag picked her up, and the new couple spun lightly before Ben, still locked in their first married embrace. The sound of the crowd’s joyous laughter and cheers rose to the skies above, floating away on the wind. A perfect beginning. Fin. *Song lyrics belong to Tracy Chapman and her record company. Well, ladies and gentleman, we come at last to the end of this marvelous journey. Thank you to all of you who have enjoyed this – whether from day one, or sliding in on this, the last post. I have truly enjoyed our short time together: both getting to know you all and sharing this little plot bunny with you. I’ve learned so much and I hope that that is evident in future writings. (Or am I just reading too far in?) I thought maybe she was also talking about their relationship... they'd make it work. The epilogue was a sweet tie-up. A detail I particularly liked was that you kept everyone out of uniform. It just let them be people... and get them closer to normal than they'll ever get. “I’ll relax when you say ‘husband and wife.’ With Jaina, nothing is final until she says it is.” So Jaina. It was a bit sad that Han and Leia couldn't be there... but it is far-future... so it's understandable. I've never heard that song before, but I want to now. The lyrics were really fitting. This story's been a great ride. Thanks for taking us on it. It's almost made me want to start a story... almost.
