Nicely done. Though I don't think they'll like it so much if the Noghri show up though. Given what happens when encounter Leia in canon on Kashyyk, it should be interesting to see what they do when they come across Luke on Naboo.

Captain Panaka's nephew, cool!
I just hope he doesn't suffer the same fate as Chewie's wookiee friend in HTTE by Zahn.

dancing: Yes, Han better behave himself, or Luke might find his ride has been kicked off the planet.
dm: Yes, hopefully Panaka can keep the throuble under control, and hopefully Luke can keep his brother-in-law from causing trouble of a different kind.
Sil: Wish I could take the credit, but Zahn came up with that term for one's mouth.
Jade: Han? A diplomat? Won't ever happen. Kylatha's actually drawn from Galaxies, where she makes her first appearance.
ccp: Or at least trying to, right?
VaderLVR: Glad you liked it, because I enjoyed writing that interpretation of ol' Palps.
Miraluka: The Naboo probably won't like it, but between them and the Gungans, the Noghri might find an unexpected fight.
Liz: I wanted to bring in a Panaka, but I never saw Padme's Panaka as the marrying type. Hence, the nephew. As for whether he'll suffer Salporin's fate, that's yet to be determined.
Thrawn: Glad you thought so, and there's more on the way.
Okay, here's the next post, delayed due to weather across Southeastern Wisconsin.
"I'd never realized Naboo had locations that were this rocky," Luke said as the speeder made its way slowly up the road towards the settlement at the top of Dee'ja Peak. Kylantha had volunteered to put them up at her family's estate, but Luke had talked her out of it. There was still too much of a chance the Empire could retake Naboo, and the less they had against Kylantha, the more likely she might be to survive such an invasion.
"There aren't many," Panaka said. "With so much of the planet as green as it is, the few rockier locations do tend to stick in one's mind, which is probably why the tourists ignore them."
"And that ought to work in our favor," Han said. "The fewer people around, the less likely the Imperials are to find a way to slip an agent in."
"Your initial request for sanctuary mentioned previous attacks," Panaka said. "Were these targeted assassination attempts, as they were with the senator's mother?"
"No," Luke said. "While those who moved against my mother sought to eliminate her, these attempts seem designed to capture, not kill. It's as if someone wants to make sure we survive to face whatever they've designed."
"Sounds like that might make our job a little easier. It's often simpler to kill than to capture. There's no living being to struggle with when trying to escape."
"Both attempts have been by a group identified for us as the Noghri," Han said. "Nobody on Coruscant seems to know anything about them."
"And thus no idea what their motivation might be," Panaka said. "My first recommendation is that nobody leaves once night has fallen. We should also decide on certain signals that might indicate the presence of trouble."
"I was under the impression that the Gungans were the primary inhabitants of Dee'ja Peak," Han said, changing the subject. Luke wondered if something about Panaka made Han suspicious, or if Han just didn't like the fact that someone else was running things.
"The Gallo mountains were originally colonized by the Gungans, Captain Solo," Panaka said as the rockier terrain gave way to the greenery for which Naboo was famous. "But the settlement of Dee'ja Peak was actually the first human settlement on Naboo. It might have become the capital, had it grown faster."
"But Theed spread itself quicker, due to the fact that it was just a little more accessible than a location high in the mountains," Han said. "I get it."
"That doesn't mean that we're going to be alone up there," Panaka said. "There is a larger Gungan presence in Dee'ja Peak than other cities, such as Theed. And while it is isolated, it isn't as private as the Lake Country, where Senator Amidala sought refuge." The speeder crested a ridge, and gave Luke and Han their first view of Dee'ja Peak.
"It's certainly bigger than I expected," Han said. "Usually when they use the word settlement, it's, well…"
"Smaller?" Luke asked, a little amused at Han's reaction.
"More temporary," Han said.
"Hard to move from the mountains once you set down roots, Han," Luke said.
"We'll get you to the apartment we selected," Panaka said. "It should fit your needs."

Hee!!! Maybe Han's suspicion is tied to someone else running things ... or is there something else going on? Maybe we'll see some Gungans? They always amused me

ccp: Thanks!
Miraluka: Nice to hear you thought so!
dancing: Glad to hear you liked the post. I've noticed that bad weather seems to be coming in bunches this year, but hopefully I can get a string of days where it's calm enough to get some real writing done.
Jade: Oh, you'll be seeing some Gungans. As for Han, well, you'll see where his suspicions are coming from.
VaderLVR: As usual, you're taking some of the cards out of my hand. You'll get a couple answers in tonight's post!
Tonight's post is a bit short, but I think you'll find that there's a lot there.
"There's something that's just not right about all of this, Luke," Han said. "They're being far too accommodating."
"That's because there are many here who still remember what my mother did for Naboo," Luke replied. "It's nothing more than a gesture of the respect that they still pay her, the honor in which they still hold her."
"Luke, that's all well and good. But you don't open your doors to someone who's under threat of assassination without taking some precautions," Han said, closing the door to keep anyone, particularly Panaka, from hearing their discussion. "This all just seems a little too much like Bespin to me."
"Han, Lando had every reason to turn you over to the Empire," Luke said. "Nobody here has any such reason."
"So you don't think the Queen would turn you over if she thought it might save her skin? Luke, let's be realistic. She was an Imperial puppet for years."
"Years in which she aided us in secret," Luke argued. "Han, there's nothing here that's a threat. The Naboo have committed themselves to keeping us a secret until Cracken can find out just where the threat is coming from."
"Just remember that I warned you about this when the threat does materialize. Because somewhere, somebody's planning on getting rich off our hides. I can feel it, Luke. Sooner or later, an attack is going to find us, and I'm not going to worry about who might have brought it. But I will promise to do whatever it takes to put an end to it before it can harm us." Then he turned on his heel and stalked out, leaving to Luke to consider what he'd said."
Luke went and stood on the open air balcony that looked out on one of the waterfalls. "There's a peacefulness here, even with the threat of danger, that I could never have found on Coruscant." He closed in eyes, breathing deeply. And somewhere, he sensed that there was a darker presence. Han was right, in that there was a threat on Naboo. But when the attack would come remained unknown. If only I'd had more time with Leia, Luke thought. He sighed, realizing that wishing wouldn't change anything. He inhaled again, held the breath, then let it out. As he did so, he tried to open his mind to the Force, hoping it would grant him a vision of what was to come.
++++++++++++
That's all for now. I'll try and put together a longer post for the weekend.
Force be with you,
Tych_sel

"Just remember that I warned you about this when the threat does materialize. Because somewhere, somebody's planning on getting rich off our hides. I can feel it, Luke.
Whenever a character says they have a bad feeling about something, it's usually accurate. Luke had better listen to him and at least be ready. The fact that both of them could sense danger is not too reassuring

Luke senses there will be some sort of attack, but he isn't sure when it will come (he needs more training!)
