dancing: Glad you think so!
Liz: Yeah, I'd say such a meeting isn't far off.
Jade: It is interesting just how great a difference there is, considering how often the two seem to get used interchangably.
ccp: Thanks!
VaderLVR: Glad you liked it!
Kevin: Thrawn's not one to lash out, the way Vader did. But when someone needs to pay, he finds a way to make a lesson of it that will serve to enhance his crew's efficiency, not their fear of him.
Miraluka: Glad you like what you've seen so far. Leia's got the makings of a fantastic Jedi, but she's not quite great yet. I'll be happy to add you to the PM list.
Okay, here comes the next post as we head back to Leia.
For a second time, Leia was jolted out of the hibernation trance by frantic twittering coming from the rear of the X-Wing, She shook her head, and rubbed her eyes, clearing her vision. Then she looked at the scopes. The engines were completely shut down, and she couldn't imagine them being any colder if the fighter had somehow crash landed on Hoth. Life support was barely functional, and she brought that up a little bit. Then she craned her neck around to look back towards the astromech. "What is it, Artoo?" she asked.
The response from the droid was a blat that clearly told Leia that she was missing something rather obvious. Then, the whole situation came flooding back. The space before her was black as pitch, with only a couple of tiny pinpricks indicating stars. Behind her, the hyperdrive was useless, fried when Leia had reverse-triggered the acceleration compensator. The communications array was frozen solid, and apart from popping the cockpit and going out with her lightsaber, would remain so.
Still, Artoo had to have a reason for pulling her out of the hibernation. She activated the X-Wing's sensors and immediately noticed the ship that was approaching. It was still far enough away that the type wasn't easily recognizable, but she could at least eliminate a Star Destroyer. This ship just wasn't that big. In fact, it seemed almost small for an Imperial ship. So what did the Empire have that would fit the profile? She was still trying to puzzle it out when a broadcast came in over the short-range comm, the only method of communication open to her at the moment.
"Unidentified fighter, this is the freighter Wild Karrde. May we be of assistance?"
A freighter out this far? Leia wondered what could possibly lead someone out here, where there was virtually nothing. Or rather, nothing but her disabled starfighter. Was there an Imperial presence behind this? "This is New Republic X-Wing AA-589. As a matter of fact, it seems I do find myself in need of some help."
"What seems to be the problem, X-Wing?" the coolly confident female voice said. For a moment, Leia thought that the voice sounded familiar, but she didn't have any reason to expect any friends to just randomly drop out of hyperspace where her own rash action had left her dead in space.
"I seem to have suffered a hyperdrive failure," Leia said. "I don’t suppose you'd be carrying something I might be able to use to replace it?"
"We aren't carrying anything that would fit a ship that small, I'm afraid," the other woman said. "But that captain has authorized me to offer transport to our base, where we should be able to find something that would suit your needs."
"Any chance we might just be able to bring the X-Wing along? I really don’t think it's a great idea to leave it hanging in space."
"Understandable, this close to Imperial territory," the other said. "The captain also said to inform you that the transport fee will be fifty thousand."
"Understood," Leia said.
"If you'd like to come aboard, we can probably hook up some sort of life-support tube for you to transit over."
"Thanks. If there's one thing Incom didn't take into consideration when they built these things, it's creature comforts. Would it be all right if I bring my astromech along?"
"I don’t see how that would be a problem," the other said. "You haven't said how you suffered the malfunction."
"I think that's best kept between myself and your captain."
"Whatever you say, X-Wing. We'll be ready to bring you aboard whenever you are."
++++++++++++
That's all for now. More will be coming Wednesday.
Force be with you,

So Leia's run from trouble into more trouble.
Once I heard the ship's name, I knew it was trouble. Good to see that Leia's suspicious:
As long as she's suspicious enough to avoid getting caught.
The rest of the conversation was as expected:
As long as she can bring along R2, she'll be okay!

ccp: Thanks!
dancing_star: Well, if it's more you seek, then you have found it!
VaderLVR: Thanks!
dm: Yes, it is quite the tangled web. As for Han and Luke, well, just read on and see.
Jade: Glad you thought so.
Miraluka: Yup, Karrde'll be making an appearance, but not yet.
Kevin: Yes, perhaps Artoo can help keep Leia from letting her guard down too quickly.
Okay, here comes the next chapter!
Chapter 14
Theed was about as crowded as a capital could be, and yet still give off the impression that there was room to spare. It was a trick of the architecture, Luke knew, but one that seemed to have somehow either been lost, or else the artisans on Naboo were keeping it to themselves. The technique had been replicated in some form on Alderaan, but even then it hadn't been as successful as it was here.
"Always leaves you thinking they have room for more doesn't it?" Han remarked. Apparently, he had noticed as well.
"Makes one wonder how Naboo could have given rise to someone as close-minded as Palpatine, doesn't it?" Luke said. "Here, everything seems to invite one in."
"Palpatine was good at the inviting portion," Han said. "He just didn't let anybody leave unless they were no longer of any use to him. Do you really think he would have let Mara go if Vader hadn't dropped him down that shaft?"
"No," Luke had to admit as he and Han turned to face a group approaching the Falcon. "Looks like our escort's here."
"I thought this was supposed to be private," Han said. "You know, the sort of thing where half the planet doesn't know we're here?"
"It's not half the planet, Han," Luke said. "Most of them will be coming with us. And I think you knew Kylantha wasn't going to miss another shot to show just how pro-Republic she really is."
"That's putting it mildly," Han said. "Remind me again why we left her in power, given her status as an Imperial puppet?"
"Han!" Luke said, just soft enough to keep the approaching group from hearing him. "Seal that word port of yours before you get us kicked off of one of the few sanctuaries we have left. Unless you really want me to call Chewie and take him up on that offer of his."
"Not gonna happen, kid," Han said.
"Then behave yourself." Luke turned to Kylantha. "Your Majesty, thank you for taking the time to welcome me back to Naboo."
"It will always be our pleasure to have you as our guest, Prince Organa," Kylantha said. "I've assigned to Captain Panaka to provide security for you during your stay at Dee'ja Peak."
Luke and Han both looked at each other, and then at the young man who'd accompanied the Queen. "Panaka," Han finally said. "Where have I heard that name before?"
"Didn't a relative of yours serve my mother, Padme Amidala?" Luke asked the dark-skinned man.
"My uncle," Panaka said. "He left Naboo shortly before I joined the RSF."
"A tradition of service which does us all honor," Kylantha said. "And now, I must take my leave of you, or someone is bound to notice. And that, I fear, would waste your trip here. May the Force be with you, Senator Organa, Captain Solo."
"If you'll come with me," Panaka said, "I will show you the preparations we have made."
++++++++++++
That's it for now. More will be coming this weekend!
Force be with you,

Seal that word port?!? Han?!? Likely! Well, I hope they don't get into too much trouble on Naboo. Hopefully Panaka can keep things under control, at least until Han opens his mouth again!
Good to see the boys...
