AWESOME!!!!! I loved the whole thing!! This dark, twisted Jacen and the powerful Luke duking it out.
"Jacen, the child he'd watched grow into manhood, had plunged into insanity."
"No smile of triumph there, no gloating on how he'd injured the Grandmaster of the Jedi Order, just business and a dogged determination that was more chilling than any madman's laughter."
Those two lines are just wow, hit the nail on the head with those descriptions and the type of villian Jacen has/can become. Gave me shivers. This story rocks.

Wow! What an update! It was exhausting, but exhilirating! 
Mara to the rescue.
He jumped over the central podium, hoping to keep Jacen at arm's length a little longer. As he did, he could almost feel the buzz of danger grinding against his connection with the Force. In the electronic equipment lining the wall behind his back, the potential threat felt strong, and seemed to be the centerpoint of menace in the room.
Jacen couldn't get to him easily without leaping across the console and that would leave his nephew vulnerable. He looked furious, a blaze in his red-yellow eyes. He kept slashing at equipment, trying to reach Luke by hacking away at the barriers, and then flinging the pieces at him with the Force. The broil of melted fiberplast filled the air and there were sparks and growing smoke everywhere.
The ache of his injuries started to edge into agony again. But Luke wasn't about to be overcome so easily. With a great effort, he shoved the pain aside, concentrating instead on Jacen's actions. He backed up slowly, moving toward the exit, keeping an eye on the glowing doorway, ready to escape as soon as there was an opening.
As one large piece of machinery skidded past and crashed to the floor, Luke said, "Jacen, it doesn't have to be this way. You're ill. You've been blinded by Sith lies. They've twisted your mind..."
Jacen's laugh was harsh, rasping, "Blinded? I don't think so. You are the one who has been blinded. By weakness."
"Compassion isn't weakness, Jacen, but strength." He eased back, keeping distance between them. "But it's not too late. Come back with me. Together we can figure out how to end this war without...."
He knew that his nephew wasn't listening, that he was likely too far gone with blood-lust at the moment to listen to him. But until there was no hope, he had to try. "Jacen, please.."
That's Mara for you!

wow, great update.
Jacen is scary... both in his insanity, and in his power. but he's also very in character, he's not happy about killing his Uncle, but he's going to do it anyway (or at least try) because he really thinks it will help.
hopefully your muse sticks around this time, this is a great story.

Wonderful work! Well worth the wait!
That Jacen was willing to sacrifice his own family was horror enough but that he deliberately chose to become a Sith, knowing their history of endless wars, their passion for relentless devastation, was appalling.
Absolutely! Really Jacen! You chose to be a Sith!  He basically reasoned his way to the darkside!
That he had been persuaded into this course of action was obvious and Luke had to wonder, not for the first time, if he was under some kind of mind-control. Sith were known to project hallucinations and warp perceptions over long distances. Lumiya, that dark Lady, was adept at mind tricks and lies, casting her net of deceit far and wide. If she had caught Jacen, twisted him somehow, it would explain this madness.
I think that’s called denial Luke!
Whatever the reason, it would be highly unlikely that Luke could talk him out of it in the heat of battle. He needed time, more than just to survive. He needed time to figure out how to reach Jacen and turn him back to the Light. Somehow.
Classic Luke, you’re right...not Obi-Wan at all.
He knew that his nephew wasn't listening, that he was likely too far gone with blood-lust at the moment to listen to him. But until there was no hope, he had to try. "Jacen, please.."
Jacen is crazier than Vader. But what saved Luke in ESB was that Vader knew it was his boy, and that was his weakness. He couldn’t bring himself to kill his son. Jacen has nothing like that to stop him in his hate!
Luke had anticipated it. With a great effort, he met power for power. For a few moments, they were equally matched - hands raised, almost touching. But he wasn't Grandmaster for nothing.
I like that. I liked it in ROTS too, it was a cool demonstration of how equal their power is...now i really wonder what you have planned for next. How will they apprened him?  I'm sure Mara will figure something out!

Great fight scene. Poor Luke, grieving for the boy Jacen had been, even while he is doing his best to kill you. I don’t know if that makes Luke a master of compassion or king of denial. I am sure Mara would say the latter.
Excellent post, and worth the wait.

Excellent!! A hundred times better than the so-called pro books. I was agonizing right along with Luke.
But he wasn't Grandmaster for nothing.
Even amidst the fury of the battle, this line made me smile. And dare I say it -- I was glad Luke won on his own. Though I doubt this is the last confrontation that either he or Mara will have with Jacen.

It was not, however, any of the potential rescuers she would have expected.
It was Luke.

Wow! Excellent work--what a battle! But... what's next? 
I can't imagine how Luke felt, fighting against the nephew he loves. He fought Vader and there was love there, but it was different--the love was more of longing for a connection than an actual connection like Luke and Jacen have. Very intense.

That was one of the best lightsaber duels I think I've ever read.
Pure brillance and suspence. I loved it!!!
You really did have me on the edge of my seat the whole time.
I loved the powerful Luke vs. the insane Jacen.
I agree with iamobiwan...Jacen is crazier than Vader ever was. She's right in saying that he reasoned himself to the dark side and really that is what makes Jacen potentially as dangerous as Palpatine.
But let's hope, the Skywalkers can redeem him.

Wonderful job of painting a picture for us of how crushed Luke is at losing the Jacen he knew and loved.  Wonderful fight scene as well.

Wow, what a fight. I could really see Luke's desperation to stay alive, but also his desire to reach Jacen, somehow. I have to wonder if his thoughts ever went to his fights with Vader, or if he will reflect on that sometime after. I also wonder what Ben's reaction will be -- if Jacen will be able to twist this since Luke is the one standing there with saber in hand and Jacen is defenseless.
