	First! Great, now the Jedi Council will learn of HK-47 and his terrorist schemes. Now is the time to bring Kyle Katarn out of retirement to take out HK-47. I would LOVE to see that battle! Or even any Master going up against the famous assassin droid. Love it. I'm probably going to have Kyle involved in some way, but not in a major role. And considering the drop in responses after the HK-47 scene, I might end up cutting back on him too. 	Note: This chapter has not been beta-read. All mistakes are my own. Chapter 16 Star Destroyer Errant Venture, Elshandruu Pica System Syal groaned as Myri picked out yet another shirt that her sister probably knew she'd never wear. She had managed to postpone their shopping trip for a couple of days, but Myri had finally dragged her to Trader's Alley, telling her that she couldn't just sit in front of Holonet News all day. "Are you serious, Myri? That would barely fit me." Syal had selected a few simple outfits, but Myri thought they were too boring and insisted on picking out a few for her to try on. "It would look great on you," Myri said, pushing it into her hands. "At least try it on. After all, I'm buying." Before Syal could answer, her commlink chimed. "Yes?" The voice of her father answered. "Syal, we need you and Myri to meet us in Conference Room 27 as soon as possible." "I know where it is," Myri told her. "We're on our way," Syal answered before deactivating her commlink. "Looks like I won't have time to try that on." "Well, I'm going to buy it anyways. If it doesn't fit you, I'll wear it," Myri said with a big smile. Syal and Myri walked to the front of the store and purchased the clothes, then quickly entered the staff-only area of the Venture. They entered the conference room to the sight of their parents, Tycho, Winter, and Booster sitting around the conference table. "About time you two showed up," Booster commented. "Just injecting some credits into the ship's economy," Myri said lightly, holding up the bag she was carrying. Booster's frown quickly turned into a big smile. "In that case, you should have taken all the time you needed." "So, now that we're all here, what did you want to talk to us about?" Wedge asked. "It looks like Jacen wants to keep a close eye on me. I've been given clearance to park in orbit of Coruscant for the next month," Booster explained. "With as profitable as that would be, they'll know that we're up to something if I turn it down." "Coruscant will mean there will be a lot of military personnel aboard and Syal and I have probably been reported as AWOL by now," Tycho commented. "We'll need to get off the ship." "I should probably not be here when we're in orbit of Coruscant either," Winter suggested. "Jacen has known me since birth, so he might be able to feel my presence." "I'm not planning on leaving," Myri said. "I'm not well-known and I'm sure there will be plenty of chances to get useful information." "Plus I won't give you the time off," Booster said, feigning grumpiness. When the laughter died down, Iella spoke. "I should be able to stay without any problems too." "Well, Wedge, how about the four of us go to Kashyyyk to see if Luke needs our help," Tycho suggested. Great, so now I have to work with the Jedi too, Syal thought. Well I'll probably be able to fly at least. "Are you sure the two of you will be safe here?" Wedge asked his wife and younger daughter. "Who would be looking for me, Dad?" Myri asked. "She has a point there," Iella commented. "And I am good enough with disguises that I shouldn't have any problems." Syal could see that her father wasn't entirely convinced, but Myri's next comment struck home with him. "I won't be in as much danger as Syal has been when she's been flying combat missions." "I don't like it, but I understand," Wedge admitted. Galactic Alliance Fleet Headquarters, Coruscant "According to the Chandrilan Emergency Headquarters, the secondary fires have been extinguished and search and rescue crews are beginning to enter the effected area," a human female Holonet News reporter said. One of the several Holonet News channels had been retasked to provide continuous coverage of the explosion at the site of the Legislative Youth Program graduation ceremony. "You would think that we would have a faster way to get information about the explosion than Holonet News, Senator G'Sil commented to Admiral Niathal. "Neither Intelligence nor the GAG have any presence on Chandrila," Niathal reminded him. "And I am pleased that their government is more focused on saving lives than sending us status updates." "And now we are joined by noted civil rights attorney Nawara Ven to discuss the political implications of this presumed terrorist attack," the reporter said. The display switched to a split screen with the reporter on one side and the middle-aged Twi'lek on the other. "Hello, Selin," Ven greeted. "Corellian Prime Minister Sadras Koyan has issued a condemnation of the attack and has offered the assistance of Corellian Security in the investigation. Do you believe that he is sincere?" the reporter asked. "I cannot see what the Confederation would gain out of such an attack. Chandrila does not provide a substantial amount of manpower or materiel and if their participation was discovered, it would turn many of their supporters against them," Ven said. "He has a point," Niathal commented, speaking over the reporter's next question. "It would do to them what Kashyyyk did to us." "I do not know what, if anything, the investigation has uncovered so far," Ven replied to the unheard question. "My guess is that it was a single extremist." "How do you think the timing of this attack will effect the Galactic Alliance Guard? As you know, a bill to expand the guard was recently voted down in the Senate," the reporter asked. "You know, I don't usually give conspiracy theories much credence, but the timing of the attack is suspicious," G'Sil pointed out. "I have already received communications from planetary governors in my sector that want me to reintroduce the Guard Expansion Bill." "Colonel Solo has made some questionable decisions recently, but I find it hard to imagine that he would order a terrorist attack, much less that his soldiers would carry out the order," Niathal told him. "I somehow doubt that he would have gone through official channels," G'Sil replied. "If he did have a role in it, that could finish tearing the Alliance apart. We may have to take actions to prevent that." "Are you suggesting that we remove him from power?" Niathal asked. I already know you are, but I want to hear you say it. "We could easily use the law he made to remove him like he did with Omas," G'Sil suggested. Niathal waited a few seconds before responding. "It is something to think about, but we would need to make sure that the Guard would support us. If he exceeds his authority again, we will need to make a move." An aide peeked her head through the door. 	Aaaaaaaaah! I can just FEEL the effects of HK-47's killing spree! It is effecting everyone, including Niathal. Great chapter. Creepy isn't exactly what I was going for with the Anakin scene, but I can see how it could be taken that way. Yeah, lots of intrigue going on to set things up for later. Sorry to say that I haven't felt much like writing the past couple weeks, so no update this week. 	Chapter 17 Galactic Alliance Fleet Headquarters, Coruscant "Now that we're all here, let's go ahead and get started," Senator G'sil suggested as Caedus sat down. "Sorry about the delay," Caedus replied, fighting to keep the sarcasm from his voice. "I was on the comm with the lead investigator on Chandrila. I offered the support of the Guard for investigating the attack, but he politely refused." "What measures have you taken to prevent more attacks like that one?" Niathal asked. "As you know, since the Guard Expansion Bill was voted down, we are stretched thin at the moment," Caedus said. "However, I have ordered my staff to determine a way to reallocate resources to cover other large gatherings. Director Kalenda, has Intelligence discovered plans by Confederation paramilitary groups for other such attacks?" Kalenda frowned at his question. "Colonel, we don't even have any evidence to suggest that they were involved in the Chandrila attack. All signal intelligence we have gathered has indicated that they were as surprised as we were about it." Admiral Niathal quickly chimed in with another question for the director of Galactic Alliance Intelligence. "Have your intercepts revealed why their operations have been scaled back since Kuat?" Before she could answer, Caedus spoke. "They are planning a big move soon. I can't tell you where yet, but I can feel that it is coming." "Director Kalenda, do you have any evidence to support Colonel Solo's feeling?" G'sil asked, making little effort to disguise the fact that he was skeptical. "We have nothing to support that assumption at this time," Kalenda answered. "We believe that they are regrouping and attempting to recover from their losses at Kuat and Balmorra." "Or maybe they are counting on us regrouping and are getting ready to make a move while they think we are vulnerable," Caedus suggested. "That is a possibility," Niathal allowed. "I suggest that you focus on the Fondorian fleet. They sustained the fewest losses at Kuat, so they are the most likely spearhead of any Confederation thrust in the near future." "I will take that under advisement," Kalenda replied. "I suggest that we open negotiations with the Hutts to convince them to leave the Confederation," G'sil told the co-Chiefs of State. "Why should we do that? Their fleet is all but destroyed and their army is stuck on Balmorra," Caedus commented. What are you up to, G'sil? "True," Niathal said, understanding G'sil's meaning. "But they are still capable of providing substantial financial assistance to their allies. I'd say that it's worth attempting at least." "They still need to be punished for having joined the Confederation in the first place," Caedus told them. "They are disrupting the order we worked so hard to create." "Getting them to pull out of the Confederation will do more for the war effort than punishing them for their transgressions," G'sil insisted. "In an ideal world, we could probably afford to punish them, but pragmatically, we can't afford to take a hard line with them right now." Rwookrrorro, Kashyyyk Luke stood in the crowded landing area assigned to the Jedi. As he watched, the Millenium Falcon slowly dropped to the tree branch, the smoothness of the landing demonstrating its pilot's expertise. A few minutes later, the ship's ramp lowered. Rather than waiting for the Solos, Luke walked up the ramp, meeting them at the top. "How is Allana?" "She's beautiful," Leia replied with a big smile. "Her eyes remind me of Jacen. They were so full of curiosity." "Tenel Ka gave us a holo of Allana so that you can see what she looks like," Han said, handing the data card to Luke. They discussed Allana for a few minutes before walking out of the ship and turning their attention to other matters. "Jag told me that you killed Alema, but he didn't give me many details," Luke said as they walked away from the ship. "Yes, I did," Leia said. "But she said something before she died that you should know." "Leia, she just said that to hurt you," Han interrupted. "That doesn't mean it isn't true," Jaina responded, gesturing out to the smoke still rising from a patch of forest in the distance. "It does help explain why he did this." "What did she say?" Luke asked. "She said that Jacen is a Sith," Leia answered. "But like I said, we don't have anything to prove it," Han was quick to add. This might hurt them, but they deserve to know, Luke thought. "Actually, we do… Ben overheard a conversation between him and Lumiya in his office." "Why didn't he tell us?" Jaina asked, frowning. "He told Mara," Luke answered simply. "Are you saying…" Leia started. "I should have figured this out on my own," Jaina interrupted. "Dad's right, Alema wanted to hurt us." "Yeah, so?" Han asked, not understanding where his daughter was going with her line of reasoning. "If she had a worse way to hurt us, she would have said it instead," Jaina responded. "Worse like saying that she was able to kill a member of the family," Leia clarified. "But if it wasn't her and it wasn't Lumiya…" Now Han understood where they were going. "No, you can't think… It's one thing for him to commit atrocities, but to murder a member of his own family?" "We don't have any proof," Jaina said to her father. "But Tenel Ka said that he was there to visit Allana that day." "It is something to investigate at least," Luke told them. "Speaking of investigations, are we doing anything to help Chandrila investigate the bombing?" Leia asked as they entered the main building the Jedi were using. "I've sent two knights to help with the investigation. Jaina, I believe you have worked with Thann Mithric and Kolir Hu'lya before?" Luke answered. "Yeah, they were on my team on Corellia," Jaina said. "With everything that has happened, it's hard to believe that was less than a year ago." "A lot has happened since then," Luke agreed, trying to hide the flash of pain her felt. He saw Leia react to the emotions she felt through their bond, but she didn't say anything. "Jaina, the other masters and I have reorganized our pilots into new squadrons to account for our losses and I'd like you to take command of one of them," Luke told her, eager to change the topic. She started to answer before Luke spoke again. "Unfortunately, there's a bit of a catch. We only have enough Stealth-Xs for four of our five squadrons. We have ten XJ6 X-wings…" Jaina interrupted him. "Let me guess, you want me to command the non-stealth squadron." Luke smiled at her typical abruptness. "You have worked with General Fel more than anyone else here, and since he has his own fighter, I thought it would make sense." "I suppose so," Jaina replied. "That's eleven fighters. What are we going to do for the last one?" "I've asked Mirax to see what she can find," Luke answered. "Who is commanding the other squadrons?" Han asked. "Me, Corran, Kyp, and Octa," Luke answered. 	Great. Fantastic. Now that they're (Han/Leia/Luke/Ben/Jaina) are going to investigate Mara's murder. I wonder how that will play out. 	Great post! I hope this leads to more Luke and Leia and Luke and Ben scenes. Well more like more Luke scenes. After Inferno, Allston, Fett, and Denning did him a huge disservice. I mean he's Luke freakin' Skywalker.
