RE: Star Wars: The Parent Trap Special Edition (L/M AU) Chapter 3 - Camp Dayz | August 19
New readers who have requested PMs have been added to the list.
Here comes Chapter 3. Enjoy!
Chapter 3 -
Camp Dayz
Naiya and Shae were laughing as they joined the buffet line in the mess hall. They had been swimming in the lake, and though they had stopped at their cabin to change into clean clothes before the dinner bell hand rung, their hair was still wet.
Marlina Senior, the camp director, was right in front of Shae in the line. "Mmm, I love strizzberries," she said, scooping the red fruit onto her plate. "Would you like some, dear?"
"No thanks," Shae replied, putting namara fruit, native to Bakura, onto her plate next to the bantha steak. "I'm allergic." Before Marlina could say anything else, Shae grabbed Naiya and went to find a table.
"That's a shame," Marlina said, and asked the girl on her other side, "Strizzberries, dear?"
Sera Skywalker shook her head, her long red hair bouncing back and forth. "No thank you," she said politely. "I'm allergic."
Marlina frowned as she looked at Sera. "Yes, you already told me that. Wait, weren't you over there a minute ago?" Sera scooted away, not sure what the camp director was talking about, and went to find her friends.
Marlina shook her head. "That's me, always putting spice in the honeydust containers – I mean, honeydust in the spice – wait,
now
where did she go?"
***
Shae thumbed her blade off and extended a hand to her opponent. "Good fight," she said. The girl nodded and walked away.
Shae turned back to her friends and took of her helmet. They were dueling with practice lightsabers. They looked and sounded like real lightsabers, but they didn't have enough energy to kill or even seriously hurt. All they could do was give the combatants little burns. However, the campers were protected by light, full-body armor suits made of a material that didn't allow lightsabers to penetrate, so they were perfectly safe.
"Any more takers?" Marlina Junior, who was refereeing the bouts, called.
"I'll take a shot at it," Shae heard someone say.
She jammed her helmet back on her head and turned around. "You're on."
The girl was already in the body armor. Someone passed her a lightsaber and she turned it on. The two girls circled each other.
Shae gave a predatory grin that she knew the other girl couldn't see. Her mother was once the galaxy's best assassin, and she carried a lightsaber and had started to train Shae on it. Shae had easily beaten all of her opponents so far, and she had no doubt that she would do the same with this one.
Shae moved to strike, but the other girl blocked it. Shae tried again from a different angle, but was forced to move back quickly when her opponent snuck in under her guard. Shae barely managed to block the blow, and before she could make another move, she found herself blocking again.
Shae frowned and increased her efforts as the girl forced her back, up a few steps to the porch of a nearby cabin. She barely noticed that her friends, Marlina, and the other watchers had followed, and that a crowd was gathering.
She was forced to the edge of the porch, and though she fought valiantly, the other girl managed to push her over the side into a trough of water. "Ah!" she screamed as the cold water hit her.
"Sorry, let me help you!" The girl extended a hand over the railing.
Shae, shivering from the icy water, grabbed her hand, but instead of allowing herself to be pulled out, pulled the other girl in. "No, let
me
help
you
!"
The girl screamed as she hit the water. "What did you do that for?"
"Me? You pushed me in!"
"I did not."
"Ladies, ladies." Marlina stood on the porch above them. "C'mon girls, shake hands."
With a sigh, Shae lifted off her helmet, turned around – and stared at a mirror image of herself. She saw her own shock reflected in the other girl's eyes.
There was a gasp from the surrounding campers. "You look just like me," the girl said breathlessly.
"No, you look like me," Shae corrected, very shocked and not a little off-put.
"Girls, shake hands," Marlina said, amazed by their physical similarity.
The two each extended a hand and touched each other briefly. Then they both puuled back quickly, as if shocked.
Shae decided to ignore it. "What are they all staring at?" she asked, referring to the other campers.
"Don't you see it?" her look-alike asked. "We look exactly the same."
"Hmm. Turn sideways," Shae instructed, deliberately trying to be difficult and punish this strange girl who looked like her. "Okay, now the other way." The girl complied.
"Well," Shae started, "your eyes are much closer together than mine, and your ears – well, don't worry, you'll grow into them." The girl gaped at her, astonished. "Your teeth are a little crooked," Shae continued, "and your nose – well, those things can be fixed." The girl with the same red hair and the same blue eyes just stared at her wordlessly, not understanding why she was doing this.
"But do you want to know the real difference between us?" Shae asked.
She had finally managed to provoke the girl. "Is it that I can use a lightsaber and you can't, or that I have class and you don't?"
Shae snarled and stepped forward, annoyed that she had managed to make the timid-looking girl bite back. "Why, I should – "
"Ladies, please," Marlina said. "Shae, Sera. I mean, Sera, Shae. I mean – whoa."
***
"That was so weird!" Elaiza exclaimed as they walked back to their cabin.
"You've got to admit, she looked just like you," Naiya added.
She shrugged as she entered the cabin. "I don't want to talk about it," she said.
"But –"
"I said, I don't wan to talk about it." Shae stopped suddenly, and her friends almost ran into her. "But I have an idea," she said with a grin."
***
"You okay?" Myri asked as she and Sera trudged back to their cabin.
"I guess," Sera replied. "It's just so spooky! And she was so mean," she added with a sigh, her shoulder slumping.
Myri put a supporting arm around her friend's shoulders. "Cheer up," she said. "Some girls are just plain mean. We'll avoid her. Just think about the big sabaac game tonight. After all your uncle Han has taught you, you're sure to kick butt."
The thought did cheer Sera up. She was looking forward to the game, which three of the cabins had arranged and was to be in theirs that night. "You're right," she said. "Let the fun begin!"

Great update with the twins coming together.
It's wonderful to see the difference in their personalities. You can definitely tell what twin grew up with what parent. I loved the line with Shae giving a "preditory grin" and about her mother being a former assasin. Hilarious and very cool!

Great update. I love that Sera and Myri are friends and that Sera's gonna mop the floor up with her opponents at the sabacc game.
Love the twins snarking at each other. They're probably totally confused and confounded by the physical resemblance.

Marlina shook her head. "That's me, always putting spice in the honeydust containers – I mean, honeydust in the spice – wait, now where did she go?"
Ah, poor Marlina. Probably feels like she's definitely losing it.
They were dueling with practice lightsabers. They looked and sounded like real lightsabers, but they didn't have enough energy to kill or even seriously hurt
Nice! That's really cool for the girls at the camp to practice with, especially since I'm sure a lot of them aren't Jedi.
Sounds like Mara taught Shae some of the 'saber but none of the Force
I like that Sera was the one who won that duel.
Hmm. Turn sideways," Shae instructed, deliberately trying to be difficult and punish this strange girl who looked like her.
*shakes head slowly* Well, she's Mara's daughter alright.
Ah, that's so great. And I'm looking forward to the next update!

That was awesome. Those two girls are...well...they will make for a very interesting prank-war. I can't wait! Loved the duel...and the banter. I'm looking forward to the Sabaac game too. Keep it up!

I haven't watched The Parent Trap in years, so I don't remember what happens at the card game. I guess I'll have to find out.
