Jaina choked out, “Kyp!” And fell into the older Jedi’s arms weakly, grasping onto him for dear life as he held her up in his strong grasp and gently pulled back to study her. “Sith hells, Jaina,” Kyp breathed, “what happened to you?” “Too much,” she said darkly. “What are you doing here?” “Looking for you – I got here the same way you did. Are you all right? You look like a ghost, Jay.” He helped her over to an empty seat on the couch, shooting a grateful look to Anakin, who nodded in return. “I honestly feel like a ghost,” Jaina said wearily. “You and I – we don’t belong here, Kyp.” “You’re tellin’ me,” Kyp muttered, glancing at his counterpart. “Yeah,” Durron said, “he gets to have the cape.” Riley snapped at him, “Shut up, Durron! Enough with the stupid cape! Complain about it one more time and it goes into the incenerator!” Durron glared sulkily at her, and Solo nudged him hard in the gut. “We don’t have time for this,” she said. “We have to find out what you’re doing here and how to get you back. We can’t keep going on like this – the Force must’ve sent you both here for a reason.” “No,” Jaina said weakly, “not both.” Solo frowned. “What are you talking about?” Anakin let out a breath. “What Jaina means is that there’s someone else.” “Someone else?” Luke echoed. “Someone… from their universe,” Anakin explained. “Shavit,” Durron muttered. “This gets worse all the time.” Mara came to sit next to Jaina. “Who’s here with you two?” She asked gently. “Is it someone we know?” Jaina and Kyp locked gazes, and she allowed some of her emotions to seep into his. He gasped sharply, his eyes widening in horror. “No,” Jaina said finally, “It’s no one you know.” “Shavit,” Kyp cursed. “This is not good.” “What’s not good?” Durron demanded. Kyp shot him a look and said slowly, “The Sith Lord from our universe is here.” “Shavit,” Durron cursed. Jacen moved forward and said, “Do you know where he is, Jaina?” Jaina didn’t answer him, and Kyp squeezed her shoulder gently. He didn’t look at Jacen. “Jaina,” Kyp said gently, “let’s talk somewhere private, okay? Come on. I think we need to catch up.” Jaina took in a shaky breath and nodded, then, as Kyp helped her up, leaned on Kyp as he led her out of the room and into her bedroom. The door shut behind them, and everyone heard the sound of the lock sliding into place. Jacen sighed and rubbed his head. “Listen, guys,” he started, “I think Jaina’s… issues may have something to do with me.” “Why do you say that?” Mara questioned, her green eyes boring sharply into her nephew’s. “Did you get any information from her?” Her gaze flickered to Anakin. “Anakin?” Anakin wouldn’t look at her. “I… I can’t tell you,” he muttered. “She told me not to.” “But if there’s a chance that we could stop this new Sith Lord, then now’s not the time to keep secrets,” Jacen insisted, but Anakin stood up quickly and glared at him. “You know what, Jacen?” he said, his tone deadly. “Just shut up and leave her alone.” Jacen’s eyes darkened, hurt. “It is about me, isn’t it?” he challenged. “There’s something you’re hiding, Anakin. Don’t think that you can just-” “Hey!” Solo butted in angrily. “Both of you, shut up! Jaina’s obviously not the same person as me, but if I were her – which I am, sort of – but you know what I mean – then I wouldn’t want you two to be acting like idiots. Now, maybe Kyp can help her and us figure out this mess. But I think we should get the Council together and start planning for the situation of a new Sith Lord.” “Jaina – Solo, I mean,” Ben said, “is right. I’ll call Zekk – Jace, do you know where Tenel is?” Jacen nodded. “She’s coming here from Hapes – she’ll be here soon.” “Good,” Luke put in. “I’ll get Corran and the others. Han and Leia should be back from their meeting soon enough. After I contact them, Mara, hon, I’m going to the temple." "In the meantime," Durron said, his eyes flickering to Riley and Zane, "what are we going to do with these two?" Riley glared at him. "Kriff, Durron, you make it sound like we're criminals." Zane looked at her pointedly. "Ri, I am a criminal." "Smuggling is different," she insisted. "Heck, even Han Solo was a smuggler." She turned back to Durron. "Listen, Capeless Kyp," she ignored his dark glare, "I don't care what you or anyone else says here, but we're sticking with our Kyp until he gets back to his universe." Zane blinked. "Uh, we are?" "Yeah, we are." Riley turned her glare to him. "Oh. Okay." He shrugged. "Guess I'd better tell the guys we're staying here for a while." "That's right." Durron didn't like this idea very much. "Now wait just a minute," he protested, "You can't just tag along with the rest of us! Where will you sleep?" "In Zane's ship," Riley said simply. "But you're not - you can't... why don't you just go away?" Durron growled furiously. Ben looked at the couple. "What's wrong with 'em? They look nice to me. He kinda reminds me of Zekk, so that can't be bad, right?" Zane shot him a thankful grin. "You know I don't like Zekk," Durron said, his teeth grinding. "You know I don't care," Riley snapped. "Listen, idiot, we're staying." Luke held up a hand. "All right, everyone just calm down. What are your names?" "Riley Halev and Zane Dawson," Riley spoke. "I know who you all are, so no need for intros." Luke nodded. "Fair enough. You're welcome to stay here if my sister agrees. But if you'll excuse me, Jacen, Kyp – Durron,” he sighed. “Durron, why don’t you come with me?” Durron shook his head, annoyed at the loss of his cape, first name, and his argument, and followed Luke and Jacen out of the apartment. Solo stared after them. “Two Kyp Durrons,” she muttered. “Will the galaxy survive?” TBC... NEXT TIME ON FLYING SOLO: Kyp and Jaina discuss what to do next, and the hunt for the new Sith lord begins. 	Thanks for updating! So everyone is pretty much upset at this point...whether it be from losses sustained or information gained. And I have this odd feeling that things are going to get worse before they get better (isn't that always the case? ) Hopefully they'll come up with a decent plan for defeating the dreaded Sith Lord, but isn't it better for everyone to know who it is beforehand before meeting up with him and getting a huge shock? Ah, well, it probably still is very painful to talk about it. Fine, not probably, it is. Could it be the Big Bang 2.0? I have to think that once Caedus realizes what he's up against his overconfidence may wain. He doesn't have the power base he had in his universe plus the array of Jedi Masters arrayed against him, Luke, Mara, two Kyps etc. as well as two Jaina's, Jacen et all. 	And the cape issue continues to crack me up. Jaina and Kyp's situation just keeps getting more and more intriguing, although I have a feeling that things are going to start to slide downhill. If Jacen ever meets his counterpart (and I have a bad feeling he will), things could... not go so well. For some reason, I can just picture a Caedus/Jacen duel.
