Jaina_Solo_Goddess: Well, I hadn't planned for Mara to be behind it all, but it seems she is... all for the better. And everything is about to start happening...

Ben sat on the couch nervously, listening to his parents’ quiet argument. Somehow, they had stayed at verbal fencing, rather than losing their tempers. From what Ben could here, Mara was trying to persuade Luke to let her deal with Ben.
“I should deal with this. I’m the one who raised Ben. Haven’t I proven myself worthy of being a Sith apprentice, just through all I’ve done?”
“You’ve proved yourself worthy of being a complete idiot. If you really were a smart assassin and spy, I never should have found Ben.”
“I’m not Thrawn. I can’t see every detail of my enemies’ plans.”
“That doesn’t matter. I don’t want you anywhere near that kid,”
“You have no say in it. I’m going to do whatever I want. You don’t own me.”
“But I am the Dark Lord of the Sith, and you will do as I say.”
A sharp laugh. “Oh, Luke, if only you knew…” Mara stormed out of the room and regarded Ben coldly. “I’m leaving here, and you’re coming with me.”
Ben gasped in surprise. “But if the Emperor doesn’t want me to… and where’s Jacen?”
“No questions. Just come.”
Luke stood in the doorway, furious. “Jade, you have no say in what happens to Ben. You’re on the edge of treason as is; don’t make me press charges.”
“The only thing you could ever make me do is deceive you.” Mara dragged Ben out of the room and into the turbolift before Luke could protest or throw Force lightning.
Left alone now, Luke regarded the door with a malicious curiosity. “I know all about it, Mara. I rule here, and there is little I do not know. Do not expect that you will defeat me. You and your Rebels are powerless.” He picked up a small ship’s beckon call off the nearby table. “And of course, you have forgotten about Leia…” He activated the call.
“She always responds to her Master’s summons.”
Jaina glanced up for a moment, watching Leia. Leia was talking to herself almost, or perhaps to some unseen listener…
“No. Get out of my head. I said no to you… oh, if only you knew the truth… get away from me… you have no power over me…”
“Mom, are you okay?” Jaina asked.
Leia jumped a little. She looked very distracted and angry at the intrusion. “Luke thinks he can call me back to him like a battle dog. I already told him I’m not interested in the Dark Side, but he never listened.”
“So why is he still calling you?”
“He thinks he can summon me through fear and intimidation. He can’t”
Don’t be so sure, a voice in the back of Jaina’s head whispered. She said aloud, “Get out of my head!”
Leia rolled her eyes. “So now he’s after you, too. Time we checked in your brother, right?”
Jacen had been hearing the voice far more than he liked. Luke was always there, offering little suggestions about turning to the Dark Side, and Jacen was listening…
It sounded more and more appealing. Jacen was trapped in some kind of Sith fortress, alone and probably with no hope of escape.
Luke wanted to make a Sith out of Jacen, and by now further resistance was futile.
Then a new voice entered Jacen’s head… one he recognized as Leia…
Stay strong. I’m coming to get you. I promise.
PM's are coming later... I have to be somewhere, but afterwards I'll PM everyone.

Great last two updates. They're gonna get Jacen just in time. Whew!! That line about their not having any love between them... wow!! Never thought I would read that in reference to L&M  I still think Mara's deluded LOL

Whoa, this is really good! All of the Sithly plans...Luke was dead on when he said the Sith always betray and scheme amongst themselves! Please add me to the PM list!
I strongly suspect that Leia is lying about not being a Sith. I believe that she has been working for Luke for the past seven years, and not having her children know that she is alive is all part of the plan...
What happened to Anakin? Is he still roaming around the galaxy?
And how did Mara manage to hide her pregnancy from Luke?

Ahhhhhh! Now I'm confused...does Mara know all and is successfully hiding most of it from Luke, or does he know all and is hiding the knowledge form Mara? And what about Leia! Even though I love Sith, their scheming leaves me very conufused  . Keep up the great posts!
I'm sure all will be explained...eventually.

Wow, two posts full of so much intrigue. Shame on me for being behind.
I'm thrilled to see Mara and Luke manipulating each other like this. I love to see her being such a Sith. Luke still has his delusions of control, but something must really be holding her back. I'm still worried to see how precarious Leia's hold on her sanity is. It makes me nervous to think she's all Jaina has. I wish something good would happen for her.
Can't wait for the next update.

Jade_eyes: How do you know they're going to get to Jacen in time? Remember, these are Sith we're dealing with... And once this is done, I promise I'll write a nice fluffy mushy L/M just to make up for all of this.
MarasFire: Leia has definitely had some encounters with the Dark Side. How much of a Sith she is now remains to be seen; I haven't really seen where that is going. I'm still deciding what happened to Anakin- I think I gave a hint earlier that he's alive and unturned, where we do not know. And I also haven't solved how Mara hid her pregnancy. All will come together in the end.
Jaina_Solo_Goddess: Sith are fun to write due to all the scheming. My answer: Both Luke and Mara think they know all and are hiding it from the other. The extent of that all, however, depends on which of them you're talking about.
padawanlost: It's ok to be behind a little- more for you to read! I love writing Mara as a Sith; she's a lot more interesting that way. And I couldn't resist twisting L/M into something evil. Patience is a virtue for the Sith, and that's really what's held Mara back. We're going to find out more on this today! And Leia's sanity right now is rather nonexistent. Or at least, that's the way I think it's going to be.
Sorry your update is late. Darth Vertebrate Biology and Darth Fencing Party got to me a bit more than I'd anticipated.
Ben had so many questions for his mother. He had never seen her be so assertive or aggressive, and she acted like she had more in mind as well. She was smiling oddly, as though she knew something important that Luke didn’t.
That was entirely true.
Mara was thinking about Luke’s most recent action. He had summoned Leia, forgetting that she generally didn’t listen to what he said. Ever since Mara had interfered with Luke’s attempts to make a Sith out of his sister, they had just not been on good terms.
Finally, Ben broke the silence. “What’s the Emperor going to do to us when he catches us?”
“He’s not going to catch us, Ben.” Mara’s smile became more self-assured. “You see, I set things up just so the Emperor won’t hurt us. He’s too scared that I could hurt him in return.” Though this was not entirely true, Mara had enough resources and friends that she could indeed do a lot of damage to the Empire.
“Would you kill him and rule the Empire in his place?” Ben looked worried.
“I probably could.”
“Are you going to?”
Mara’s smile tightened. “Maybe. I can’t do it right now, since it would take a lot of planning and thought.” Planning that I’ve already taken care of, she thought.
“I know what you’re thinking. You already know how to defeat the Emperor,” Ben accused.
Perhaps there is an advantage in telling the truth, Mara thought. “Well, I have an idea, but there’s someone I need to talk to before I can make this idea work. But I’m not sure if she’ll believe me, or even help me. We have to do this together, since if anything happens to me, then you’re the next in line to be Emperor. And you need to know how politics work.”
“I’m seven,” Ben pointed out. “I can’t be the Emperor until I’m older.”
“No harm in starting early.”
“Who’s the person who can help you?” Ben asked.
“I can’t tell you who just yet, since if we got in trouble it would be really bad for a lot of people. But you can come with me to talk to her, and then we can take over the Empire and end the Emperor’s reign of terror.”
This sounded reasonable to Ben, even though there was the voice in the back of his mind warning him Beware! What if Mom’s evil too and this is all just some kind of plot? And remember the story you heard about Aunt Leia and what happened to her when she tried to turn away from the Dark Side? This is dangerous!
“You have nothing to worry about,” Mara purred. “I’ll make sure of that.”
“Jacen’s not here,” Jaina whispered.
“How do you know?” Leia rolled her eyes. “We’ve been here for nearly an hour, fighting traffic control, and only now you tell me your brother isn’t on Coruscant?”
“I only sensed it now. I’m scared.”
“You have good reason to be. Let’s get out of here. I have a friend- well, I guess I can call her that- who might be able to help us. She’s been covertly undermining the Empire for quite a few years.”
“Another Rebel?” Jaina was instantly interested.
“Fine, if that’s how you’ like to phrase it.” Leia typed in a command to get out of the holding pattern. “But I’d suggest you keep your allegiances quiet. We wouldn’t want to get this friend into any unnecessary trouble.”
“I can do that.” Jaina suddenly had a feeling of trepidation, as though something was very wrong about wherever they were going. “Are you sure you trust this person?”
Jaina could have sworn she heard her mother mutter, “I don’t trust any Imp further than I can see through her.”
Enjoy. And guess who the mysterious person is! Hint: Leia and Mara are both thinking of the same person!

Now, wouldn't it be interesting to see Leia and Mara show up at mystery woman's at the same time?
I like how Ben's reading Mara's thoughts- it shows he's got potential. Of course that potential is looking rather sithly when he talks about becoming emperor himself.

Hmm, my first guess was that Shada D'ukal is the mystery woman. Both Leia and Mara would know and trust her and she has enough tricks up her sleeve to help defeat the Emperor. But now I'm thinking Shira Brie...

My first thought when reading this was that Mara and Leia were going to be meeting each other, but I guess there's a third party involved. Iella? Random guess; I really have no idea. And so much depends on perspective...

padawanlost: The issue is that Ben has never been taught the moral issues that go along with Force use... that will be a problem.
Jade_eyes: Ben should be nervous. Mara is very tricky and clever.

Lateness is once again, Darth Vertebrate Biology and Darth Fencing. Blame them for all my problems.
Ben had an eerie feeling of déjà vu. He was once again watching his mother argue with someone important and powerful, trying to get what she wanted.
Not for the last time, Ben doubted the wisdom of coming here. This was a little out-of-the-way place that no one knew existed, and the person in command had a rather unusual record and history. But Mara had said this commander was trustworthy…
…and if Mara was smart enough to be Empress, she was right about this, right?
For a moment, Ben tuned in to the argument, just as Mara began another line of attack.
“You know you owe me one. I’ve been keeping your secrets for a long time.”
“My secrets really aren’t that anymore. And what about your secrets? We both have enough information to have both of us executed for treason.”
“I thought you wanted to be Empress.”
“I don’t have political ambitions. I’m a military commander; that’s what I trained for and that’s what I’m happiest doing.
Don’t put words in my mouth.”
“Brave words to throw at the Empress.”
“At the rate you’re going, you’re not going to be Empress much longer unless you do something about both Skywalker and his sister.”
“You had to bring her up, didn’t you.”
“Well, we both know how serious of a problem she could be. She’s half-mad and very powerful in the Force, a dangerous combination. I’ve never cared much for you Force-users, whether light or dark. Don’t ask me to help Leia Solo.”
“I’m not asking anything of you.”
“Then why are you here? This isn’t a social call.”
“What if it is?”
“Then you’re a worse liar than Han Solo was when I first met him.”
“Just that circumstance is enough to know his wife won’t ask for your help.”
“And what can I provide? I’m outside the regular chain of command, and I don’t get much respect from those stuffed-shirts who think they know everything and obviously don’t. I’m not going to help the Rebellion when I’ve spent most of my life fighting it.”
“Leia isn’t part of the Rebellion anymore.”
“What do you want? Just tell me…”
Ben tuned out again. This argument was just going back and forth with no point at all. Much of it was ominous. Was Mara really seeking a friend’s help, or was she just manipulating or blackmailing?
“Ben, don’t worry about it,” Mara said calmly, paying attention to him for the first time since the argument began. “We’ll resolve this ourselves.”
All three froze as the door exploded in, in a shower of sparks. Leia Solo and Jaina stood in the doorway, looking determined.
Ben later swore he saw a light of madness in Leia’s eyes…
Jaina gasped as she noticed Mara. “You’re the Empress. Mom, I thought you said we could trust your… friend?”
Leia darkly glanced at the Imperial woman. “If you’re even willing to talk to scum like Mara Jade, you’re no friend of mine.”
“Strange that I think the same of you as well.” Mara instantly started playing an antagonistic role as well, slipping into a different character.
The Imperial coldly regarded both women. “I don’t care if you’ve come here to seek help. I have no loyalty to either an insane ex-Jedi or an overly ambitious Empress. The only loyalty I have anymore is to the Empire’s ideal.”
“Why is Mara here?” Leia taunted.
“Why did you come here?” Mara’s green eyes were filled with venom.
The argument escalated rapidly into a mess of ‘whose fault is it anyways that you’re dark and not on my side?’ Just before it could turn into a catfight, Ben decided to not listen anymore.
Ben glanced around, trying to look bored and detached. Finally, he had to ask their host what was going on. “Admiral Daala, why do both my mom and Aunt Leia hate you so much?”
Enjoy. If I ever get my posts up on time, that will be an unusual occurrence indeed.

DAALA???????? Wow, wasn't expecting that. I wonder if Leia and Jaina will try to get Ben while they're at it. And what's Jaina doing while the adults are...catfighting? *invisions Leia and Mara catfighting, then bursts out laughing*
Anyways, great post and my bet is that Leia and Mara eventually work something out or Daala intervenes...but I'm not that good of a guesser (obviously)

I have a feeling neither Leia or Mara will come away with anything from Daala, ... so that's who it was!! I kept thinking it was Isard before this post.
