Jade_eyes: The Jedi and the Wraiths aren't exactly known for following orders to the letter. They're at their best when thinking outside the box.
Kara: Well, they won;t be killed yet. But if that cube looks like it's ready to go on the offensive again, expect Picard & Co to be leading the charge.
Petra: The Borg could self-destruct, but they'd only do that if they found another way to survive.
Sabriel: Sorry about the shortness of the post, but the next one is ready, so read on!
divapilot: I agree, wholeheartedly. Just let Luke and Mara get off the cube first.
tannim: Trust me, you don't want to see Kre'fey become a Borg. Might not be as bad as Wolf 359, but trust me, it could prove more than any of the Jedi could handle.
Emelin: Glad you've had a chance to catch up. Hope you'll be able to hang on as we approach the end.
Leona: Glad you liked it.
Okay, here comes the next post!
Mara watched as Luke leapt out into the open space, and prepared herself for what was likely to be the most important demonstration of Force power she'd ever engaged in. She felt his movement, and where she needed to be in relation. She felt him reach to top of his arc, and felt him begin to fall. Then she reached out with the Force to take hold of him, bringing him softly to the deck beside her.
"Nice work," Luke said. "I have to admit, I've never felt anything like that."
"Let's just hope that you don't need to again for quite some time," Mara said. "I don’t want to make a habit of being your safety net, Skywalker."
"You really think that's how I thought of you?" Luke said, then caught sight of the grin that was tugging, almost imperceptably, at his wife's lips. "You're doing it again," he said.
'Doing what?" Mara asked, batting her eyes in what she hoped appeared to be innocence.
"Playing with my emotions," Luke said.
"Skywalker, I don’t know what you're talking about." The deck beneath them shuddered as another shot hit the cube. "Let's get going. I don’t think we have much time left."
"Let's find out," Luke said, pulling his comlink from his belt. He thumbed it on.
"I won't order the death of the man who first taught me to use the Force," Kenth Hamner's voice said. Luke covered the comlink's mike.
"That doesn't sound good," he said.
"Sounds to me like they're planning to destroy this thing, whether we get out or not," Mara said. "I think you'd better let them know that we're on our way."
"You won't have to, Kenth" Luke said. "Neither Mara nor I have any intention of being aboard this ship when you blow it up." He looked at Mara. "How far away do you suppose the shuttle is?"
"Not far," Mara said. "Though with these corridors…"
"Then we'll have to hurry," Luke said. "At least the Borg won’t know about our ability to slow down time relative to others."
"It could work," Mara said. "At least it has the advantage of not having been tried before. All right, I'm ready whenever you are." She took the comlink from him. "Give us a minute to get clear. If we aren't out by then, we aren't coming. And if that happens, please, blow the cube to Mustafar. I've seen these Borg up close, and I have no desire to become one of them."
"As you wish," came the deeper voice of Admiral Kre'fey.
"May the Force be with you both," Corran added. "And Luke, you'd better get out of there alive, otherwise Kyp and I are going to drive each other crazy."
"I thought I'd trained you better than that," Luke said. "Skywalker out." He flicked the comlink off. "Let's get the blazes out of here, before were wind up truly borked."
++++++++++++
Okay, that'll do for now. I'm going to be on vacation next weekend, so I won;t be posting. But I might be able to get some writing done, and have a double post for you the following week.
Force be with you,
Tych_sel

OK, I missed that earlier. They can slow down time relative to others? Well, ain't that a useful trick!
Time to get into the flyer and let's hope for another happy landing. With a big old bad Borg cube exploding to smithereens in the background.

I hope you have a great time on your vacation. I wish I remembered what a vacation felt like. Sorry to say that I have not had one in over nine years. No wonder I'm nuts. Loved the posts. Especially L/M's conversation. Seems like a walk in the park though on The Cube and momenterally(sp?) taking the Queen out. I have to think that The Borg have to be really at a disadvantage being in a strange galaxy dealing with unknown beings. Not to mention The Force. I also think that you are going to put an interestiong twist into the plot that is going to make me think; "WOW! Never would of thought of that." Kyp and Corrin having to make nice. Great! Good job on both posts and thanks.

Kara: Oh, I'm sure that someone aboard the Enterprise is starting to get an itchy trigger finger. But Luke and Mara have to get off, don't they????
Sabriel: Glad to have gotten you hooked. The next post is ready, so by all means, read on!
Petra: Glad you're ready for the double post, 'cause it's here!
Jade: Amazing how well she fits into that role, isn't it?
divapilot: That's perhaps how someone who isn't Force-sensitive might view Force Speed.
Leona: A clear path? That would be too easy...
FLYSWATTER: The Borg are at a disadvantage, but I wouldn't expect it to last too long.
Okay, as promised, here's the double post, to make up for the fact that there wasn't one last week.
Legs, arms, and torso rose from concealment in the floor, snapping together in a fashion that would have seemed far too factory-like for most organic beings. But the Borg had never claimed any fear of technology; they rather embraced it. As the body neared completion the head and shoulders of the recipient appeared, the metal-coated pine moving in a sinous fashion that would have reminded some of a snake. The face was emotionless, the eyes closed.
Cabling lowered the biological form to the technological, and as the spine slid inot place, the eyes opened. The new Borg Queen took her first breath, and tested her new form. I will not make the mistakes of my predecessor, she vowed. She was too obcessed with Locutus, with finding an equal. But these small-minded beings are not worthy of such elevation. As drones, they cannot endanger the Collective.
She stepped out from the enclosure, the servos in the legs of her new form whirring so softly that only one with enhanced hearing would have been able to notice. She looked to the pair of drones that had stood guard while her form was being assembled, and they moved off. She could feel the chaos within the Collective, and knew that time would be required to restore order. But time was something she did not have; she had felt her cube being assaulted as the ships outside pummelled it.
The drones became her eyes as she searched the cube, for the ship would no longer exist had the Jedi been able to escape. They had to be here somewhere, and she thought she had a brief glimpse of them, little more than a blur. She issued a silent command for the drones to pursue the fleeing Jedi, then continued her search. After all, it was apparent now that the Jedi were too quick for the average drone. Just one more aspect that the Jedi could bring the Borg closer to perfection once they had been assimilated into the Collective. But right now, she needed to find the ship that the Jedi had arrived in, the ship that they presumably planned to depart in.
She caught sight of the Federation shuttlecraft, and began moving drones into position. The damage to the cube was considerable, and the Collective's enemies had no doubt been aided by the death of the previous Queen. Luring the Jedi so deep into the cube had been a mistake; they should have been assimilated as soon as they were clear of the shuttle. The Queen realized this, and would not make the same mistake. The wall of drones surrounding the shuttle was deep. It should prove enough to halt even the most determined of escapees.
With her defenses in place, it was now time o begin herding the Jedi. She began to move drones into corridors that would allow the Jedi access to other parts of the cube, essentially creating a path that would lead the Jedi towards the point she wished them to arrive at. Sooner or later, she would feel them merge in to the collective consciousness of the hive, as they felt the bite of the assimilation talons. And once she had access to their Force, she would see this new galaxy become Borg. And with an entire galaxy at her command, she would finally exterminate Species 5618.
I think I'll oversee the assimilation of the Jedi personally, she decided. There is no reason to risk something going wrong again. Because if something would go wrong, it could prove disastrous for the Collective.
++++++++++++
"We've got another drone approaching," Mara said, and she pollowed right on Luke's heels as he ducked down another, vacant side passageway.
"This place has more side routes than a Hutt has ticks," Luke said. "I'm beginnign to wonder if we're going to be able to find our way back to the shuttle." Getting back had seemed so simple before, but almost as soon as Luke had landed, the drones had started to flock in their direction.
"Probably best we avoided a confrontation," Mara said. "The less they see of our lightsabers, the happier I'll be."
"Yeah, somehow, I don't think seeing the Borg adapt to our sabers would be a good thing, But I'm starting to get…"
"Don't say it," Mara said. "Bad things always seem to happen whenever someone finishes what you were about to say."
"Good point," Luke replied. "Maybe I should add that to our training regimen."
"I don’t see how it could hurt," Mara said. "Though it might make for an interesting lesson. 'What not to say in dangerous situations…'"
"Now you're just having fun at my…expense." He slowed so suddenly that Mara nearly ran into him.
"What's wrong?"
"The shuttle," Luke said. "There's about a hundred Borg between us and it."
"There's no way that they could have recovered quickly enough to mass such a force. I mean, we had them chasing us…"
"Or herding us," Luke said. "Someohow, I think they managed to restore their Queen."
"Impossible," Mara said. "She took a lightsaber thrudt through the face. There's no way that she could have survived."
"Then they must have created a new Queen," Luke said. "Because it seems like they're a whole lot more coordinated than they were before."
"You're right. So how the kriff do we get out of here now."
"I suppose there's only one way," Luke said. "We're going to have to go through them, whether we like it or not. And this isn't going to be like cutting down stormtroopers either."
++++++++++++
That's all for now, I'm afraid. More will be coming next week.
Force be with you,
Tych_sel

Yikes, rather like that Greek myth (I think it was a hydra)--or a medusa where you cut off one head and another one grew back so you were never finished ... eeek!!
