She had finally been granted admission to the palace, but had spent the last several hours in a waiting room, undoubtedly under observation. Jacen had told her that the same transmission would disable the palace's security cameras, so she began retrieving various lightsaber components from her disguise and snapped them together. Segmenting a lightsaber in such a way had been difficult, but she knew the weapon would be absolutely essential to the plan. Even though it would not be as effective as her usual lightsaber, the blade would still be useful. She slipped off her ridiculously high-heeled shoes and opened the door to the chamber, holding a small sensor designed to detect Jacen's tracer in her other hand. She was immediately spotted by the guard positioned just outside the door. "I am sorry, my lady, but the Queen Mother has not yet granted you an audience." Tahiri's only response was a Force-enhanced kick to his head, knocking him out, but not seriously injuring him. She claimed his blaster and set it to stun before shooting him for good measure. She walked quickly toward the residential section of the palace, hiding her lightsaber to avoid detection. The blast door between the public and private sections of the palace was open but guarded. Two quick stun blasts dropped the guards, but as Tahiri walked through the doorway, an alarm sounded. "Damn," Tahiri cursed, breaking into a run now that she had been detected. They must have some kind of sensor to ensure that only authorized personnel are allowed in the residence. She easily stunned a few guards, but as she approached Allana's room, she saw a familiar figure. "Tesar?" "This one heard that you were following Jacen," he said, igniting his green lightsaber. "But he waz hoping you would not fight your friendz." "I don't want to fight you either, Tesar," Tahiri answered. "So why don't you just get out of my way so I don't have to?" "It iz wrong to take a child from her mother," Tesar hissed. "Is it any worse than keeping her from her father?" Tahiri retorted. He is trying to stall you, Anakin's voice whispered in her head. Tenel Ka and Lowie are on their way. He's right, she thought, leaping into action. She surprised Tesar with a quick charge, but he was able to block her now-activated lightsaber and go for a disabling strike. Tahiri dodged and swung for his legs, but he leapt over the lightsaber. He twisted in midair, attempting to hit Tahiri with his tail. Tahiri countered by using the Force to push him into a wall. She tried to run past him to Allana's quarters, but he used the Force to pull her back. "This one will not let you take her," he said, standing back up. "This one doesn't want to kill you, but if it iz the only way to stop you, he will." "I was just about to say the same thing to you," Tahiri replied. "Jacen deserves to see his daughter again, and I can't let you prevent that." She pulled a chandelier down from the ceiling. Tesar was able to avoid it, but that left Tahiri a small opening, which she took advantage of with a slash, cutting off half his tail and leaving a smoking gash in his left leg. Tesar tried to stand again, but the pain weakened him enough that Tahiri was able to pull the lightsaber out of his hand and send it sliding down the hall. Tahiri drew her blaster and hit him with three stun bolts before he fell to the ground unconscious. That done, Tahiri continued toward Allana's room. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The alarm indicating that the palace residence wing had been breached instantly brought Tenel Ka out of the meditation she had sunk into while Archon Thane requested that he be granted control of one of the Relephon Moons in exchange for his continued support. "Captain, please escort Archon Thane out," she snapped. "My queen, what of my request?" Thane asked. "I have more urgent concerns at the moment," Tenel Ka answered, rising from her throne. Not waiting for his answer, she ran out of the audience chamber. She was met at a closed blast door by Lowbacca, who was already holding his lightsaber. Tenel Ka nodded in greeting before placing her hand on the door panel. Recognizing her, palm print, the door slid open. The two Jedi continued at a run while Tenel Ka pulled her lightsaber off her belt. "Tahiri," she said, recognizing the Force signature of the person dueling with Tesar. Lowbacca nodded in agreement, then grunted a response when they felt Tesar's Force presence fade slightly. [Tesar is unconscious.] "Indeed," Tenel Ka replied as they rounded the last corner to Allana's room. "Tahiri, there is no reason to do this," Tenel Ka called as she saw her former friend cutting into Allana's door. Tahiri looked up to see where Tenel Ka was in time to avoid a charge from Lowie, whose lightsaber was not yet ignited. Tenel Ka walked forward, igniting her lightsaber. Tahiri was trapped between them, but didn't seem inclined to surrender. She feinted at Lowie before turning to attack Tenel Ka, swinging her lightsaber at her legs. Tenel Ka blocked and Tahiri used the momentum from the block to turn back around and block an attack from Lowie. Tahiri's knowledge of their fighting styles kept her from being immediately overwhelmed, but being stuck between them made it difficult and Tenel Ka could see that she was tiring and directed a thought to Lowbacca. Keep her lightsaber occupied. As Lowie pressed his attack, Tenel Ka kicked Tahiri in the back of her knee, causing her to fall to the ground. A strong slash from Lowbacca knocked Tahiri's lightsaber out of her hand. "Tahiri, give up," Tenel Ka said. She was still very much a Jedi, even though she was doing some things that weren't all that ethical. 	Chapter 30 Rendezvous Point Aleph, Corellian Sector "Colonel Solo, Admiral Darklighter would like to speak with you," Lieutenant Commander Tebut reported. "Would you like to take the transmission in your office?" "No thank you, Tebut. Here will be fine," Caedus replied from his chair in the fleet command center. When Tebut indicated the channel was open, Caedus spoke again. "What can I do for you, Admiral?" "I just wanted to confirm the battle plan before my fleet jumps to its staging area," Gavin answered. "We'll jump as close to Centerpoint as possible in 6 hours to correspond with Coronet midnight. We will engage Centerpoint's defenders, then send you a message when we are heavily engaged?" "Correct," Caedus confirmed. "May the Force be with you." Before Gavin could respond, Caedus closed the channel. Seeing that nothing else required his immediate attention, he allowed himself to slip into meditation. As he felt Darklighter's fleet jump out, he touched the Force to determine how he would best be able to influence the battle. After a few minutes, a realization came to him. They seek to trap my fleet and destroy us, but they must know they can't defeat me unless… Suddenly, the rest of their plan became apparent to him. They are settling for trying to distract me. "Tebut, have navigation plot a course for Sluis Van and transmit it to the rest of the fleet," he ordered. She turned to face him in surprise. "Sir, what about the attack on Centerpoint?" "Are you questioning my orders, Lieutenant Tebut?" he asked, threat evident in both his words and his tone. She was taken aback by her sudden demotion. "No, sir. I was just concerned that Admiral Darklighter expects us to be in a position to reinforce him with Confederation reinforcements arrive." After my victory, if Darklighter wins, the war will be essentially over. And if he dies, Cha will lose one of her biggest supporters. Either way, I win. "I am aware of that, Ensign. Now will you relay my orders or will I have to relieve you?" Rather than responding directly, she brought her commlink to her mouth. "Navigation, set course for Sluis Van, best possible speed, and stand by to execute." "Now that wasn't so hard, was it?" Caedus asked. "Now report to Personnel for reassignment to a position more appropriate to your rank, Ensign Tebut." Rwookrrorro, Kashyyyk "Lowbacca has already left on the Rock Dragon with Tesar and Allana," Tenel Ka's hologram told the assembled Jedi. "If you wish to deal with her, I can take Tahiri to you on the Dragon Queen as soon as the brig is prepared to contain a Jedi." "I don't think it would be a good idea to bring her here," Master Katarn commented when the hologram disappeared. "Jacen could have intended for her to be captured so he could track her to our base." "No," Leia answered. "Kidnapping Allana was more important to him than that, and he knows he won't get another chance at her." "Why is that?" Streen asked. "Leia's right," Luke interrupted. There's no reason to explain that to them yet, even though they'll probably figure it out when they see her. "Even if he didn't plan for her to be captured, don't you think he's smart enough to have a fallback plan?" Tionne asked. "I'm convinced that Jacen brainwashed her somehow," Corran reminded them. "If we can find out how, we'll be able to safeguard against him doing it to anyone else." "I concur," Cilghal said. "Between myself and Knight Trespar, we should be able to determine whether he did anything to make her more open to suggestion." "You to handle the medical angle and Chaya to take care of the psychological angle, I take it?" Tionne asked as her new artificial hand twitched slightly. "I agree that if we bring her here, that would be the best approach to take." "That makes sense to me," Kyp said. "Even if Jacen tracks her here, we are in a good position to defend ourselves. Hapes is close enough that Tenel Ka would be able to get assistance to us before Jacen would be able to make any substantial gains." "If we can break Jacen's control over her, she could help us get down to Coruscant without having to worry as much about security," Jaina pointed out. Even Katarn nodded his head at that point.
