	Title: Star Wars:The Parent Trap Special Edition Author(s): Jedi_Liz and NYCityGurl under the name Sera_And_Shae Timeframe: Begins about 8 years after Battle of Endor (the Prologue) Characters: Luke Skywalker, Mara Jade, Shae Jade, Sera Skywalker, various others Genre: Romantic Comedy Keywords: Luke, Mara, romance, parent trap, twins Summary: Two girls with red hair and blue eyes meet at summer camp and discover their similiarities go deeper than their hair and eyes. First Note: The original 'Parent Trap' plot belongs to Disney and its respective company. 'Star Wars' belongs to George Lucas. We're just playing in the sandbox for awhile. Sera and Shae are original character created by Jedi_Liz. 2nd Note: This is a rewrite of the fic Jedi_Liz wrote in 2001. Star Wars: The Parent Trap Prologue Mara leaned over the crib and stroked her daughter's soft cheek. Sera sighed in her sleep and happily continued sucking on her thumb, unaware of her mother's misery. "I love you so much, my little darling," she whispered. "No matter what happens, I'll always be your mother, and I'll always love you." Mara kissed the three-month-old, and let her fingers gently brush her soft red hair, the exact color of her own. She couldn't believe that she was leaving her beautiful, perfect little girl behind. She choked back a sob as tears escaped and rolled down her cheek. She pulled away from the crib while she still could and made her way over to Luke. He kissed the child he was holding and handed her to Mara. "Ready to go?" he asked shortly. Mara nodded, not trusting herself to speak. "All right, then." Luke sighed unhappily. "Goodbye, Mara," he said, moving away from her. "Goodbye." Mara picked up her duffle bag and slung it over her shoulder, being careful not to disturb Shae, whom she held with one hand. As she walked out of the door to the apartment she shared on Yavin IV with Luke, both babies woke up and started to wail. * Luke met his sister's eyes through the hologram as she spoke. "You two couldn't have worked it out?" Luke shook his head. "We were constantly fighting. I have an Order to run, and she wasn't content staying here on Yavin IV; she wanted to be off doing Talon Karrde's business." Leia sighed. "And the girls?" "Sera is staying with me, and Mara took Shae." "And when will you two see each other and your other child again?" Luke shrugged. "I don't know." "Luke!" "It was the only thing we could think of!" Luke burst out. "If something ever happens, we have ways to get in touch with each other, but right now we don't want to see each other." Leia frowned at her twin brother. "You've separated your children, and neither of you will get to see one of them. That's not the way to raise children, Luke, especially twins." "It was all we could think of," Luke said, exhausted. He ran his fingers through his hair and heard Sera crying in the background. "I have to go, Leia." "I think you're making a mistake, both of you." Luke shrugged. "It's our mistake to make." He turned off the holoprojector, but in his heart he was crying out for Shae . . . and her mother. * Karrde looked up when he heard a knock on his office door. "Come in!" he shouted. The door opened and Mara strode through, holding a bundle in her arms. "This is an interesting surprise," her former boss said, leaning back in his chair. "What happened to Skywalker?" "It didn't work out," Mara said shortly. Karrde wisely didn't press her further. "And you've come here . . ." "To see if you still want me," Mara said, a little uncomfortable with the situation. She didn't like asking for charity. Karrde smiled. "For my second-in-command, always." He nodded to the baby she was carrying. "Your daughter?" "Shae, yes." Karrde supposed that the other one was with Skywalker. He wondered what had happened and why Mara had been willing to leave her daughter behind, but he decided that this wasn't the right time to ask. "Then let's get the two of you settled in." Mara was determined to put a life together for her and Shae. 	Aw, that's so sad. Poor girls, poor Luke, poor Mara. I'm really interested. And it's funny, because I was thinking of the movie a few days ago. If you're doing PMs, please put me on the list. I'm glad Kardde accepted Mara back and didn't pry for more information. I really can see him do almost anything for Mara. 	Hehehehe I think I know exactly where this might go.... so can I have a PM as well when you update. Only one thing you said "The original 'Parent Trap' plot belongs to Disney" , but I guess they have originally borrowed it from the German author Erich Kaestner (1899-1974) Das doppelte Lottchen, 1949; in English, Lottie and Lisa, adapted into film as The Parent Trap in 1961 and 1998. I can tell you I once found the book my mother owned back when she was a child. 	Sera & Shae what pretty names!!! So sad they couldn't work it out, though. I always thought Luke and Mara were too stubborn to give up on a commitment. I guess their solution is sorta the best, but the twins will certainly feel shorted of each other and the other parent when they discover each other. Can't wait for the antics and the switch!!!!!! Oh, BTW, in the Parent Trap movie, the dad had a girlfriend!!!!!!!!!!! ARGH!!!!!!! It's NOT... yikes!!! Don't tell me! Hey there, author #1 making an appearance! You should have seen the lists of names I had before Sera and Shae were chosen (last summer, in fact, if you notice when I registered the username). I just couldn't recall the name (its mentioned in the beg. of the Haley Mills original Parent Trap movie). We do refer to the Disney movie a lot (mostly the Lindsay Lohan one) so watch for those. 	Chapter 1 - Preparations Eleven years later . . . "Dad? Can I talk to you?" "Sure, sweetie." Luke Skywalker put his datapad down and gestured for his daughter to come in the room. She sat down next to him, handing him a flimsy. "I wanted to talk to you about summer break." "Uncle Han and Aunt Leia can't wait to have you again." "I know, Dad," the girl said, "but I've been spending every summer there since I was three. Jaina's got a boyfriend now and Jacen's always doing weird stuff, and Anakin, well, he doesn't talk much. Aunt Leia is almost always being dragged away for some dumb political function and Uncle Han and Chewbacca always seem to have to work on the Falcon." Luke digested her words. It was a fair assessment of his sister's family. "What did you have in mind, then?" "Look at the flimsy." Luke took a glance down at the it. The words SUMMER CAMP stood out the most. It was on a planet named Aquam. "Lots of activities and fun!" it said in bold letters. But the word that impressed him the most was. "Girls Camp. No boys allowed." "I suppose we can try this camp out once," he said slowly. He had always been very protective of Sera, especially after losing Shae. He didn't want her exposed to the elements of the galaxy . . . which included boys. He didn't want to grow up too fast. Not that he minded her spending time with boys, per se, but the father in him dreaded the day she would bring one home. His mind swirled with different possibilities, each one worse than the yes. Yes, he decided, no boys. He checked himself for a minute, wondering if the fact that there wouldn't be any of his niece's crazy friends around was the only reason he would let her do this . . . or if he even would. She's eleven years old, he thought. It's time to give her some independence. Leia won't mind. He took a deep breath and said bravely, "Sounds good, sweetie. Maybe under a false name – I don't want you to be jumped on." "Sounds good. Thanks, Dad!" Sera gave him a big bear hug and went back to her room, excited about telling her friends. * In a quaint apartment on Corellia, Shae Jade was sitting on her bed, folding clothes for her annual six-week summer camp on Aquam when her mother walked in and handed her a holocommunicator card. "That's good for fifty minutes of communication time," Mara Jade said. "Don't forget to let me know you got there safely." "I won't," Shae replied with a smile. "You know I always call when I arrive." Mara sighed, studying her daughter. "I can't believe this is the fourth year you're going to camp." Shae snorted. "I'm getting to be a big girl aren't I?" Mara chuckled, "You're almost a teenager, Shae. I say you're becoming very mature. That first year you called me every other night to beg to come home." "Then the next year I only called every week!" Shae giggled. Mara smiled at the memory. Her daughter was getting big. "Is everything ready to go?" Shae checked her duffle. "I think so. I wonder if there will be any newbies coming this year." Mara ruffled her daughter's hair. "I'm sure there will be. And I hope you will be kind and help any new girls out. "Of course I will, Mom." She decided to keep quiet about certain activities she and her friends had planned for this summer. "Are you flying me there this year?" "I don't know if I can, sweetie. I just got a big request for a delivery of goods. The delivery spot is in the opposite direction of Aquam." "Awww, Mom..." Mara usually dropped her daughter off at camp; the two used it as a last bonding time before the long six weeks apart. "I thought that Ghent and Aves could drop you off–that is, if you don't mind?" Shae grinned. "Mind? I love Uncle Ghent! This is going to be great." * "Dad, it's time to go!" Sera Skywalker said impatiently. Luke came out of his room. "Honey, I won't be able to drop you off at camp," he said, watching her face fall. "I'm sorry, but something came up that I can't get out of." "Important Jedi stuff?" his daughter asked. He smiled. "Yes, important Jedi stuff," he said. "I've arranged for you to take a shuttle there." "But, Dad—" "I'm sorry, sweetie, but I just got a call that a potential student is coming to visit, and I need to be here." Sera sighed and dropped her duffle bag on the landing pad. "I hate last minute stuff like this." "I'm sorry, Sera, but—" They were interrupted by a deep voice. "Hey, guys, what's happening?" Sera looked up and grinned when she saw who the pilot of the shuttle was. "Uncle Wedge?" she cried out, running over to Wedge Antilles for a big hug. "Thanks Wedge," Luke said. "I appreciate you taking Sera to camp for me." "No problem, Luke," Wedge replied. "It's Myri's first time, too." "Myri's going, too?" Sera asked. She and Myri had been friends for a long time; Sera had spent most of her summers with her aunt hanging out with the girl. "Yeah! ‘Bye Dad!" She raced up into the shuttle to see her friend, dragging her bag behind her. "Are you sure you're going to be okay, Luke?" Wedge asked. "The camp is six weeks long. You should have seen Iella last night. She didn't want Myri going. Then Myri told us she was eleven years old and needed to see the galaxy." Luke laughed, doubting that it was Iella who had been protesting the camp; the NRI director usually allowed her daughters the independence they wanted. "I think I'll be okay, Wedge. A potential student is arriving soon, so I'll have my hands full with interviewing and arranging a new room." "I guess I'll see you again in about six weeks when I bring Sera back," Wedge said, walking into the shuttle. He hit the switch to make the landing ramp raise up. Luke watched the shuttle take off, then went back into the Academy to prepare for his new student. *** Mara Jade finished laying the last outfit in the suitcase. "There, it's done, Shae." "Thanks, Mom!" Shae hugged her mother. "Now, don't forget to call me to let me know you got there safely," Mara reminded. " If there's no answer here at home, you can try contacting me on the Flame or calling Grandpa Karrde; he should know how to get in contact with me. And make sure to have fun!" she added, lifting the bag from the bed after securely locking it. Shae smiled. "I always have fun at camp." Before either of them could say anything else, the doorbell of the apartment chimed. "That's got to be Aves and Ghent," Mara said, going to greet the two men. "Hey, Jade, is your daughter ready yet?" Ghent asked as soon as she opened the door. "I'm ready as I should be, Uncle Ghent!" Shae said, running toward him for a hug. Aves took her suitcase. "We'll drop her off in six weeks when camp is over," he told Mara. Mother and daughter gave each other one last hug before Shae sped out the door. " ’Bye Shae!" Mara called as the door slid shut behind them.
