	Broken Genre: Drama, Romance Rating: G Characters: Jaina, Jag Time frame: Unifying Force AU Summary: Apart they are broken, yet together they fit just right. Just a little One Shot. A Jag and Jaina happy ending, because we just need something happy to read. I hope that this helps sustain you guys through the awful JJ drought. _____________________________________________________________________________________ [b]Broken by Mira_Jade The worst is over now and we can breathe again I wanna hold you high, you steal my pain away There’s so much left to learn, and no one left to fight I wanna hold you high and steal your pain ~Broken by Seether and Amy Lee Maybe it was due to their long acquaintance. Maybe it was the tell tale sign of the way that his boots crunched in the snow, and his breathe escaped his body in small, warm puffs of air. She could hear him approach, yet she liked to imagine that it was more than that that. It had to be the butterflies in her stomach that announced his presence. He was too much to just be known by the literal and tangible. It had to be more. For the way his aura in the force came up and brushed against her in the most delicious of ways was as real as any physical sign. She didn't turn, for she knew that it was him. The soft steps in the snow came to a stop, and she still didn't turn, instead opting to remain still as he wrapped his arms around her from behind, and she turned with a deep sigh to lean on his chest. Feelings rushed over her in molten waves, surrounding her in feelings of warmth, and a feeling of such security that she could only describe it as home. “We've finally won.” He said, his voice a silky whisper next to her ear, and she shuddered a shiver that had nothing to do with the cold as the hairs on her neck stood up, and she clutched her hands tighter over his. “I know.” She whispered, for what else could she say? He said nothing more, and she was content to bask in the warmth he emitted as her brandy brown eyes flicked over the snow strewn landscape before her. He'll always remind me of snow . . . . Seemingly cold and unreachable, falling all around you, yet never in your grasp. She smiled a small, lopsided grin that reflected happier times. Yet when you catch him, he'll just melt on the tip of your tounge. His arms tightened around her, almost as if he were trying to keep her with him by force alone, and she felt something foreign stir inside her. Would it be so bad to feel? Just once . . . . “I return to Csilla tomorrow.” He started awkwardly, and she tried not to shut her eyes in pain. He was leaving her . . . She lowered her head, and hoped that he wouldn't hear the tears in her voice as the butterflies in her stomach turned on her, and seemed to tear her up inside with vindictive razor wings. Feeling always hurts so bad though . . . . “I know.” She whispered, and the wind with the last flakes of winter's life blew her hair in her face . Her tears froze as they made small, stubborn tracks down her face. Maybe I'll bleed for this, and I'll prove my blood truly is red . . . She didn't want to let go, and yet knew she needed too. He was silent for a moment more, and she'd never know of the thoughts that plagued him. The thoughts of family and safe. The thoughts free from war, and seeing her on another planet covered in snow. How beautiful he thought she'd look with drops of Csilla's snow shinning in her hair . . . “I want you to come with me.” And that was it. No romantic speeches, no grand proclamations of love, for that was not who he was. He was simple, down to earth. He knew the way the galaxy worked, and was comfortable with his place in it. Yet now he just wanted a place right next to her. She was silent ass well, and the warmth that surrounded her seemed to chill sightly. The butterflies morphed, and she imagined that they were all demons. Clambering for her soul, and taunting her with what could be. He could be hers . . . she could be his . . . Yet face after face plagued her. Anakin, Chewbacca, the grief on her parents faces with every tragedy that struck so close to them. She saw Tenel Ka, and Tahiri, both struggling to come to gripes with the fact that they lost a loved one. Did she want that to be her? Did she really wanted to be a hero's widow? Did she want her children to grow up without a father? For that was the galaxy that they lived in - one filled with uncertainties and regret. She fought today so that tomorrow there would be one less battle to fight. It's so hard to fight alone though . . . She was silent, and he turned her around in his arms so that he could look down into her eyes. His eyes were so warm, so caring and full of hope. When she met him his eyes had been so cold. Did she really want to see the warmth leave them again? “I don't know Jag . . .” And truly she didn't. Csilla was so far away. Away from family and friends, away from all of the awful memories. Maybe she needed a vacation. A voice inside her head scoffed, then she needed a vacation to recover from that vacation. “Please.” He said softly, so softly that she almost didn't hear him, and the hope in his voice almost broke her. He raised a gloved hand to push a stray lock of hair out of the way, and she imagined she could feel herself melting. Why couldn't she? She knew she loved him. She had to be honest with herself. She wanted to spend the rest of her life with him. With him and a family, a home, a haven away from all of the wars that were almost impossible to escape. “Jaina.” He said softly. “I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I don't expect you to give up your life here for me, yet for now I need to return home.” His eyes were glowing with that special light reserved for those who were one step away from reaching their dreams. “I know that my family would love you.” She felt tears play in her eyes, and she said, “I love you too.” “Then will you come?” He spoke so earnestly, and she felt something inside her begin to soar as she ran further and further away from the decision that she had thought that she had reached. She wanted to go with him. She wanted to so badly . . . Then why didn't she? “Yes Jag.” Her voice was as soft as his, yet with a tremor of excitement in it that she couldn't hide, that she didn't want to hide. “Yes I'll go with you.” She felt such a wave of happiness pour from him that she very nearly felt swept away herself, his mouth worked, and yet no words were adequate enough to express his joy. His passionate eyes locked on hers a second before their lips met, and she felt herself float, and finally fall. Yes. This is what I want, this is what I need. There will always be dangers in the galaxy, uncertainty. There is no perfect setting for a family. Yet, if it is possible to die in a moment, then it must be possible to live as well . . . She smiled brightly as he pulled away. The first real smile she could remember in a long time, and he clutched her to him as he picked her up and spun her, his happy shouts were carried off by the wind as she laughed merrily in his ear. 	YES! Finally! thanks for giving us a happy end here! I could never understand the way they let their relationship end and I really hope that someone comes to his/her senses in the Profics as well.
