“Everything won’t be fine, Tahiri. Jaina and Anakin are dead, because of a decision I made, and now the others have gone off on a crusade that could see them killed, or worse, and that could have been avoided if only I’d been honest with them in the first place.”
Really, poor Ganner. I never thought he'd be reduced to such self-doubt! I bet once Kyp arrives he can join him and go save the others. then he'll feel better.
I really hope they find Jaina and Anakin alive (you know the way it was met, with Jacen dead...ahemm.
).
I'm so glad to see an update.
But you've teased me and I now want more!!!!

Tahiri's one jumble of emotions isn't she--poor thing!!! Everyone's very despondent... it's a shame to let go of the last shred of hope.

Whee!! I'm reading 10 drabble threads! Loving it too!
Check out ginchy's gambit, Myriad's 10,000 words, path-seeker's kaleidoscope.
"Take my Hand", "Tyranny Reborn"= sheer genius.

Interesting...very, interesting.
So Ganner apparently just picked an exceptionally bad time to go AWOL for a few days?
I'm not buying it - he's an experienced Jedi, and (thankfully) in this fic is far from the shallow, self absorbed, clueless tool that he was in NJO.
If he was only chillin' out in the jungle on Ossus the whole time, then he should have known through the Force that something big was happening.
I anticipate that we will see some more twists to the story unfold when Kyp arrives.
Poor Tahiri. Considering what she has been through in this series so far, it's a wonder she isn't in a permanent state of shock or hasn't completely lost her mind yet.
Is there any hope left?
Only time will tell.

RE: Holocaust *NJO AU* {Tahiri/Anakin/Jaina + Many Others} - Updated 01/17/08!
She was standing in between the two matt bars, both hands clamped firmly over the diameter of each one, holding her tiny frame in an upright position. After spending two months suspended in a bacta tank, some of her muscles had begun to break down from the lack of movement, and she was now forced to undergo the painful task of reanimating them.
Poor Tahiri
It was as if some invisible force was stilting her progress; stopping her from rejoining the battle like she so sorely wanted. Tekli had told her that she was simply expecting too much, too soon. The Healer was constantly reminding her that she was still getting over the massive injury she’d suffered on Myrkr, that she’d almost died, and would hence take a significant amount of time to recuperate.
Time was something Tahiri had very little of these days. Less than a standard week ago, she’d woken up to Ganner Rhysode’s concerned face and told that the boyfriend she’d so desperately tried to save had perished back on Myrkr, along with his older brother, Jacen, and sister Jaina. At the time, she’d been too shocked to know what to do, or how to react. Self-blame seemed as good a place as any to start with the grieving process, so that’s what she’d done.
She really has nothing to live for at the moment, does she? Certainly nothing to look forward to.and just forced to languish in bed, unable to do anything. That's got to be pretty miserable.
Running off to find Jaina and Anakin was certainly high on her importance list, yet he’d not said one word to her about it, simply disappearing without so much as a goodbye or a ‘nice knowing you.’
So she does think they're alive? And now we
know
that's what Ganner is doing
After her conversation with Master Skywalker yesterday, Tahiri had completely shut down,
I wonder what was said...
When she’d taken a few calming breaths, she lifted her blonde head and scanned the surrounding area with a set of wide, emerald eyes. Sure enough, when she got to the entrance at the other side of the room, there stood Ganner Rhysode, dressed in a bland ensemble of tan on tan.
“Ganner!” she croaked, wanting to run over to him but not having the strength in her legs to complete the task.
I didn't see that coming so early
It was then that Tahiri realized the older Jedi thought she meant here in this room, and not here in general, but by this stage, her mind had reminded her of the fact that Ganner had lied to her and left her behind, so her reply came out much colder than it otherwise would have. “I thought you’d still be off with the others, looking for Jaina and Anakin.”
“The others?” Ganner repeated, his shocked expression turning into one of puzzlement. “Looking for Jaina and… what are talking about, Tahiri?”
Ahh, so that wasn't what Ganner was up to
“How could they?” the blonde repeated, her voice rising to a pitchy crescendo. “They’re searching for Jaina and Anakin!”
But Ganner didn't go with them?
“But you didn’t see them die, you told me yourself! They were alive when you left them!”
“No, you’re right, they weren’t quite dead, but they were as good as.”
They're not dead
Her hope was gone once again, washed away in the sea of her renewed grief. She could blame Ganner for this, but the truth was that she’d known, deep down, that there was no proof of the Solos’ survival. Tahiri had wanted to believe – so much – that Anakin was out there somewhere, alive; but he was gone in the Force, his whispered voice that usually rested in the back of her mind silent, empty. The only logical explanation for two months of nothingness was that he wasn’t coming back: they weren’t coming back.
Ysalamiri or Vergere stealing the Force away from him
“I was hiding, if you must know.” He stared down at his hands as he continued, clenching and unclenching his fingers as a way to calm his nerves. “I was so disgusted with myself for how I’d handled things on Myrkr… for leaving them be – oh, I can’t even say it!”
So Ganner's still blaming himself
Ganner looked to Tahiri for some kind of reassurance on the matter and received nothing but a tired sigh from the girl. “It’s true,” she told him. “In fact, Master Durron is on his way here now, looking for the proof that you’ve gone off on some crusade to save the Solos, before he jets off himself to join the others.”
LOL. Ganner started a revolution and didn't even know it.
Tahiri desperately wanted to contradict Ganner’s dismal statement, to tell him he was wrong, and that life would go on, but in the wake of her own realization about Anakin and the future, words of optimism escaped her.
If there was but one hope left for them all in this turbulent galaxy, then Tahiri couldn’t see it, and neither, at this point, could anyone else.
Yeah
Good post,
Ant
. Surprising seeing Ganner back on Ossus, or rather, on Ossus all this time. I wonder why Tesar, Lowie, and co. are so convinced Anakin and Jaina are still alive
Either way, maybe Kyp, Ganner, and Tahiri (and maybe Luke) will end up going after them and stumble upon Anakin and Jaina that way. They obviously aren't going to go because they believe the Solos are alive at this point.
Can't wait to finally see Anakin and Jaina. And also find out if Jacen is still alive some way (i.e. his time traveling-self still skulking around the galaxy.).
Post more soon!

Pretty brutal little story you've cooked up,
Ant
. That scene where Mara finds Luke on the floor staring into space was especially powerful. From paragraph one, you established a downward spiral of Bad Things, and so far you've managed to find ways to make the situation worse, chapter by chapter. The Jedi are not in a happy place, are they?
I love it.

RE: Holocaust *NJO AU* {Tahiri/Anakin/Jaina + Many Others} - Updated 01/17/08!
Hey guys!!
I’m still on a temporary absence from the forums, as RL isn’t fully settled yet, but as of today I’ve kind of gotten myself confined to bed with a back injury that has left me unable to walk, (it doesn’t rain but it pours, right?)
so I’m completely bored and thought I should at least jump on here and leave you some replies that I’ve owed for, like, months now.
Ok, here goes…
PHGS_Weyr:
oh dear poor Ganner he definately grew on me as NJO progressed... untill he died in Traitor that is...
Me too, me too… that’s why he’ll star in mine, because I wuv him so very much!!
Great post Ant!
Love this as always! Thanks for the PM!
You’re welcome, thanks for reading!
Earthknight:
The rehab part at the beginning with Tahiri made me cringe a little due to the wonderfully detailed descriptions of her pain. It must've been extremely painful for Tahiri. The conversation with Ganner and Tahiri was very touching though. I'm glad Tahiri is not mad at him anymore. By the way, you write Tahiri so well, Ant. You really do a great job in showing her emotions and feelings.
Aww, thanks buddy!!
I just love Tahiri to pieces (don’t even get me started on her Legacy characterization…) so I’m so very happy that you’re loving the way I write her.
Great update as always, my friend
Thank you ever so for reading!! Mwah!! Xo
YodaKenobi:
Damn, I'm third
Time difference?
Glad you were excited for this one.
iamobiwan1970:
Really, poor Ganner. I never thought he'd be reduced to such self-doubt! I bet once Kyp arrives he can join him and go save the others. then he'll feel better.
I’m sure Ganner will feel better soon, he’s a tough cookie underneath it all, just has to get over his guilt.
I really hope they find Jaina and Anakin alive (you know the way it was met, with Jacen dead...ahemm. blush ).
Hehe… yes, that’s certainly the way it should have been..
I'm so glad to see an update. But you've teased me and I now want more!!!!
Aww, thanks!
I’m really glad you’re excited, but unfortunately there won’t be a new update for quite some time yet… until my RL issues are sorted there’s no time for writing fanfic, sadly.
But I will get back to this.. I don’t want to have fanfic gone from my life completely.
Jade_eyes:
Tahiri's one jumble of emotions isn't she--poor thing!!! Everyone's very despondent... it's a shame to let go of the last shred of hope.
Yeah, everyone is very down, but things will hopefully be looking up for some of them soon…
LOBO:
Interesting...very, interesting.
Thank you.
So Ganner apparently just picked an exceptionally bad time to go AWOL for a few days?
So it would seem…
I'm not buying it - he's an experienced Jedi, and (thankfully) in this fic is far from the shallow, self absorbed, clueless tool that he was in NJO.
If he was only chillin' out in the jungle on Ossus the whole time, then he should have known through the Force that something big was happening.
I anticipate that we will see some more twists to the story unfold when Kyp arrives.
You’re very perceptive, and I’m glad you’re liking Ganner in this fic. He was so under-used in the NJO and was at times too cocky for my liking, so I’ve tried to rectify that a little and turn him into who I thought he should be.
Poor Tahiri. Considering what she has been through in this series so far, it's a wonder she isn't in a permanent state of shock or hasn't completely lost her mind yet.
She’s very tough, as her experiences with the NJO shows. But she has been through the wringer a little… hopefully things will be looking up for her soon.
Is there any hope left?
Only time will tell.
Yes indeedy.
shahid_chestro:
Hi, Sorry for bieng a lowsy reviewer but i hyad my appraisal coming up so was very busy...
That’s fine, RL gets in the way for all of us at some point.
good chapter if a little slow on the general story. i hope things pick up in the next few chapters. update soon.
Thanks.
Things should be picking up soon, there’s a few battle sequences coming up, when I find the time to get back to writing this that is…
PS>>> CHECK OUT "ADAHN"'s story titled ONLY RIGHT> its very well written and its Jacen centric. also chekc out his/her story titled EPIPHANY>
Thanks for the tips, I’ll try and get a look at them when I can come back online full-time again.
YodaKenobi:
Poor Tahiri
She really has nothing to live for at the moment, does she? Certainly nothing to look forward to and just forced to languish in bed, unable to do anything. That's got to be pretty miserable.
Yeah, it would be. Right now I can vouch for the just lying in bed with nothing to do part.
It is more than boring.
I’m going nuts!!
So she does think they're alive? And now we know that's what Ganner is doing
She doesn’t want to believe they’re dead, that she was part of the reason they were killed, if that’s the same thing??
I wonder what was said...
Just looking for Ganner, when Luke went to make that call to check on Ganner he got Tahiri and found out he hadn’t been seen.
I didn't see that coming so early
I had hoped not.
Ahh, so that wasn't what Ganner was up to
Nope…
But Ganner didn't go with them?
No, he was being a lazy sod…
They're not dead
Wishful thinking? I can’t say either way for sure, don’t want to spoil the surprise when it finally comes…
Ysalamiri or Vergere stealing the Force away from him
So Ganner's still blaming himself
Until Tahiri knocks some sense into him.
LOL. Ganner started a revolution and didn't even know it.
Hehehe… you like that part?
Good post, Ant. Surprising seeing Ganner back on Ossus, or rather, on Ossus all this time. I wonder why Tesar, Lowie, and co. are so convinced Anakin and Jaina are still alive. Either way, maybe Kyp, Ganner, and Tahiri (and maybe Luke) will end up going after them and stumble upon Anakin and Jaina that way. Yeah, lots certainly to happen in future posts. I’m glad you enjoyed this one.
Can't wait to finally see Anakin and Jaina. And also find out if Jacen is still alive some way (i.e. his time traveling-self still skulking around the galaxy.).
Post more soon!
I can tell you answers to some or all of those questions will come by chapter 10… at least, that’s the plan. When I finally get around to writing more, that is.
1Yodimus_Prime:

Hehehe… no, they’re in a very, very bad place right now.
I love it.
Excellent!!
I seem to be drawn to stories that are especially dark and filled with 1,000 terrible things… I’m so glad you’re liking mine, thanks for reading!
Thanks, guys!! Sorry it took me so long to come back to you all on this one, RL has taken me away from most of my online activities (bar the ones that I actually do for a living and have no choice)… hopefully when things settle down I’ll be able to come back to this and have another post or two ready for you.
And now I’m going to head back to la-la land, take another painkiller and try and get some sleep.
Hope you’re all keeping well!!
Ant.

Lightsaber123:
Thanks for your concern, it means a lot.
To answer your question without going into a heck of a lot of detail, my back injury isn't a permanent fixture, but it will be coming and going in its own annoying fashion for some time to come. Right now it's back again, but bearable for the time-being.
Earthknight:
Thank you for your well wishes, they were very much appreciated.
And sorry it took me so long to get back to you *glares at RL* But I'm on the mend and I'm trying to get things back on track with this fic... so sorry for the huge delay.
Sorry, I didn't know I still owed replies in this thread.
Just goes to show I should visit it every now and again to check.
Now that the replies are done, I'll let you know that I've started working on the next chapter for this fic (finally!). Apologies for the huge delay. Hopefully, when I have it finished, it won't disappoint.
Ant.

Chapter 7: Skin Games.
As her eyes adjusted to the dim light, the first thing they looked upon was a mass of some kind of unidentifiable organic saplings, standing stock still in front of her. She stretched out with one shaking, blue hand, reaching for the nearest one. Her palm closed around its girth and almost instantly, a current shot through the physical connection, up her arm, and finished in the pit of her stomach.
The jolt was so strong that it knocked her completely off her feet, and for a second, her sight blurred at the edges. She let out a low growl, wincing against the pain that was now coursing through her nervous system. Her cerulean eyes narrowed to a pair of tiny slits as she gazed, somewhat reservedly, at the long poles that stood all around her in a tight semi-circle.
Of course, she muttered to herself. She remembered now; in her dazed state, she’d momentarily forgotten where she was: in a prison. The things she mistook for small trees were in fact the objects that were keeping her locked up in this place, and any contact with her skin resulted in mild electrolysis; not enough to kill you, but enough to stop you touching them for a second time.
When she rose shakily to her feet once more, she let her eyes travel further than the living bars encasing her. Directly behind them was some kind of workstation, covered with all sorts of writhing creatures and sharp, twisted objects that looked menacing just sitting still like they were. To the untrained eye, they would look very much like weapons, but she knew better.
They were tools, used to inflict great pain on those who were suspected to be charlatans. That was the reason she was here now, stuck in this cell. Her people thought that she was one of those they hated above all others – a
Jeedai
. Unfortunately for her, she’d been graced with a hideous resemblance to one Jeedai in particular, a young blue-skinned alien the infidels called Alema Ra.
She didn’t blame her people for what had happened to her. They were just being careful; making sure one of
their
kind hadn’t found a way to sneak through the cleverly erected defenses. No, she accepted that this analysis had to be done. She swallowed her torture with a grimace but without complaint, all the while vowing that she would get revenge on the thing responsible for all of this.
The Jeedai.
Alema Ra.
Regrettably, revenge on the infidel behind her imprisonment would never be possible, for she had been informed that the creature in question had in fact already perished. That in itself was a terrible shame, for she had wanted nothing more than to take that large, three-pronged tool she had gotten to know so well over the last two months, and shove it right through the infidel’s skull!
Calming herself, the girl crouched down on all fours and leant up against the cool coral wall behind her, closing her eyes and taking joy from her solitude. It wasn’t often these days that she was left alone with her thoughts, although, she knew it was only a matter of time now before she’d be set free. She’d proven to them all that she wasn’t the infidel they feared, and had gone through months of intense torture without even the slightest complaint, all to show that she really was one of them.
A Yuuzhan Vong.
However, she was a little out of her mind when they’d found her on that planet. She’d been part of a flotilla that was supposed to intercept the infidel task force on Myrkr, but had accidentally crash-landed on the mission, almost dying in the process. It was just her luck that she happened to stumble upon an almost identical Jeedai during her cataleptic state, before being picked up by Nom Anor and his minions.
Then, they’d brought her back here to the shaper, Nen Yim, who’d had no choice but to go to any means necessary to make sure it was really her they’d collected, and not the Jeedai Ra attempting one of her mind tricks. Her eyelids fluttered at the memory of her first night in captivity: she’d been brought into the shaper’s laboratory semi-conscious and babbling in infidel basic. One of the warriors who had her in a vice-like grip had flung her across the room as if she were nothing more than a piece of decaying meat; she’d hit the open bars of the cell, and her entire body had screamed out as if it had just been doused in flames.
That was only the beginning of the pain.
"Who are you?" Nen Yim had cried, lips curled in an aggressive sneer.
"Alema – Alema Raaaa!"
The last part she hadn’t been able to finish, as at that very moment, the master shaper had pierced the flesh on her forehead with a red-hot poker. Pain like she’d never experienced before had shot down her nervous system, the howls that had slipped from her mouth lost on her captors.
"You are a Jeedai, a filthy infidel! You will tell me where the others are!"
"No!"
Her insolence had been rewarded with yet another stab of horrific pain, this time as the same skewer was laced down her crown in one long, jagged line. Something warm and sticky had begun to leak down the side of her face by this stage, and even though she’d never actually seen what it was, she knew it could only be one thing: blood, and lots of it.
"You will suffer, Jeedai, as long as you refuse to answer my questions!" the shaper bellowed in stilted basic. "Tell me where the others are, and you shall be set free."
She recalled briefly considering this offer, but must have decided to reject it, as the next thing that had come out of her quivering mouth had been a lump of galled-up saliva, directed at the tiny, spiralled tattoo at the base of Nen Yim’s high cheekbone.
This reaction had provoked the most agonizing torture to date; the shaper, seething with anger, had strapped her to a device that saw her pinned to one of the far coral walls, before something very similar to the infidel form of electricity had thundered through her muscles and bones. Tears had dried up as soon as they’d left the safety of her eyes, and her screams had continued to echo around the cavernous room for days afterward.
"No more questions, Jeedai Ra," Nen Yim had said coldly.
After that, the walls had been bathed in an unnatural orange glow, and the floor in the dark crimson of her blood.
With a jolt, she opened her eyes once more, visibly shaking from the force of the memory. It was new, one she’d never seen in her mind before now. They’d called her Jeedai Ra, just as they had always done; only this time, she had referred to
herself
as the Jeedai. How this was even possible, she didn’t know, but she was saved from any further ponderings as a click sounded in the distance. The hollow patter of bare feet on yorik coral closely followed the sound, and a sickening lump formed in her throat.
They were coming for her.
It had been days since she’d last seen Nen Yim, so she knew that she would be in for a rough ride. Desperate to get away, despite the fact that she wanted to prove her innocence to her people, she began to frantically scratch at the hard ground at her feet, her bloodied hands making frenzied patterns as they danced across the floor of the cage. Twice, she touched the edge of the organic bars, and her fingers had received a very nasty shock, as if hot wax had just been poured down the centre of her bones.
Another click sounded; the shaper was in the heart of the compound now, and it wouldn’t be long before she was in this very room. She began to dig harder and faster, her nails splinting with the harsh movements, her raw fingertips already split and bleeding profusely. The pain from the self-inflicted wounds didn’t affect her the way she knew it should: she gazed at the pads of her mutilated fingers, at the bloodied pulp they had now become, and cocked her head in wonder as a pleasant buzz travelled down her arms.
She no longer felt the need to escape, and so was still sitting there cross-legged on the hard floor and staring at her pulpous hands when Nen Yim stormed into the laboratory.
TBC.

Is it possible that this
is
Alema? Did someone else die instead? Did they revive her? Clone her? Or is this Numa, who didn't die, after all, but got shaped instead?
It's difficult to say, since it's been a while that I read the previous parts.
Tease!
