Cool! Liked how Luke was musing about always dealing with some chasm or another.
Such trust and confidence that they have in each other! But then again, that's Luke and Mara. They are two halves of the same heart.

I hate cliffhangers, if that counts as one. XD
Great job though. I'm looking forward to more!

I hope Mara can catch him. I just do not want to think that Borg are going to come out from somewhere and distract her. Sounds like a trap to me. Now they are seperated and The Queen has her quarry. Hope I am wrong but the trip to the shuttle seemed to easy and the gapping hole was to well placed. Super job and thanks.

Jade: Yes, at leats one of Yoda's lessons really appears to have been taken to heart.
smiley: Let's just say that with me as an author, this fic isn't guaranteed a smooth finish. Then again, perhaps they'll make it out without further incident after all.
divapilot: You didn't expect any less than that complete trust, and I won;t give you any less.
Petra: Yes, let's hope so indeed.
Kara: Luke's certainly seen his fair share of chasms.
Sabriel: I'd say it certainly counts as a cliffhanger, but not as evil of one as some in this fic have been.
FLYSWATTER: While I won't say that Luke and Mara have things made, they do seem to be into the home strecth.
Mara: They're almost out, but can they get out before the capital ships blow the cube to pieces?
ClockWork: Actually, the title refers to the intergalactic void that the Enterprise had to cross.
tannim: I wouldn't put it past her.
Leona: It isn't going to be easy, but Luke has faith in the Force.
This week's post was delayed to to spectacular weather that I just couldn't avoid taking advantage of. So even though it's a couple days late, I hope it's worth the wait!
"Luke and Mara can make it out, but we've got to give them more time," Corran urged.
"Commander Horn, given the general state of the Borg collective, we must take action now and destroy the cube," Data said.
"We cannot allow them the time they need to generate a new Queen," Riker added.
"We also can't sacrifice the founder of the Jedi Order without evidence that the Borg will recover before Luke and Mara can get out of there," Kyp said. "Much as I may have disagreements with Luke about our direction, I'm not willing to sacrifice him without a pretty good reason."
That's a relief, Kenth thought as he listened to the conversation from the bridge of the Ralroost. He turned to Admiral Kre'fey. "Are our sensors showing any sign that the Borg cube is getting ready to power up again?"
"No, but I'm afraid that doesn't mean much," Kre'fey said. "Captain Picard, based on your previous experiences with the Borg, are they preparing to attack us again?"
"Admiral, the Borg are driven by a single will, a single goal. They seek nothing more than complete dominion over all life. They are driven by one will, the will to conquor. As long as they exist, they will pose a threat to all free-thinking people of the galaxy, both yours and mine."
"Then I'm afraid I have to agree with Commander Riker," Kre'fey said. "Much as I hate to think of destroying someone who fought so valiantly to create the peace that we currently enjoy…"
"Then you'll have to do it without us," Wes Janson said. "I'm not going to order my squadron to destroy someone that many of them consider a hero."
"Janson, that couyld be construed as an act of treason," Kre'fey said.
"Actually, Admiral, my squadron's not officially associated with the New Republic, and therefore not subject to the commands of its officers."
"You'll have to do it without us as well, Admiral," Kenth said. "I won't order the death of the man who first taught me to use the Force."
"You won't have to, Kenth," a voice came through the comm system, one that was both instantly recognizable and greatly welcome. "Neither Mara nor I have any intention of being aboard the cube when you blow it up."
"Just give us one more minute to get clear," Mara's voice came through. "If we aren't out by then, we aren't going to be coming. And if that happens, please, blow the cube to Mustafar. I've seen these Borg up close, and I have no desire to become one of them."
"As you wish," Kre'fey said. "We'll hold fire for now. And may I say how very welcome it is to hear your voices."
"As long as they're still ours," Luke said. "For a moment, I didn't think we were going to be able to achieve our goals. But the Force was with us."
"May it long continue to be so, Master Skywalker," Kre'fey said, then cut the connection. He turned his violet gaze on Kenth. "Jedi Hamner, if I ever hear such blatent disregard for command procedure on my bridge, I will personally throw you out the nearest airlock, without a vacuum suit. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes, Admiral. I hope I'm never given cause for such words."
++++++++++++
That's all for now. More will be coming next week.
Force be with you,
Tych_sel

Oh, mega squee!!! That was soooooo close!!! Horray for the rogues and jedi not blindly following orders. I can certainly understand their fears about the Borg but... gotta give my honies a chance to get out of there.
