	Yes! I keep telling you that you underestimate yourself! Self-degredation is what I do best! I demand the addition of "galactic domination-y" to every reputable dictionary! Well, I'll call up Webster but being dead... he's awful hard to get ahold of. But to answer the implied question: Jacen's parents basically own the galaxy and he's the heir. How galactic domination-y do you suppose it can get? Yeah, but canon Jacen sort of started his galactic domination from scratch. This one just... fell into it. Unless I missed something. I suppose the question I'm really asking is whether you want to see the characters interact mainly in personal situations like the opening J/T scene, or in action like the Tahiri-vs.-Corran duel? I'd like to see both - balance in other words. (No, I'm not Alema, although I am blue - it's damn cold here. ] I meant to say in my page 5 review that I liked the line where Anakin answers Tahiri and uses her name. As far as I know, Han's reaction to defend Chewie was much more instinctive, but I think both of them have the same dislike of cages, yes. Perhaps, like Jacen, that's just because they're in denial, though? You are giving me a lot to think about here - thanks! But he's meant to be the same character, and that the ways in which people tried to make him into a hero have some similarities. I don't want to say too much, though. angry_bendu1 posted: Done! 	Note: Things have been a bit hectic at this end, but here's this week's update. An Old Friend The General stood on the bridge of the Rake, looking out the forward viewports at the Millennium Falcon. Half the fleet was spread along the space-lanes, looking for Anakin Solo and the old freighter, but he was glad he'd found them first. He glanced across at the communications console, and saw the Lieutenant in charge lay down his headphones, and start over to report. "General Baron," the young officer nodded. "I have Captain Solo on the comm. I've told him we'll be sending a shuttle to dock at the starboard airlock." "Good," the General nodded. "Tell him I'm on my way." "Yes, sir." A smart salute. The General turned, his cape flapping behind him, and walked the short distance from the bridge to the Interdictor's scramble hangar. His shuttle was waiting, and the pilot offered him a thumbs-up from the cockpit as he marched up the ramp. The trip from the cruiser to the Falcon took only a couple of minutes, and then there was the thump as the shuttle met the airlock, the hiss of air as the seal was closed, and the atmosphere aboard the two ships equalized. The General adjusted the pearl-handled slugthrower pistol at his hip - a present from Mara, years ago - and walked up to the airlock, as the hatch slid open. Anakin was waiting on the far side, with a very pretty blond girl, barefoot and dressed in civilian clothes. She narrowed her green eyes suspiciously at the new arrival. Anakin put a protective arm around her shoulder, and gave her a reassuring smile. "Hey, junior," the General grinned. "Taking after your father, huh?" He turned back to the girl, and offered her his most chivalrous bow, and his brightest smile. "We haven't been introduced, have we?" Anakin stepped in. "Uncle L--ah, General," he said, with a slightly nervous grin. "This is Lieutenant Veila of the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps. She didn't actually want to defect, but the Imps got the wrong end of the stick, and tried to kill her too...." A flicker of surprise flashed like an adder in the green of the girl's eyes, but Anakin pressed on quickly. "She was actually doing a pretty good job of capturing and interrogating me," he said, with a generous grin. That just made the girl's expression change from surprise to barely-contained outrage. He stepped in quickly to save his unofficial nephew, smiling brightly. "Happens to the best of us, Lieutenant. Took me until the Empire tried to occupy my planet before I saw the error of my ways." The girl stared at him, with a stubborn frown on her face - a look he was starting to think he'd seen before. He offered her his hand, and decided he could trust her. Gambler's instinct. "General Baron Lando Calrissian, head of Alliance Ordnance and Supply.... I guess I'm your new sugar-daddy, Miss... ahh?" "Veila." The girl shook his hand, but she didn't look happy. "Veila," he echoed, trying to place her. That was what Anakin had said - Lieutenant Veila. Was it her surname, or did she just have the one? In response, she gave a quick side-glance at Anakin. He responded with a side-glance of his own, a grin, and an encouraging nod at Lando. She gave a small shrug, still uncomfortable. Lando looked back at her, rubbing his chin thoughtfully, glancing down at her bare feet. Veila, Veila... It sounded familiar.... Then it came back to him. Tahiri! "Tahiri Veila!" he exclaimed, and stepped forward to wrap her in a hug, careful to avoid her toes. He found himself grinning from ear to ear. "I shoulda known that Han Junior here would get you back eventually!" Tahiri answered with a nervous grin, and although she hugged him back, she answered his enthusiasm a little awkwardly. Lando pushed back a little from the hug—but he kept his hands on her waist, still grinning. He was using his very best smile, the one he reserved for friends and kids. He looked at her, recognizing the outline of her childhood features—and seeing how much she'd changed. "He-eey," he drawled. "You're all grown up. You were knee-high to a nerf last time I saw you, Tahiri." Out of the corner of his eye, Lando caught a tense movement from Anakin. The kid looked like he thought his personal space was being invaded, and took a step closer in response. Abruptly, Tahiri pulled back out of Lando's arms, and took two steps away, looking a little bit lost. "Hey, relax," Lando smiled. "You don't remember me, do you?" "It's okay," Anakin said, moving in close to her. The kid was trying to sound reassuring, but Lando wasn't quite sure if it was working. Tahiri smiled at both of them in reply—but she still looked slightly nervous, slightly lost. Anakin looked at Lando. "I think the Imps did something to her memory," he explained. The older man nodded back, hiding a wince. He was pretty sure it was hurting Anakin a lot more than he would admit. It came through in subtle hints in his voice and expression. "We're working on it," Anakin went on. Then he paused, and his frown became confused, more like Han than Leia. "What are you doing here, anyway?" "There's been a change of plans," Lando said, sighing. "Your contact on Nar Shadaa has been compromised. We're not sure if it's connected with what happened on Tatooine, but... we saw Alema get snatched, and if she broke, they may have wound up the entire network there." Anakin responded to the bad news with a grim look. "So you just want us to head back to base?" Tahiri's expression flickered from polite interest to sudden alarm. Anakin responded with a reassuring look, and a protective squeeze-hug. "It'll be okay. We don't bite. Hey, Lando's the second-most-powerful guy in the Alliance... after, uhh, Dad? It's gonna be okay." Lando looked her in the eyes, and grinned. "Besides, there are some old friends of yours back at headquarters who'd like to see you again, Tahiri." Then he smirked at Anakin. "You owe me for that save in Mos Eisley, by the way." "Okay, okay," Anakin said, one hand in his pocket, the other arm round Tahiri, a big grin on his face. Out of the corner of his eye, Lando saw that Tahiri had noticed his comment, slotting another piece of the puzzle into place. Anakin seemed oblivious, though. "Any message you want for Dad?" Lando shrugged. "Just tell him I say hi. I should be back in the next few days. Heading out to..." He paused carefully, but Tahiri's attention seemed more polite than focused, not as if she was listening in. "Well, Han knows where I'm going." "Yeah," Anakin nodded—and just then, Lando's commlink began to play. It was the Comms Lieutenant from the Rake. "General. The outer pickets have detected what may be an Imperial scout ship entering the system." "I'm on my way." Anakin offered him a Solo grin. "Okay, Uncle Lando. Good hunting." Tahiri, he observed, hadn't really reacted to the scout ship comment. She seemed relaxed now, in tune with Anakin, just as she had been when they were kids. "Same to you, kiddo," Lando answered to Anakin, before turning slightly on his heel, and bowing at Tahiri. "Tahiri. I'll bring you back a present from home." That earned him an amused, if slightly doubtful, grin, and he found himself grinning back. "You've not lost your smile," he told her. "You two keep safe." Then he looked at Anakin for a moment. "Take care of her, Anakin." He glanced around him at the familiar architecture of the Falcon, feeling a twinge of nostalgia for the days when he'd been the old freighter's captain - before he was a Baron, or a General, or a politician. "And of her." Anakin saluted, Rebel-style, "Will do, Uncle Lando." The General bowed again, with a smile for Tahiri and a wink for Anakin. Then he turned and returned to his ship. His ever-present bodyguards had been waiting inside the airlock, out of sight of Anakin and Tahiri, but now they turned round with him, and followed obediently at his heels. *** As the airlock rolled shut, Tahiri felt Anakin put his arm around her again. It wasn't exactly unpleasant, or unwanted—but it reminded her that they were alone again. They would have to deal with what had happened eventually, she supposed. It had all happened so quickly... Looking back, she wasn't sure what had come over her. Anakin had saved her and he was kinda cute, but she could have expressed her gratitude in a more appropriate manner. Not that it wasn't fun... Tahiri sighed, tensing a little. Then she turned. "So, where are we going now? Or can you even tell me that?" Anakin answered with a grin, half-amused, half-wry - not unlike her own, right now. But his eyes told her that he hadn't expected that question. "It's a surprise, okay." His grin grew brighter. "But I think you'll like it." "Uhm... Okay..." Tahiri was still stiff in his embrace. "I think we should go over to the cockpit, then? Or do you want me to stay in the back?" Whatever else happened, she didn't want to make trouble. She felt awkward with the idea of joining the Rebels, but Anakin was the nearest thing to a friend she had now... In answer he just wrapped his arm tighter around her, and led her away from the cockpit and the main hold, towards the rear of the ship. "Come on," he said, "let's go and check over the engines before we jump outa here. I hope Uncle Lando's not damaged them with that stunt of his..." "Uh... Okay..." She followed him, falling in step. Things have been a bit hectic at this end, but here's this week's update. hope that it wasn't anything too serious ah, it's soo good to see Lando is on the side of the angels this time around. But that's to be understood since he'd join in with Han. I especially like his realization on just who Lt. Veila is in this post. Anakin though shows just how much his father's son in this post. He leads in his a grin and his mouth, and doesn't let up. Great characterization, IMO. Finally Tahiri. She's starting to shift from her standard Imperial self, and we're getting more of the girl from the JJK showing through. But I'm still wondering how things will shift again when she's presented with Jacen once again. 	Wow so Anakin got Tahiri back safely into Rebel territory? He is a Han junior , hmmm so Lando is his uncle ? I see, hmmm I wonder if Tahiri will ever realize she's a spy or Jacen will tell her in a Force vision/dream, just a guess. And for that thing on Jaina...um well the prospect of having her own squadron is more then tempting, I mean she no longer has to follow under Kyp's directions yet she feels something for the scoundrel, but she also has her father's recklessness and hot temper within her as well.
