This thread is a response to Fattooine's The Ultimate Drabble Challenge: So Nice, We'll Do It Twice!!

Week 1: Luke Skywalker

1. Smooth

Luke held his infant son as though he were made of the most fragile glass. He worried of holding him too tightly, or not closely enough. The sight of his pinched red face and dark hair were happiness incarnate; peace in a chaotic galaxy. Luke ran his finger over the sleeping face and marveled at the smoothness of his son’s skin.

“He’s beautiful,” Luke said, smiling at his wife.

“Yes, he is,” she replied sleepily. “He looks like his father.”

“Really?” Luke said, arching an eyebrow. “I think he looks like you. Even while sleeping, he looks ready to attack.”

Rough

Exiting the stage, Luke heard the gasps and murmurs and, from the corner of his eye, saw mouths hanging agape. He was the Grand Master of the Jedi Order, the final authority, the last word. It needed to be done to keep the peace, even if it meant losing valuable allies and long time students. He was confident in his decision, but he worried over the fallout. How would they react to such a proclamation? He knew who would leave and who would stay. But, the hard part would be waiting to see which way the fence sitters would fall.

Dry

Mixed emotions filled Luke’s mind as he and Kam Solusar broke the atmosphere of the planet Ossus. He was, at once filled with the excitement of a school boy, and also a distant melancholy for the ravaged world. Would he find his treasure, or would the temple be as barren as landscape.

As they approached the ancient, monolithic Jedi Temple, Luke took in the view. Brown, red, and orange streaked the surrounding plains. In a way, a very small way, it reminded him of home. But the knowledge he hoped to find on Ossus would never be found on Tatooine.

Wrinkled

A mirror tells no lies, but reveals many truths. No, it wasn’t an old Jedi axiom, just an observation. Luke Skywalker was an old man. His youthful good looks still remained, if one looked past the wrinkles. And, his blue eyes still sparkled. He was not a vain man, but he was thankful that his skin did not sag. Take that, Emperor Palpatine.

He was happy and content that the title of Grand Master had long ago changed to “grandfather”. His wrinkles were no longer caused by the weight of the galaxy, just weight of small children on his shoulders.

Weathered

At their first meeting, the man named Streen was not a friendly sort. But, Luke soon learned that it was not rudeness, or some other character flaw, it was just all the man knew. Looking into the weathered face of his first prospect for the new Jedi order, Luke was reminded of his uncle. It wasn’t that the two men looked a like, more that they felt a like. Possibilities unrealized. Dreams never manifested. A life not lived, only bourn. Luke would not let Streen’s potential be wasted. No matter what it took, the elder man would become a Jedi.

yay for the Streen appearance in Weathered. It's really nice to see him compared to OWen. They're so similar and yet so different

Nicely done! I think Smooth was my favorite one, but I loved Winkled also, and the appearance of Streen. He is so underused.

I like Dry. It shows Lukes desire to find his valuable knowledge. The audience is now backing Luke in his quest to find his treasure.

Mousie: Thank you for reading, Mousie. I enjoyed Wrinkled as well. I wanted Luke to have a happy ending.

matthewt: I’m glad you enjoyed these, matthewt. I wanted to show an excited, but wary Luke. He doesn’t know what he’ll find.

BigFatty: Thank you, BigFatty!

mavjade: Thank you for the praise, mavjade. I’m glad you liked Luke marveling at his new child. I appreciate you reading.

KELIA: It’s always good to see you, Kelia. Thank you for stopping in. Ben has certainly proven ready to attack.

BigE: Thanks, BigE. Wrinkled and Smooth do seem the favorites. I really liked that last line as well.

Myriad_Daydreams: Thank you for reading, Myriad. I appreciate it. You will see more of Streen in coming weeks. I hope you continue to enjoy.

Without Further ado, here is WEEK TWO.

Week 2 (10.01.07)

Jedi

Leaving his relatively peaceful, solitary existence on Bespin would be one of the hardest things Streen could imagine doing. Living among other beings, Force sensitive beings, would, indeed, also be an arduous challenge. But, the blonde haired young man, whose name was famous galaxy wide, made him an offer he could not refuse. He chuckled at the absurdity of Luke Skywalker’s assertions about him, but decided, after much persuasion, that he could not ignore it. He would give this new ‘Jedi Master’ a try. It would be an opportunity to contribute something more than gas readings to the greater universe.

Sith

Jacen Solo saw his mother engage Alema, Luke engage Lumiya, his father and Mara defending against Confederation security forces, and ran. He had warned them of the trap. What were they doing there? Without hesitation, he sprinted for the nearest shuttle. If they had come, despite his warning, their fate was of their own making. His first responsibility was to the Guard and the Alliance. The enemy had fooled him, and that made him angry. He had to make sure the damage was kept to a minimum.

As he lifted off, he felt disbelief, sadness, and suspicion infuse the Force.

Soldier

A ragged trail of smoke lifted into the air from a cig stick in shaking hands. The quaking hands belonged to Corporal Anis Tevin, one of two survivors of the ambush at Cisnos Ridge. His mud spattered face and vacant eyes made his appearance startling, as if were a living, breathing dead man.

“Listen, Son,” said a gruff, disembodied voice from the shadows. “You will have to tell us what happened at some point.”

The young officer’s eyes sharpened and darted toward the voice. His lips trembled.

“Blood and guts happened, General,” he rasped. “We never knew what hit us.”

Civilian

Locating and approaching the famous Jedi Master had been more work than Jasper, or his grand daughter had expected. But, finally, after almost 45 years, he thought it was time to put the item into the proper hands.

“It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Kelgogin,” Luke said, pleasantly.

“And, you, Master Skywalker.”

“You mentioned a gift.”

Jasper reached into his coat, pulled out the silver, cylindrical object and placed it reverently in Luke’s hand. He could see that the younger man was puzzled.

“This item literally fell into my lap 44 years ago.”

Luke ignited the violet blade.

Politician

Cal Omas wanted to kick something. His Galactic Alliance was failing and, it seemed, his own people were responsible. He cursed Jacen Solo and his partner in crime, Admiral Niathal. Knowing Jacen and his treacherous heart, Niathal would not be around much longer. He would surely kill her.

His thoughts wandered to critics of the Alliance at the time that Correllia first made its secession grumblings. It was the new Empire. Control was too tight. Rights were being violate. Freedom was being suppressed. The Confederation worlds had no idea how well they had it.

Jacen Solo had to be stopped.

I wonder. can you please tell me more about Jasper? he and his granddaughter sound interesting. and I don't think the violet blade is Anakin's, as that one is on Kashyyk and is not violet but rather, blue

Yes, he's drabbling! dancing

Week 1: Loved the point Luke makes about baby Ben being like Mara, ready on the attack.

Also: A mirror tells no lies, but reveals many truths. No, it wasn’t an old Jedi axiom, just an observation.

brilliant applause

He was not a vain man, but he was thankful that his skin did not sag. Take that, Emperor Palpatine.

laugh laugh Ok. That made me laugh.

Week 2: Loved that you again used Streen. One of the very un-used minor characters of the Jedi Academy

Soldier: “Blood and guts happened, General,” he rasped. “We never knew what hit us.”

Favorite line so far.

I'm interested in this Jasper also. Is he a canon character or your OC? And who's blade did he have? thinking

I have to tell you that I was a big fan of Cal Omas. Never liked how he became a true politician but in Inferno, he made me a fan again.

Great job. Yes, you've been very busy. I love it when you're busy. happy
