I'm caught up now, Kidan, and I'm unsure what to say. You are keeping us all nicely in the dark, with every part you post posing more questions than solving them. 
Sannah seems to be warming up to Anakin, which is good? Tenel Ka is just weird - not the usual Tenel Ka-class weirdness, but something of a higher order of magnitude. I wonder what is going on with the poor girl? Or should I say girls? All of them seem to have their issues. Jaina, for one, is awfully depressive, isn't she? And where is Luke? Where is any male, by the way? The only one who's made an appearance except for Anakin is Corran. Have the Dathomiri taken over the galaxy?
The Anakin/Tahiri interaction is nice. He does like teasing her, doesn't he? 
Oh, and is Eryl hitting on Anakin?
Where is this going?
All in all, keep going; I'm hooked.
I'm still unsure if the regular updates are a good thing or not. On one hand, it allows one to read often, on the other hand, there generally is not a lot of it, and you easily lose sight of the big picture.

wonderful!! And it's still highly early in this thing. We're on ch. 5, and there's 24, and each chapter is broken up into 4 parts *shrugs* BUT I can say we'll start to get the answers to the various girls soon enough...

and Sannah is warming up slightly, and TK is weird, and fear not, we get to find out what's happening with her. And yes, all of them do have their issues, as for Jaina, well... we'll get to find out the reasons for that. As for Luke, he was in ch. 1. As for other males, Raynar is there quite often, as he's in Anakin's and Jaina's class. And we've also seen Ganner and of course a baby-Ben....

 it looked the other way around to me... but I wasn't trying to make it seem that way... rather TK doesn't have a whole lot of friends, so she's pulling in Anakin

I'm still unsure if the regular updates are a good thing or not. On one hand, it allows one to read often, on the other hand, there generally is not a lot of it, and you easily lose sight of the big picture.
I know. Each post is about 1k words, while each chapter is an average of 4.5k. I was torn between the large weekly posts and the smaller thrice-weekly ones.
But, I tell everyone what, if I get a PM from everyone I send pm's to saying that they'd rather have a single large post, well I'll do it that way starting with chapter 6.

Anakin pushed open the doors of the academy and dashed out, looking around trying to find the girl. He finally spied her, standing close to the edge of the forest at the far end of the meditation garden. Anakin quickly walked that way, slipping through the garden quietly.
As he neared, he stepped onto a twig, snapping it. Her head twisted around, surprise etched onto her face.
Anakin grinned at her, saying, "You're here again?"
She turned so that her whole body was facing him. "Yes," she responded with a small grin of her own. "I'm here again."
She started walking down a path, her feet crunching against the marble gravel which lined it. Anakin quickly caught up to her, falling into step beside her.
"Your name's Nelani, right? What's your last name?"
She gave him a smile and a mischievous wink. "I think I'll keep it a secret. Mysterious girls have a certain charm to them. At least that's what my mother always told us."
Anakin laughed. "I've found that there are a lot of mysterious girls here."
"You can call me Nelani," she said.
Anakin nodded. "I think you can call me, Big Brother."
"Okay, Big Brother."
Anakin stopped and shook his head. "Maybe you shouldn't call me that."
She giggled. "Yeah, it was kind of odd."
They began to walk again. "So, how is your cold? Are you taking lots of medicine?"
She answered quietly, "I'm taking lots."
"Are you listening to what the doctors tell you?"
She giggled again. "Not really."
Anakin sighed. "You should listen to them, or you'll never get better."
"That's true," she replied slowly. "I'll listen to them."
"If you do that, it'll get better quick," he said. Then he patted her on the top of her head.
She looked up at him and in an almost whisper said, "You really are kind of like a big brother."
Anakin frowned, not quite certain he heard her. "What did you say?"
She quickly shook her head. "Nothing," she replied, and then she smiled up at him.
They continued walking for a little while longer. Finally, Anakin spoke again. "So, why did you come up to the Temple today? Classes are over."
She looked down at her feet, watching them as they walked. In silence, they walked a few more steps and for a moment, Anakin wondered if she was going to respond. Then she said, "I... I thought I could come see you."
She stopped walking and Anakin continued for a few more steps while he processed her confession. He stopped and turned to face her. "Me?"
She nodded her head.
"Why?"
A blush appeared on her pale skin, as she replied, "Because you're an interesting person."
Anakin frowned. "I heard someone tell me that earlier."
Nelani giggled. "That's because everyone's thinking the same thing." She looked around, and then focused on the river in the distance. "Do you like the water?"
Anakin shook his head. "Not really. I... I'm actually kind of afraid of the water, of being in open bodies of it I mean."
"Oh," she said. "I like the water, its pretty. Especially the river here."
She stared for a moment longer and then focused on him. "Are you sure you don't like it? Won't you go swimming with me?"
"You have a cold, don't you?" He said. "If you go swimming, won't you start feeling worse?"
"Ever since I've came here, I've wanted to go swimming in that river over there. Won't you please go with me?" She thought for a moment and her face darkened slightly. "It's been my dream since I've got here. And... And it was my dream to swim in the river back home when I was little too."
Anakin frowned and then looked out to the river for a moment. He then turned his attention back to Nelani. "Tell you what, once you get better, then I'll take you swimming in the river."
A bright smile suffused her face. "Really?"
He nodded, and said, "But I can't guarantee that I'd go in very far."
"Okay, I'll wait then." She waved to him, saying, "And I have to go now. Bye, Anakin."
"Take care of yourself."
Anakin watched as she walked away, all the time waving to him over her shoulder.
A while later he was hiking up the hill towards his apartment complex and saw Sannah running down the hill towards him. He waved at her and said, "Hey, Sannah."
She grinned and waved back. "Hey! I'm off to get some chale for Mara."
"Don't get lost," Anakin teased.
She stomped her feet. "Hey, I'm not a kid, I can find my way."
"You look like a kid," he replied.
"I'm an adult!" She yelled at him. Her eyes narrowed in anger, and a pout graced her lips.
Anakin looked at her and arched an eyebrow. "Really?"
"Yeah!"
Anakin pulled out a small credit chit. "Then buy me some erotic magazines while you're in the shopping district."
"What are erotic magazines?" she said.
Anakin smiled at her. "Don't you know? They're for adults and you get excited when you read them. They're great." Sannah took the credit chit as Anakin continued, "Just tell the shop keeper that you want an erotic magazine. If there's a lot of different ones, just buy the shop keeper's recommendation."
"Can I read them as well?" She asked.
"If you're an adult," Anakin responded.
"Yeah, I'm an adult," she said. Then she walked past him, heading towards the shopping district.
Anakin watched her walk down the hill for a moment, and then continued on towards the apartment.
A half hour later, Anakin was lying on his bed, reading a holonovel and eating a meatroll, when the door to his room slammed open with a loud crash.
"Anakin!" Sannah yelled. Her face flushed with a mixture of embarrassment and anger. "I can't buy those... those things. I won't buy them." She pointed at him, while continuing her rant, "It... it was really embarrassing. The shop keeper had to explain it to me!"
Anakin snickered. "It's proof that you're a kid. If you were an adult, then you'd be able to buy them without a problem."
"You're lying!" she responded. Then she blinked hard, and focused on the meatroll he had in his hands. "What's that?"
Anakin glanced towards her and then down at his meatroll. "This? It's just a meatroll."
"A meatroll?"
"Yeah," he replied. "You want to smell it?"
She came closer and he held it out towards her. When she was near enough, she closed her eyes and inhaled deeply while Anakin watched. Suddenly her eyes snapped open and a big grin appeared on her face. Her mouth opened and she leaned forward to take a bite and Anakin yanked it back away from her.
"Hey, I just told you to smell it."
She pouted for a moment. "Did Mara make it?"
"No," he responded. "I bought it."
"Oh," she said. Then she noticed the holonovel in his hand. She gestured to it, saying, "What's that?"
"It's a holonovel." He handed it to her, and she took it and flipped through some of the screens, an amazed expression on her face.
She tilted her head slightly. "Where can you buy this stuff?"
"In the shopping district."
Her eyes lit up with delight. "Then I'll go buy some."
Then she ran from the room. Anakin watched her disappear, trying his best to puzzle out her behavior.

Okay, I finally found the time to read this! I’m gonna post my thoughts as I finish each chapter since I have the problem of wanting to say a lot, and I'm not sure when I can get to the next one.

Six years. It's been six years since I've been here. And I still can't really remember what happened back then. Looking down at his hands, he sighed again, and a lightning bolt of memory sliced through his brain. Him sitting on a bench just like this one, waiting for someone. Anger, fear, sadness, it was like all of his other memories: a snippet, a simple flash which he did not, could not, understand. They were emotions and images without context or meaning.
 Aw poor Anakin. I hope that he does get his memory back soon, all of it. One of the reasons why I really wanted to read this is to see what you could come up with for a reason why Anakin has lost his memory. And I don’t usually read fics with crossovers I don’t know about, but it’s a Kidan fic
He grinned at the sense of home, of childhood, which the smells brought to his mind. Yet as usual, it was a sense, a feeling, without any memories behind it.
As awesome as those feelings sound, I’m sure he feels lonely without the memories
Sometimes I think he would have rather had stairs put in then these lifts."
Anakin chuckled. "That sounds like Uncle Luke."

Jaina wrapped one of her arms around him and drew him against her. "I think I know what you mean. I have to assume that a lot happened back then. But it's good that you're back. I'm happy about that."
Aw, she’s such a great sister. I think that she was the perfect person to meet him when he came.

I hate that dream And I hope that nothing really bad happened that night all those years ago. But of course, it probably did.
For a moment, worry replaced the amusement in her eyes. But then it was gone, and Anakin wondered if he had imagined it. Her lips twisted into a small grin, something mischievous. "Don't you remember me at all, Anakin?"
Mischievous? Mara? Nooo, not Mara!
I like that you keep mentioning how well Anakin pays attention to the little details. It’s like he can’t remember how these people were before, so he’s filing away all the information big and small so that he can remember things now. And yet, he doesn’t always take in the detail the first time he looks, showing that he’s trying to get the broader image first before focusing on details. I don’t know how people with memory loss react, but it SOUNDS believable to me.
Mara watched as the droid rolled back toward the bedrooms and then turned to Anakin once again. He had to force himself not to recoil from her eyes. They had lost all sense of happiness and amusement, becoming pools of an emotion that Anakin could not easily identify.
"Being just you is a hard thing to do." She paused here. Her voice dropped lower, causing Anakin to strain to hear, as she said, "A hard thing to do."
Hm, well, now that’s odd.
I mean, it’s true. But her behavior is just very mysterious.

Where does she get all that energy, Anakin thought as he stared at her while she hopped back and forth, from one foot to the other. Finally, he spoke. "You've not really changed at all, have you?"

Part of the reason Uncle Luke let them come here is that they were willing to fund, and staff, a training hospital for the Jedi healers. I think it's been there four, maybe five years now."

Again, I like all the detail Anakin is taking in and your mention of certain people he sees…Now I wonder, do most of them have some part in this story, or are you just adding them in for detail?
Jaina frowned at him again, saying, "You were kind of mean to Raynar."
Anakin gave her his half-grin. "I know. But it was fun."
Ah, Anakin. Boy, do I miss him.

Startled, Anakin froze in place. His eyes locked on the girl's bright green ones.
"Get out of the way!"
Within seconds, she had closed the distance between them. Unable to stop, she slammed head first into his chest.
Ah, mesmerized by her eyes.
And well…she DID warn him!
"Tomorrow will be too late." As Anakin said that, he stood up and took her by the hand, and pulled her to her feet. "Now come on, I'll pay for you, but you have to apologize."
Luke would be proud. Aw, Anakin’s so sweet
Anakin cut into her stream of dialog. "You'll get fat."
Erm, did I just say sweet? HEHE oh that cracks me up
So unlike the Anakin we first met
Jaina sat on the bench, a bag of groceries by her side. Mixed emotions of anger and sadness warred on her face as she looked up at him.
She said a single word, "Liar."
aw *hugs her* Poor Jaina
Ohh, yay, the dream…are the dreams helping him with his memory? Or does he have no recollection of them when he wakes up? (I'm sorry if you answered this already...I just glanced through the replies...)

Along one wall was a long, waist high workbench, an array of tools and electronics and mechanical parts spread over the top. Shoved under the workbench in one corner was what appeared to be a headless R2 unit. Two or three blaster rifles were in various states of disassembly and what appeared to be a repuslor sled, the type used by children during winter in the snow, was spread across a large portion of the floor, each type of piece set in precise, neat little piles.
The other half of the room reminded him of his old room on Coruscant; scattered clothes and datapads, a bed shoved tight against the wall and a wardrobe hanging open, clothes falling out.
*giggles* oh that definitely sounds like a room Jaina would have.
The lift reached the ground floor and the doors opened to reveal Jaina standing there, a worried expression on her face.
"I'm sorry, Anakin. Are you okay?"
Anakin looked up at her. "Yeah... I'll be okay. What was in that jam?"
"I don't know. She's never told me. I just know that it's a good idea to have an excuse ready for when she brings it out."
Oh my goodness, that’s so great. Poor Mara, having both of them leave her. But I can definitely see her doing that….and the kids not liking something she does
She seems to be a bit odd, I have a feeling she’s hiding something.

Something about the innate structure, the cultivated format of the gardens, bothered him. Shaking off the odd feelings, he began to walk through one of the gardens.
I’m getting frustrated for Anakin. His memory’s gotta come back soon!
TK was also acting pretty freaking strange. Now you’ve got me entirely confused.
After a moments thinking he called out, "Jump towards your blaster hand."
As soon as he said that, he jumped to the right, fully expecting the girl to jump to her right.
But he was disappointed. Even as he was moving to the right, she jumped towards her left.
Hehe, oh that’s too funny. See the Force wants them to be together
She stomped and twisted away from him, saying, "If that's how you're going to be, I don't think I want to be your friend."
Anakin straightened up finally, and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Wait Tahiri, I'm sorry. But let's go back later and apologize, okay?"
Aww. He wants a friend
Well, Tahiri can be a good friend to him
"Yeah, I used to be in training about six years ago, but something happened, and I don't really remember that much," Anakin replied.
"Anakin... Anakin Solo. I... when you introduced yourself yesterday, I wondered. I mean you had the same name, and were kind of weird. But I just assumed that that was a coincidence. But you came back for me. You remembered our promise! Welcome back, Anakin!"
Oh no talk about mass confusion for Anakin . And poor Tahiri, having him dodge her hug. That makes me sad.
After a moment, she brightened once more and turned towards the dark-haired girl. "So, why are you here on Yavin IV?"
The girl just smiled at them and started down a secondary path. "My house is this way. Bye!"
*blink* Another weird encounter.
And yet another one even after that! Gah! *shakes computer*
You’d think I’d know by now that your fics never clear up until the end and that I should ALWAYS go into them knowing that I’m not going to understand anything.

Jaina frowned. "You've had to have left out most of that story? I didn't understand it at all."
Ah, yes Kidan, listen to Jaina. You’re leaving out most of the story and I’m sitting here confused as all hell.

"It's all right," Mara Jade said. "I'm just glad that she's eating."
*glares* What does Mara know?
"I just remember that I had a grudge against you. That there's something I can't forgive you for. But I don't remember anything else!"
TWO people with amnesia? What HAPPENED all those years ago?
"Looking in a girl's wallet is interesting. It's almost as if you all just pick up random things to shove in here."
That it does. And sometimes we do
"Fine," Mara Jade sighed. "My decision is that we let her stay."
"What?" Anakin exclaimed as the two girls stood up and danced.
*headdesk* what is going on?! Weird people you don’t know shouldn’t stay in your apartment.

"It's Old Corellian. Literally translated," Jaina replied. "It means bad blooded rival, probably a better translation would be brutal enemy."
She growled and darted forward, slamming her small fist onto the top of his head. "I don't want that as a name!"
*snerk* I think it fits too. I’m going to be on Anakin’s side for this one. And stop hitting him in the head!
"She's been out there the entire class," Raynar whispered
Anakin glanced at Raynar for a second and then returned his attention to the girl in the yard. "You know who she is?"
"No."
I feel like all of the Jedi have gone mad.
Nelani included. She is so weird.

Then the mask of her anger was back in place. "That's not the point, Anakin. You said you'd have lunch with me."
I get that she’s upset, especially since this isn’t the first time he did something the opposite of what he said he’d do. Does this have to do with the dream, about him not being able to keep his promises? Not just past promises but current ones as well?
Anakin watched as Horn's grin grew wider at the chorus of groans from the class.
Teachers are evil. And things like this make me glad I’m going to teach math where you don’t watch boring movies
He sighed and rolled his eyes as she stood up and turned away from him, stomping her feet in the process. "Anakin doesn't like me. He pushed me away. I don't think I'm talking to Anakin anymore."
Wow, she’s acting fairly childish. Though Anakin does need to get it through his head that a hug is not an attack. Though Tahiri shouldn’t have jumped him after his reaction the day before…*head spins*
"Yes! My name is Sannah. It must be hard for you, to now know what a cute name I have."
Anakin lifted an eyebrow. "It sounds like a boy's name to me."
I just love Anakin’s reactions to everything.

Finally, a scene began to play out in his mind.
Yes! This is good news indeed
She whispered, "Three... two... one..."
He popped open his eyes, noticing that Sannah was standing by his bed, holding something over his head. Then he yelled, "Zero!"
He does know how to scare a person, doesn’t he? Ah but that’s hilarious and Sannah deserved it

"You need to be nice to Jaina. She's been real lonely for all the time that I've known her."
Hm, weird. Poor Jaina.
Ya know…I just realized that Jacen hasn’t been around. I can’t believe I just realized that. Does HE have something to do with 6 years ago? And why Jaina’s lonely?
I’m just glad he didn’t get side tracked with giving Jaina the data chip

Seems so, but  couldn’t he ask if she was OK? I get that his hands are too full to help her, but still…
Mara continued as if she had not heard them. "I... how..." Her expression seemed to darken, giving her face a haunted cast to it.
GAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! KIDAN!!!!! *headdesk* *smacks computer*
What HAPPENED?
Lemme guess: Tahiri DID drown and Anakin was so traumatized he forgot what happened. They couldn’t find her body and left her for dead. Only she wasn’t dead!
She nodded her head once, quickly. "Yes. Just flickers of the past is all. I... I'll see you later, all right?"
What is she going on about? Hm, yes, I want answers

Sannah's face grew clouded, but Tahiri started bouncing up and down.
Is someone a bit jealous?
Or does she recognize Tahiri from somewhere?
As Tahiri talked, Anakin glanced towards Mara, and noticed that she once more had a slightly haunted look on her face as she occasionally glanced towards Tahiri. As if there was something that she was trying to figure out or remember.
Does no one remember? Or is it that no one told him what happened and now Mara is trying to figure out if this is really Tahiri?
A half memory flashed through his mind, paddling down a river while rain pelted him from above. He shivered as fear clutched at him.
*Shakes fist at river* Evil river
I’m sticking with my assumption until you tell me I’m wrong

Then came that flicker again, it almost felt familiar, but still he saw nothing. Clouds covered the moon, plunging the hallway into shadows. Anakin started to turn back towards Tenel Ka, and from the corner of his eye saw movement.
Before he could react, she was rushing past him and had thrust him against the far wall. He slammed into it with a grunt, and then rolled around to see her running down the hallway, the sword held low. She jumped forward, and sliced down at the empty air, landing in a crouch.
I am all sorts of creeped out right now. I have goosebumps. And I want to know what’s going on. Warrior TK is scary.
And what the hell does the hunter of demons mean? That just gave this the dark undertone I’ve been expecting from the start (and here I was thinking you were going soft )
Anakin stepped further into the apartment. "You know, the security at the Academy isn't that great. I think I might steal Uncle Luke's desk next time."
That’d humor me immensely.
He frowned for a moment and wondered just what he should do. Before he could figure it out, he realized that he was speaking, "Well, to meet in a place like this, it must be fate." He took a step further into the 'fresher. "So, let's take a bath tog-"
*laughs hysterically and dies* Oh crap that was so great. And TOTALLY unlike Anakin which is OK because he has no memory of a lot. And the fact that he doesn’t apologize, but takes over the ‘fresher, is just so….so….kriffing hilarious.

Anakin closed his eyes and sighed. Opening them again, he said, "You caught a cold. Lie down and get some sleep."
Aw he’s too sweet
"Uh-huh." Then her eyes closed the rest of the way, and a soft snore came from her.
I feel so bad for Jaina, her being so tired all the time. That can’t be good.

He sighed. "Oh come on, give me an answer. You can answer 'yes' or 'no' or anything at all would be okay."
She finally looked away from the window; amusement flashed through her gray eyes as she simply said, "Yes."
And who says that Tenel Ka doesn’t have a sense of humor?
"So, you made this?"
"Yes..."
Anakin straightened slightly. "Then you pass."
"Pass what?"
"To become my wife."

She gave him a smile and a mischievous wink. "I think I'll keep it a secret. Mysterious girls have a certain charm to them. At least that's what my mother always told us."
hehe I like her! That’s an entertaining thing to teach your daughter.
A blush appeared on her pale skin, as she replied, "Because you're an interesting person."
*nods* Oh yes he is. And also entertaining
"I'm an adult!" She yelled at him. Her eyes narrowed in anger, and a pout graced her lips.
Anakin looked at her and arched an eyebrow. "Really?"
"Yeah!"
Anakin pulled out a small credit chit. "Then buy me some erotic magazines while you're in the shopping district."
"What are erotic magazines?" she said.
Oh my goodness gracious….I think I died from laughing so hard. “What are erotic magazines?”….oh Anakin, that’s SO Sith-like! HAHAHA
Phew, finally finished. I’m excited that there are 19 more chapters left. I like you splitting them into sections every few days since I don’t usually have a lot of time & can easily read a 1k post while eating breakfast or something. But that’s just me, if you do longer weekly posts, I’ll find time for that as well
And, of course, put me on the PM list.

Okay, I finally found the time to read this! I’m gonna post my thoughts as I finish each chapter since I have the problem of wanting to say a lot, and I'm not sure when I can get to the next one.

:( Aw poor Anakin. I hope that he does get his memory back soon, all of it. One of the reasons why I really wanted to read this is to see what you could come up with for a reason why Anakin has lost his memory. And I don’t usually read fics with crossovers I don’t know about, but it’s a Kidan fic
Aye, poor Kidan - as for his memory, well... we'll see about getting at least some of it back soon.

I like that you keep mentioning how well Anakin pays attention to the little details. It’s like he can’t remember how these people were before, so he’s filing away all the information big and small so that he can remember things now. And yet, he doesn’t always take in the detail the first time he looks, showing that he’s trying to get the broader image first before focusing on details. I don’t know how people with memory loss react, but it SOUNDS believable to me.

Some dreams are things that Anakin is dreaming-and those tend to be his memories. The dream/monologues at the start of some of the chapters are something else altogether

Anakin looked up from the holonovel he was reading, glancing quickly at the chrono. He stretched and yawned, then scratched at his head for a moment. He stood up from his chair and walked from the room, looking up and down the hallway for a moment.
Then he walked down the hallway to Sannah's door. He paused for a moment, and then rapped twice on the door. "Sannah? Have you gotten back yet?"
When no answer came from the far side of the door, he opened it, and stepped into the room. His mouth dropped open as he saw the mass of holonovels spread around Sannah as she lay in the middle of the floor. In one hand was a half-eaten meatroll, the other manipulated the controls of the holonovel right in front of her. Her eyes are fixated on the mechanism, part of her lower lip caught between her teeth.
He shook his head, and looked around again. "Did you buy all of this?"
Sannah made a small sound.
Anakin frowned and said, "You had this much money?"
She made the sound again.
Walking forward, he crossed over to her and then knelt down beside her. He then opened a box, noticing it contained two more meatrolls. He gave her a quick glance. "If you eat this much, you won't have any room for dinner." Picking up one of the meatrolls, he continued. "I'll help you out."
She made the sound again.
"I can have some, right?" he said.
She acted as if he had not spoken. He frowned for a moment. Then he reached out and physically nodded her head and in a higher pitched voice, said, "Sure, Anakin."
Taking a bite out of the meatroll, he watched her for a moment. A quick shake of his head and another bite of the meatroll and then he said, "I wonder if anything could break her concentration."
Popping the last bite of the meatroll into his mouth, he stood up and walked from the room, returning to his own.
A short while later, his door burst open. Sannah stood there, her hands on her hips a scowl decorating her face. "Anakin!" He glanced up to look at her as she pointed towards him. "You took my meatroll!"
Anakin smirked at her. "Nope. I ate it right there next to you."
She blinked hard, her stance and posture softening. "When?"
"While you were reading. I asked if I could have some."
"What did I say?"
"You said, 'sure, Anakin,'" he replied.
She stomped her foot and advanced further into his room. "You're lying!"
Before Anakin could reply, Mara came up behind her. "Sannah, you're back. Did you get the chale?"
Sannah grimaced slightly and dropped her head, clasping her hands together.
Anakin tilted his head slightly, watching her actions. Suddenly a thought came to him and he said, "Hey, did you use the chale money for yourself?"
Her head snapped up. "No!"
He arched an eyebrow. "Then give it back."
She dropped her head back down, tucking her chin against her chest. "I... I... I will, later..."
Anakin stood up and walked closer to her. "I'll tell you though. If you end up saying 'I did use the money' things will go worse for you. If you did, you should tell us now."
"Wait," she whispered.
Anakin crossed his arms over his chest, and stood over her.
Sannah looked up at him, her eyes edged with tears. Then she glanced over at Mara for a moment before returning her attention to Anakin. "I used the money on myself."
"Hey!" he yelled.
Sannah yelped in fear and then ducked behind Mara, wrapping her arms around her waist. "You said you'd be nice to me."
"No I didn't," Anakin replied. "I just said I'd be meaner to you if you didn't tell us the truth."
Mara placed a hand on Anakin's shoulder. "Let me handle it from here, understand?"
Anakin looked down and saw the fear in Sannah's eyes and then sighed. Mara wrapped an arm around the girl's shoulders and then lead her back down the hall to her room. Anakin watched them disappear and then walked closer to the room. He leaned against the wall across from her room and waited.
A short while later, the door opened and Mara stepped out. She glanced back into the room and then closed the door. She then focused on Anakin where he leaned against the wall.
"So," Anakin began. "Did you yell at her?"
Mara smirked at him. "I told her that I'd set her up with a small stipend. That should let her be able to get anything she wants."
Anakin blinked hard, and then scratched at the top of his head. "That's it?"
Mara nodded. "Yes."
"She won't learn her lesson that way."
Mara shrugged her shoulders, saying, "Ask your uncle about forgiveness sometime."
He frowned for a moment. "But you're extra nice to her."
She shrugged her shoulders again. "She's lost her memory-and if you've not noticed there's not a lot of other folks on this planet that have yellow eyes." She thought for a moment and then speared him with a glare, her green eyes boring into his. "You have to be nice to her to." Then Mara walked away from him, calling out over her shoulder, "I'll make everyone dinner soon."
Anakin watched her go and then turned back to Sannah's door. He stared at it for a moment and then lowering his head returned to his own room.
After dinner, Anakin walked out of the apartment. As he neared the elevators the doors opened and Jaina stepped off. She turned a bright, infectious grin on him. "Hey Anakin."
"Bye, Jaina," he replied.
"Where are you going?"
Anakin got onto the lift and pressed the button that would take it to the ground floor. He grinned at her and said, "Demon hunting."
The doors closed on her confused expression and it took him down to the ground floor. He walked over to the grocery store and picked up a few items; after making the purchases her quickly went to the temple and broke in. He walked up the stairs, wandering the halls, admiring the blue glow of the moonlight as it shone through the wide windows.
Finally he turned a corner and came to a stop. Tenel Ka stood there, her face impassive as she stared out the window. The ornate sword sheathed and her hand rested on its hilt.
"So," he began. "You're here tonight as well."
She did not respond.
"It looks like Eyrl doesn't know that you do this."
She still did not respond.
Anakin grinned slightly. "So, are you hungry?"
She finally responded. "A little."
"I see," he said with a smirk. Then he reached into his bag and pulled out a snack food. He held it aloft and she turned to stare at him.
"What's wrong?" Anakin said.
"Unwrap it for me."
Quickly, he the wrapping off the snack and held it out to her. She took it from him and bit into it.
"Where did you get that sword from? Is it real?"
She did not respond.
Anakin sighed. Then he heard a rustle behind him-but before he could react Tenel Ka had drawn her sword and swung the sword hard. The hard clang of metal on stone echoed down the hallway.
Anakin turned to find Sannah standing there fear etched onto her face as she stared at Tenel Ka. The sword's point was pressed tight against the wall and a brown drape was wrapped around it, part of the cloth still covering Sannah.
"Sannah?"
Sannah stepped back a few steps, her hands coming up to her mouth as she turned away from them. "I... I thought I was going to die..."
"What are you doing here, Sannah?" he asked.
She twisted back around and stuck her hand out towards Anakin. "I came to scare you!"
Then she looked towards Tenel Ka. "Who is she?"
Anakin shook his head. "You just got what you deserved."
Tenel Ka held her hand out towards Sannah, saying, "Come here."
Sannah took a hesitant step forward and Tenel Ka placed a hand on her head. Sannah frowned at her. "What are you doing?"
Tenel Ka stared at her for a moment and then shook her head. "Nothing."
"Anakin," Sannah began. "She's dangerous. Let's get out of here."
Anakin chuckled. "Dangerous? Anyways, I don't know where this curtain came from, but you need to put it back."
"But it's a bother."
Anakin held it out towards her. "Clean it up."
Sannah groaned but took the curtain. She then turned and took a few steps away from them. Then she stopped.
"What's wrong?" Anakin asked. "Go home already."
Sannah slowly turned to look at him again; fear once again causing her eyes to shine. "I'm scared. Come with me?"
He sighed and glanced towards Tenel Ka. "I'll be going with her."
Without waiting for a reply, he started walking towards Sannah. Then to his surprise, Tenel Ka called out, "Anakin..."
He turned to look at her.
"Be nice to her."
It took an effort of his will for his mouth to not drop open. He wondered for a moment, if Tenel Ka and Aunt Mara were collaborating.
"Hey! Hurry up!" Sannah called out from behind him.
He watched Tenel Ka for a moment longer. Then he turned away as Sannah yelled again, "Come on! Let's go."
