This is an amazing story. Absolutely captivating. Sorry to hear about loosing most of your story. I understand how that feels. You wouldn't believe how many papers I've lost this month alone. Anyway, I would love to be added to the PM list if at all possible.

Amazing story! A lot of interesting things have happened since the last time I read it.
Jaina gets more and more involved with the Empire, the secret negociation is about to start, the Sith have revealed themselves... I'm very much looking forward to more!

RE: Foreign Shores Unknown (Post-Tempest AU, J/J, H/L, Jacen, etc.) AUTHORS NOTE 2-11-08
And, it's back!
----------
If Jacen hadn’t been so worried about keeping up his appearance as the commander of the GAG, he would have slouched through the halls of the Jedi Temple. It was the last place in the Galaxy that he wanted to be. There were Corellian insurgents on the planet, minor skirmishes were being fought in the skies of a dozen worlds, and now there was the news that his sister had apparently joined the revitalized Empire. A meeting of the complacent, shortsighted Jedi masters was not even on his radar.
Again, Jacen decided against the Jedi robes. Instead he wore the matte black uniform of the Guard, supplemented by a long black cape that shimmered as it caught the light. As he stalked through the corridors, a door to his right slid open and a teenaged padawan stepped out. The apprentice stopped dead still as he caught sight of the Jedi Colonel approaching, cape swirling behind him. The young man took a step back as Jacen passed and jerked back even further to avoid being brushed by his cape. Jacen smiled.
I’m taking care of Allana’s training,
he thought to himself, amused.
Skywalker’s apprentices are afraid of a cape. My daughter’s better than that.
His amused died as he turned the corner to the Council chambers and saw Mara Jade Skywalker and Kyp Durron deep in discussion. He frowned. Those two were his biggest opponents on the Council- and the two that he least wanted to see. However, he would have to pass by them to enter the chamber, and he wasn’t yet secure enough in his position to ignore the presence of the other masters.
He approached. “Master Skywalker, Master Durron.” No inflection accompanied his greeting, no bows of respect, no smiles of camaraderie.
Mara half turned away from Kyp. “Jacen,” she said evenly, the informality just as calculated as his greeting.
Kyp followed suit. “Solo.”
Jacen moved to brush by them into the council chamber, but thought better of it. It would look better if he entered after the rest of the masters.
He inclined his head toward the open door. “After you.”
“Thank you, but no,” Kyp said. “I won’t be attending this meeting.”
“Really,” Jacen replied, his tone mild. “I wasn’t informed of any missions requiring the presence of a master.”
Mara interjected before Kyp could respond. “Masters are allowed to have private lives, Jacen.” She glanced at his black uniform, the uniform he was scarcely seen without. “But I’m not sure that the Guard knows what a private life means.”
A brief vision of grey eyes ran through Jacen’s mind before he pushed it away. “I see. Where are you going? And when are you returning?” Jacen asked.
Kyp opened his mouth, but again Mara interjected. “I really don’t see how that is any of your business.” Kyp closed his mouth and listened to Mara, somewhere between amusement and defeat. She continued, “Luke has granted him leave and the rest of the Council will find out just as soon as the meeting begins. Which you’re holding up.” With that, she pushed past both men into the Council chamber.
Kyp looked at Jacen and shrugged his shoulders. Lifting the duffle bag that had laid unnoticed at his feet to his shoulder, he walked away in the direction of the hangar bay.
Jacen watched him go. Lifting his hand, he activated his comlink. “Major Tarson.”
“Yes, sir?” came the prompt response of his private communications officer.
“Track a ship leaving the Jedi Temple. Under the name of Kyp Durron.”
“Yes, sir.” There was no hesitation considering the order.
Without another word, Jacen thumbed his comlink off. Squaring his shoulders to ensure that his cape fell right, he strode into the Council chambers. The doors closed behind him in a hydraulic hiss.
----------
If Jacen was startled by the large number of people in the Council chamber, he tried not to show it. Besides the normal gathering of master’s, the leadership of the GA was present. Cal Omas sat at Luke’s left hand, with Admiral Niathal and her aides seated along the far side. Instead of his usual place, Jacen found the only empty seat to be at the far end of the table.
This isn’t a meeting,
Jacen thought to himself.
It’s an interrogation.
Without a word, he took a seat. The seating arrangement had been designed to through him off balance. He would return the favor.
Luke opened the meeting. Uncharacteristically, he did not offer any personal remarks or words of greeting. Instead, he launched directly into the issue at hand.
“This meeting has been specifically called to address recent events. With the ongoing Corellian Crisis, the political situation here on Coruscant, and concerns about the revitalized Empire, it is absolutely necessary that we present a united front to the rest of the galaxy. I have spoken with Chief of State Omas, and he agrees with me. It doesn’t do anyone any good to have the Jedi, the military, and the government at odds with each other.” Luke paused as the assembled group realized that Luke had not included the Guard in his list.
As Luke paused, Omas took his place and continued. “We need a single, solid strategy.” He pointedly looked away from Jacen. “And we can’t afford to have any mavericks or groups pursuing their own agendas.”
It was a clear provocation. Jacen’s ire flared to life. This wasn’t a strategy session; it was an execution. If Luke and Omas had their way, there would not be a GA Guard by the end of the meeting and Jacen would be exiled to levitating rocks on some deserted asteroid. Even through his anger, though, Jacen recognized the brilliance of their plan.
They’re trying to provoke me,
he realized.
They’re trying to get me to lash out. Then they can claim I’m unreliable and rash.
Jacen determined not to give them what they wanted.
“I agree,” he offered. The room waited for him to continue, obviously expecting some sort of rebuttal to follow. Instead, Jacen clasped his hands on the table and leaned forward, signaling Luke and Omas to continue.
It was Niathal who broke the silence. “From a strategic standpoint, we have two concerns. First, obviously, is the rebellion in the Corellian sector. There haven’t been any major hostile actions for the past few weeks. We’re fairly certain that the Corellians have been using this time to recover and rebuild, like we have. Still, it would only take one wrong step to reopen hostilities. The second, and in my opinion more dangerous threat, is the Empire. In short, we don’t know what is going on there. We have the report of the death of our investigative team. It would seem to be open aggression, but we don’t have any other intelligence to base that on. The only thing we know is that we don’t know what’s going on.”
Corran Horn turned toward the admiral. “So what are you suggesting—that we just ignore what’s going on in Corellia to start another galactic civil war?”
“This one thinkz that we are already in another civil war,” Saba Sebatyne offered. No one responded to her statement, but it hung heavy in the air.
“All I’m saying is that a war on two fronts is the last thing that we need,” Corran concluded.
“I agree,” Jacen repeated. A low murmur rippled around the table. However, instead of directing his comments toward Luke or Omas, or even the rest of the Jedi Council, he looked towards the aides and adjuncts that lined the walls. “The last thing I want to do is risk the lives of my men in a battle that doesn’t need to be fought.”
“But,” Jacen continued, “there is something that we need to take into account.” He threw Luke and Omas a calculated look, then stood. He paced around the table, hands behind his back. “Corran is right. We can’t afford a war on two fronts. And, personally, I have a problem buying into the idea that this “new” empire will be as benevolent as it wants to make us think. But that is neither here or there. What we need to focus on now is Corellia.”
Jacen stood and begin to pace the length of the room, aware of his uncle’s wary gaze. He paused and collected his thoughts. “The greatest threat that we could face would be a combined Corellian and Imperial force. I’d say it’s not only possible, but likely. The only way to prevent that threat- and the long, bloody war that would follow- is to end the Corellian uprising now.”
He had planned his pacing. Jacen stopped directly behind Luke and Omas, forcing them to crane their necks to look at him.
The tension in the room built. Just when it seemed that someone would have to break the silence, Jacen’s low voice whispered across the conference room.
“I know just how I am going to do it.”
-----------
If any of the citizens on the street could have seen the images in the mind of Colonel Solo, they might not have been as willing to step aside as the officer strode down the crowded walks. All they say was one of the most famous men in the galaxy, clearly on his way somewhere. Some stepped aside out of courtesy and respect. Some stepped aside out of fear and loathing. The rest stepped aside simply because everyone else did.
Jacen didn’t notice any of them. His mind was still focused on the meeting he just left. Both the Jedi and the government officials in the room pressed him on his plans to defeat the Corellian forces, but he didn’t offer any details. It was not like he could say that the final strategy came to him in the midst of a Sith inspired meditation. Somehow, Jacen assumed that Luke would not be inclined to accept that answer.
Cal Omas was desperate to end the crisis. Even as Luke pushed him to be cautious, he handed over every bit of materiel that Jacen could think to request.
Now, Jacen had a war fleet at his disposal and free reign to use it. He had the support of his troops. Most importantly, he had received the vision.
Against a black backdrop dotted with stars, flashes of light- green and red- sped between burning hulks of ships…the view magnified, as if he were moving closer…the flashes of light became defined, dangerous beams and he could identify specific ships amongst the wreckage…a solar panel blown off a TIE fighter…the smoldering remains of a Bothan Cruiser…a battered Hapan Battle Dragon limped desperately away from the debris…the Millennium Falcon, almost split in two, drifted over the intact bow of the Anakin Solo…jarringly, the view receded, showing the scope of the battle and the alignment of ships and battle lines…in the distance, Jacen recognized the five planets of the Corellian system…just as Jacen marked the strategy of the battle , the scene flashed white…a voice thundered in Jacen’s mind, pushing all thought away except for a single ringing thought, a single name…
All remembrances of the vision were pushed aside as Jacen reached the run-down storefront that Lumiya had recently claimed as a safe house. Instead of suppressing his annoyance at the older woman’s summons, Jacen reveled in it. After rousing himself from his vision, Jacen could see the path to victory laid out before him. It was as if he was playing dejarik and knew every move his opponent would make. No longer was it a matter of if the Corellians would be destroyed, but simply a question of when. Jacen was confident. This meeting with Lumiya served only to delay him.
The vision was confirmation that he had nothing else to learn.
Lumiya stood in the middle of the back room, her impatience a clear match for his annoyance. Although her features were veiled, her body language made her displeasure obvious.
“So kind of you to take time from your busy schedule, Colonel Solo.”
Jacen brushed aside her impatience. “I was in a meeting with Skywalker and Omas.”
“And? Are things proceeding according to our plan?”
Taking a step closer to the older Sith, Jacen could not keep a small, hard smile from stealing across his features. “Our plan? No.
My
plan? Absolutely.”
“What do you mean? This is not the time to deviate. Our time is near. I have foreseen it.”
“Oh, I doubt you’ve foreseen this.” Jacen took another step closer and casually reached toward the lightsaber hanging at his side. Pulling it off his belt, he thumbed it on. The red glow illuminated the shock on Lumiya’s face.
“Who do you think you are? I am…” Lumiya never finished hissing out her statement. With one swift move, Jacen’s blade burned through flesh and metal, pulled down and across all her major organs and cybernetic processors. Lumiya looked down at the red blade fatally protruding through her chest.
Jacen leaned in close and whispered in her ear. “I am Darth Caedus…” With a brutal move, he wrenched his saber away. “And you are irrelevant.”
He stood over the dying woman as she struggled to summon enough of the Force to heal her wounds. Finally, the wheezing and rattles quieted. Jacen brushed a tendril of the Force across the body. Lumiya was gone. Reaching down, he seized the lightwhip from the Sith Lady’s body and left the mess for someone else to clean up.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the PM! It's great to have you back.
And the plot thickens! As usual, this is how I wish the canon was going.
Jacen's baaaaaaaaad... But you've really got him down pat. The evolution of his mindset is really interesting, and Lumiya's death was chilling! And he did it without even flinching...
Ooooh.

You're back!
*does fic-return happy dance*
I love this story and was bummed when DRL dragged it off...but it's back!
The way you write Jag and Jaina is awesome, and the rest of the Imperials are a scream too, especially Davert.
Your Jacen gives me chills....and makes me a little
but he should because he's the bad guy.
Bravo! You've made Darth Caedus evil. You've beat the pants off Del Rey on that one!
Can't wait for more and could you add me to your PM list?
Thanks

Oh, this is quite the unexpected and different twist. Jacen is totally out of control, but I'm glad he is the one to kill Lumiya. She certainly deserves it.
I wonder what Jacen's plan is? And how come Luke agreed to it... I'm sure it's nothing good for Jaina and her parents.

THey're right - Jacen is particularly nasty. I can't believe Luke allowed them to give him all that power - desperate or not.
