You know, it strikes me as if creepy Jacen is jealous of the relationship Jaina and Kyp have going. Why else would he have reassigned her?

And Tahiri and unknown spy? Did Jacen play around in her brain to make her do his bidding?

Yay! A new post!! 
Jaina had always known that the Empire had lied to her about her birth, but the truth was hard to swallow.
It usually is. 
To discover that her real family were Alliance officers and Corellians… it felt like something out of The Imperial and the Insatiable.
 Sounds like something I'd watch! 
Jaina grinned. Tonight, she decided, she was going to reward herself with a night on the sofa, some chocolate, and the three episodes of her favorite soap she'd missed this week.
What a perfect idea! Maybe I'll copy Jaina tonight. 
Her brother was sitting behind his big desk—much bigger than Kyp's, but an awkward height for having sex on, an irreverent part of her mind noted, as her Carida-trained body came to attention in front of the Supreme Commander.
LOL!  Irrelevant it may be, but what I can't stop thinking about is the fact that she's taking notes of that kind in her brother's quarters, and in her brother's presence! *shudders*
Then he stood, and walked out from behind the desk, and favored her with a fond smile. "Jaina."
Aww.. *gags*
"You're my twin sister, Jaina," he said, walking closer. "I just threw Tahiri into a dangerous mission. I wanted to talk."
A bit of sibling-to-sibling bonding over a hot cup of cocoa? 
Jacen's eyes darkened as he looked at her. "Don't worry about Tahiri. She'll be fine. I needed to make sure that the Alliance accepted her," he explained. "The best spies are the ones who don't even know that they are spies."
Sneaky.  I like it.
"This way," Jacen explained, "she won't even know what she's capable of until I activate her. She'll be exactly what she claims - a confused, abandoned ex-Imperial." Then he was back in front of her again, and smiling. "Oh, take a seat. Coffee?"
LOL! He did offer her a hot beverage!
Oh, and I love the way he can so casually change from talking about triggering someone he's supposed to care about to drinking coffee.
Jacen gave her a slightly pitying look. "My Force-bond with her can counteract anything they do." He smirked confidently. "Tahiri will remain loyal to me whatever happens. I know it.."
Isn't this the same kind of confidence that got his grand-daddy's legs chopped off?
Beside her, Jacen frowned slightly, and Jaina's heartbeat quickened—even with her limited Force skills, she knew he'd just caught the scent of Kyp on her.
Uh-oh.. 
Jacen gave something that wasn't quite a shrug. "I'm worried he's setting a bad example? He's your commanding officer. You two seem close."
Hah!!
Jacen looked at her for a moment, a merciless expression on his face. Even before he spoke, she knew he was going to ignore what she'd just said. "You're being reassigned out of Saber Squadron, onto my personal staff. Effective immediately."
Jaina was on her feet, eyes wide, mouth open. "What?! Why?!"
Sucks to be Jaina right now... I guess this means her relationship with Kyp got a whole lot more complicated... 
So glad to see this updated.  I really liked the interaction between Jaina and her brother.. can't wait to see more of Jaina's reaction to her reassignment -- I wonder what Kyp will say?

OK! So we already knew the Empire was sexiest, but this really drove it home. You can really tell how denied Jaina was. It seems she has been brainwashed to believe she is weaker than Jacen. Ugh! Maybe Durron will influence her and she'll improve? We can hope. This post made me hate Jacen even more.
Step-father? Who Luke? Have Luke and Leia entered into one of those ancient incest relationships like in mythology?
Jaina watching holo-soaps was priceless.

 Did I read that right? Are you implying that Luke & Leia are married???!?!?
Also, Jacen seems both oddly insistent that Tahiri won't fail him, while at the same time worried that she will. It's an interesting paradigm, and I have to wonder if he knows what the little blonde means to Anakin.
Can't wait for the next post!

Yes, the plan is to explain how the AU came to be. I think it will become more apparent as more details about it appear, though some of that might happen in passing. Not sure about flashbacks, yet, but we've been thinking about it.

Okay - I'm now at the end of page 5. Wow - many questions that I'm sure you'll answer eventually. I thought that line of Tahiri's about the fake profile Jacen had made for her being possibly true was interesting. So she doesn't know her background, and yet Anakin knows her name. Hmmmm And she relies heavily on Jacen for assurance and reinforcement. His creation in other words.
Which makes me wonder, what do people prefer in fanfics? Action scenes or character based ones? Light or dark mood?
Well, I like strong characterisations, and a more character-driven than plot-driven story. I like to see what's going in people's heads or be given some clues as to what motivates them. Basically all the things not happening on canon. LOL
I like Anakin and Tahiri being A/T, even if it takes a while for them to get together.
I like a nice balance of action and character development, a bit of humour and a bit of romance and drama - but not too much angst please. Yuck. In other words I'm an old fashioned original trilogy-type gal.
I like in the story so far that Anakin is the Han-type character.  I admire your explorations of Tahiri's psyche. Really in-depth and intriguing.
Will get on to page six asap.

He is very protective of his sister, and doesn't want her corrupted by a scoundrel like Kyp.
He also wants a TIE squadron under his own command, and Jaina is a very good choice of pilot to command it.
Perhaps he is being slightly selfish, but he's been raised from birth to protect and direct people - forcefully, if necessary. He's just trying to do the right thing for Jaina, as he sees it...

Well, she's just come from having a really close look at an officer's desk, so that's obviously what she'll think of next time she sees one?

Yeah, I'm sure that Tahiri is definitely feeling conflicted right now. Does her newfound relationship with Anakin really make a lifetime relationship (give-or-take... ) with the Empire and Jacen void? I really don't know... And good point! The rebels probably aren't going to go, "well hey, he vouches for you, so here's our secret rebel plans... have fun!"

Interesting reactions.
Jacen's certainly being protective of Jaina, and wants to keep her "safe" under his control. I suppose she'll find that restricting... at first, anyway.

I'm not sure if it's brainwashing, so much as upbringing - and that's true of Jacen as well. They've both become what their parents raised them to be?

Maybe. Okay, they're not. Leia just adopted the name of Skywalker because it's her heritage. Her perspective changed a little when she joined the Empire.

I think part of it may be that J/T normally operate as a team, as we saw when she kicked the ass of the Galaxy's second-greatest Jedi Master in a few short minutes.
Jacen's worried because he's having to let her go solo ( )... He was aware that Anakin would react to her, and he may be instinctively aware that she'd reciprocate, but he can't consciously consider the idea that he'd lose control of her.

I thought that line of Tahiri's about the fake profile Jacen ahd made for her being possibly true was interesting. So she doesn't know her background, and yet Anakin knows her naem. Hmmmm And she relies heavily on Jacen for assurance and reinforcement. His creation in other words.
It seems that way, I guess. A daughter of the Empire, one might say.
But when it comes down to it, once she's barefoot, she doesn't even notice the lack of shoes.

But you've done that in really intense action-sequences before now.
I suppose the question I'm really asking is whether you want to see the characters interact mainly in personal situations like the opening J/T scene, or in action like the Tahiri-vs.-Corran duel?
