	Title: Rebirth Author: JediMasterArmada Timeframe: LOTF post-Inferno AU Characters: Anakin Solo, Vergere, OCs and others. Genre: Drama/Action/Adventure Keywords: Anakin Solo's return Summary: After watching Tahiri suffer for fifteen years and his brother fall to the dark side and the burning of Kashyyyk, Anakin Solo can't stand it anymore. He returns from the netherworld of the Force with a mission: Reunify the Jedi Order and stop Caedus, by either bringing him back to the light or a far more permanent means. But the most important thing to him is not merely his mission but to rescue Tahiri from Jacen and stop him from bringing her down with him. Notes: This is a sequel to my vig My Curse but you don't have to read that to understand the story. * * * “No!!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. I couldn’t stand it anymore. I couldn’t stand by and watch my brother tear the galaxy apart any longer. He’d killed our aunt, alienated our sister, nearly killed our parents, and tried to turn Ben to the dark side. I’d watched him use Tahiri’s still unresolved grief over my death against her and watched my mother nearly decapitate the woman I love. Then my brother had opened fire on Kashyyyk and started burning down the world forest. I knew that no one had heard my cry, no one could. It was the price of being dead, something that was going to be remedied. There was no way I could continue to watch him destroy our family. The people I’d died to protect. Jacen was destroying what I had died to give. Peace was something rarely experienced in one’s lifetime and Jacen believed a lie. Galactic control didn’t bring peace, it couldn’t. The very principle was flawed. There was something else that Jacen had forgotten and needed to be reminded of. He was a peacemaker, one who found the desire for peace even in a race with no word for it. I’d watched him show the Yuuzhan Vong what peace was and talk the Galactic Alliance into letting them have a chance at it themselves on Zonoma Sekot. I felt a presence beside me and there stood Vergere, whom Lumiya had called a Sith. I looked at the diminutive Jedi. “Are you a Sith?” I asked. “You should know by now, young Solo, that if I was a Sith I would not have helped you all of these years to learn what you needed.” She tilted her head in an odd fashion and looked at me. “I did meet Lumiya, but I am not a Sith. I taught Jacen the Potentium so he could defeat the Yuuzhan Vong. I never had it in mind for him to become this.” I nodded, odd as it may seem to trust her, she had helped me and the galaxy at large. It didn’t surprise me that Lumiya had twisted Vergere’s words, after all betrayal and deception were the ways of the Sith. The fact that Jacen had bought into Lumiya’s lies about Vergere only proved that even those who were very strong in the Force could be lied to. He’d bought her lies and someone had to stop him before he destroyed the galaxy and started an eternal war. It never ceased to amaze me that Jacen had seen a never ending war in the Killiks, but he couldn’t see that he was starting one now that would have the same side-effect. Ironic, isn’t it? “How much longer do I have to wait?” I asked. Her eyes shined with mirth at the question. “Not much longer, child,” she said. “Everything is ready we merely need to wait for more.” I grimaced, the thought of using death to give life was not appealing, but it was necessary. Being able to return from the realm of the Force had only been attempted a few times from what I had learned. Even though I had died before her, she had been the one to teach me what to do. I didn’t know how she had learned how to before me, but there is still much that I do not understand. Jacen had been busy since his return to Coruscant, we’d been watching him and I’d been growing increasingly furious with him since he began to train Tahiri in the Sith Arts. It was too much. I didn’t know how I was going to avoid killing him when I eventually faced him. I knew that my mission was to try to bring him back to the light, but if that didn’t work I’d kill him, I had to. “It’s almost time.” I heard the diminutive Jedi say, snapping me out of my reverie. I looked at her. “After I’m gone, I want you to teach Mara how to return.” “I don’t know if I can, child,” she said. “I don’t care, do it.” “I will try.” She paused for a moment and took a breath. “Now.” Even though I was already one with the Force, I opened myself fully to it. The energy of tens of thousands of beings dying hit me and I focused on who and where I was going. I took the strength I needed from those who had died, and pushed myself into the barrier between the world of the dead and the living. It was painful but I pressed on, remembering what Vergere had taught me about using pain to strengthen my resolve. I continued to push through the barrier and it finally broke. I slipped through the gap before it closed and hit something solid. Though, minus a severe head injury, I don't see him taking any advice. Though you never know. I really hope we get to read a part about Mara talking with Luke as a Force Ghost, at least. 	Many thanks to my fantastic Master Flowerlady for betaing this. * * * I groaned as I woke up, putting a hand over my eyes to shield them from the light that was upon my face. I was laying on my back in a meadow on a planet whose name I could not remember. I moved slightly before the pain came, it would have been overwhelming if I had not been prepared for it. I let the pain wash over me as feeling flooded into my limbs. As the pain subsided I stood and walked over to the river to look at my reflection. I had brown hair that was longer than I remember it being when I was alive and the same ice blue eyes. I studied the lines on my face, I looked older, but still the same. I suppose the appearance of my body had to do with the image I had of myself and what might have happened had I lived that long when I was alive the first time. I was still surprised that it had worked, but I didn’t have time to stare at myself. I had to find out where the Jedi Order was hiding. A presence touched my mind and I recognized it instantly, it was my mother. I could sense her surprise and confusion. She had seen my corpse and had been at the funeral on Hapes. I knew that much from what I had seen while paying the price for my death by watching Tahiri suffer. I brushed my mind against hers, promising an answer later. After the contact with my mother ended my sister reached out to me. She was even more confused than my mother. She had seen me die and felt me fade away through the Force bond we shared as siblings. I reached back to my sister and promised to tell her later with Mom and Dad. As I broke the connection with my sister, my uncle reached out to me. He was baffled and shocked, but the most prevalent emotion I sensed from him was wariness, I could understand that perfectly. After having one nephew turn to the dark side and having the other return from the dead any being would be wary of appearances. With the way Jacen was acting and the fact that some of my DNA was preserved somewhere – albeit accidentally preserved– he could have cloned me. There was only one way to alleviate those doubts and I knew that I had to do it. I opened my mind to him and allowed him to search my memories. I felt him reach in and look through my mind briefly, that seemed to convince him – partially– that I was his nephew. We broke contact several moments later and I withdrew my presence from the Force. I couldn’t let either Tahiri or Jacen sense me. It wouldn’t do me any good and it could jeopardize my mission. I had to stop Jacen, but first I had to meet up with my uncle and we had to rally the Jedi together, which I was sure Uncle Luke was already doing. My first item of business for the day, if I could find anyone, was to get a ship or see if I could fix one or something to get off this rock and find my family. The trick was going to be getting enough credits to buy my supplies for the voyage. I looked down at myself to make sure that no embarrassing encounters of the naked kind happened while I was out looking for work or stealing what I needed. As much as I abhorred the idea of stealing, it might be necessary and no one would forget a naked thief. I was surprised to find myself clothed, save for my feet which were bare. I shrugged. Buying boots wouldn’t be a problem if I could acquire the credits. I walked through the tree line and into the open. I couldn’t have been more than twenty meters from the meadow. Either I was incredibly good at the returning from the dead thing or I was just lucky. It had to be the latter, because I’m not that good. I narrowed my eyes and used the Force to increase my vision. The flat country spanned for at least a kilometer before ending in the sprawling expanse of a city. Going into the city would, more than likely, be my best option. However, given that I was a shoeless, creditless person on an unfamiliar world it would probably be best to make contact with someone outside of the city before going there. I sighed and shook my head, I may not like it, but it was my best option. Actually, it was my only option. I continued to survey the horizon until my eyes fell upon a small dwelling I had missed in my initial sweeps. It was several hundred meters outside of the city and was the only dwelling of its kind out here. Perhaps the people living there would welcome a straggler like me into their home and allow me to get caught up on current galactic affairs. Or at least what had happened since I was reintroduced to the land of the living. A buzzing sound snapped me out of my reverie as a fast moving landspeeder approached me. I cursed under my breath, I’d been too focused on the dwelling and I hadn’t been paying attention to my surroundings. The speeder stopped about ten meters in front of me. I held my hands out in front me, showing them that I was unarmed. Apparently the fact that I was unarmed – relatively speaking– didn’t matter. They jumped out of the landspeeder with blasters drawn and dispersed in a standard formation. “I’m unarmed,” I said. “I mean no harm to you.” They trained their blasters on me, and I saw them switch the blasters from kill to stun. “Who are you with?” one of them asked. I looked at them, confused. “What do you mean?” “What faction are you with?” Then I understood. They wanted to know whether I was with the Alliance or the Confederation. “Neither!” I shouted. They looked at each other. “Bring him to the settlement,” one said. “We’ll talk to him there.” One nodded and approached me. 	This is such a interesting concept for a story. I'm not a huge Anakin fan, but I really like what you are doing with the story. I can't wait to see where you take this. Wonderful job, Armada....
