Chapter 9
"Where is this Jacob your taking me to?" asked Mr. Eko.
Mikhail Bakunin was behind him with a gun pointing at his back, taking him to see a man named Jacob. Bakunin had captured Eko after the Dharma Hatch had imploded, sending Eko severel miles away to the Flame station, where Bakunin had taken him as a prisoner. They had been walking for nearly an hour, and Eko was growing restless.
"Not very far from here. We'll be there shortly."
"And why does Jacob want to speak to me?"
"Because he knows your special. He wants to teach you to harness your abilities, ones you might not even know you have."
"And how does he know I'm so special?"
"Have you ever wondered what the cloud of black smoke was doing as you stared at it? It was reading you, Mr. Eko, to see if you were special. You see, that is its purpose. It used to roam free, but Jacob has tamed it and it does as he says. It also...Ah, we are here,"
They had come to a clearing that revelead a cabin that was very old and rusted.
"Now Eko, I must warn you before you enter, and tell you who you will see sitting in there. For it will not be a stranger you see, but your very own brother, Yemi."
Eko punched Mikhail in the mouth, an animal's violence inhabiting his every fiber. Eko was preparing to kick him when Mikhail pointed his gun at Eko's face.
"Don't think you would be the first person I've killed."
"Why do you lie about my brother?"
"It won't be your brother sitting in there. It will be Jacob. You won't see the real Jacob until you come to terms with your brither and the issues that stem from him. You see, Jacob is the embodiment of our inner demons, he puts a face to them and makes us resolve them, so we can be better people. Now walk into that cabin, and find out what your made of."
Eko looked at Mikhail a moment longer, then entered Jacob's cabin.

Wow, when you said we'd be seeing a flashback, I did not expect a flashback to the events of Disturbances Awesome, I always wanted to see what happened with Eko and Mikhail

Teach him to use the Force, maybe?

I have a theory about the cloud of smoke was doing that came to me the other day. We saw that it was reading things from Eko's past in those flashes, but I also thing it was looking into its future and saw that Eko's survival was necessary for the survival of the Island. If Eko had died that day, no one would have been there to push the button when Locke lost his faith in it. After the Hatch Implosion, Eko was no longer needed, so the Smoke monster came back to finish what it meant to do earlier.

No surprise there, I guess...

Interesting
Really cool post, corran  When will we actually find out what happens when Eko went into the cabin? Will we see a flashback of it at the same time he and John visit in the "present"?

We have already seen what happens when Eko enters the cabin. It was back in Disturbances. Jacob tells Eko to bring him Locke.

Nope, just wanted Eko to get Locke for him. It's actually very important.
A week from Monday I'm going on vacation, so this Monday, you'll get a double post. The first part we'll go back to the beach and we'll out what happened to Kate. The second part will be a flashback to a character we haven't seen since last story.

Chapter 11
Jack looked behind him before he was getting ready to punch Benjamin Linus till his face looked liked a squashed tomato. The woman Sayid had called Juliet had uttered those life-saving words.
"How do I know your not lying?" asked Jack, walking over to Juliet, leaving Ben in his semi conscious state.
"You don't. However, I do have information that you might like to hear."
"And what is that?"
"The name of the person we have in your group."
"We kinda already killed Ethan," Hurley replied.
"I'm not talking about Ethan."
"But how is that possible?"asked Charlie with a straight face.
"We put this person on your plane. You see, we knew it was going to crash. We were the ones to stall Desmond from entering those numbers into the computer, causing your plane to crash on this island,"
"Whoa! So that's how we got here," Hurley said with sudden realization.
"And who is this person?" asked Sayid.
"I'll tell you when we get off the Island."
"And how exactly are we going to do that?" asked Nikki, who had remained in the background until then.
"The Others have a submarine. They must have been the ones to attack our submarine when we arrived," a woman stepped out of the trees to be met with the barrel Jack's gun.
"No Jack! That's Nadia, the one that was with Penny," Sayid ran to her and they embraced.
"She's right Jack. We have a submarine docked right next to our village. I can take a group on the submarine back to civilization, and we can come and get the rest of them after we get back."
"What about Kate?" When Jack looked at Sawyer he saw that he was dead white and looked scared
"She's being held in a cell at the Hydra. The station where we kept you, James," Juliet replied.
"Is the Hydra close?" asked Jack.
"No, it's on a much smaller island about two miles from this island,"
"Um, I think there's something you should know," Alex talked for the first time.
"You have information?" asked Sayid, Nadia at his side.
"Yeah. I've heard my Dad talking about something big that was coming to the Island. Me and Karl and Emilio have set explosives to the watchtower next to the runway, so that if these are people who would hurt, we could kill them,"
"You guys have a runway?"
"Yeah, we do," Alex replied to Hurley's question.
"Jack, I think it would be wise if we decide what to do tommorow. We've all been through a lot these past severel hours,"
Jack nodded.
They had tied Ben to a tree, and Sayid was watching him with Nadia. Nadia had volunteered to watch Ben if Sayid wanted a little sleep. He had agreed. Thirty minutes later the silence was destroyed by five syalables.
"Hello, Nadia,"
Benjamin Linus looked at her with his inquistive face.
"What do you want me to do now?" Nadia asked with a frown on her face.
"Let me go,"

Love that description, especially cause that's exactly what Ben's face looked like in Through the Looking Glass when he beat him up

Wow, didn't see that coming. Nice parallel to The Economist when we found out Sayid was working for Ben.
Great post, corran  Lots of stuff going on here. I wonder why Juliet thinks revealing the mole will be leverage once they're off the Island And also what Ben's up to. I know that will be bad...
Are Sawyer and Jack going to journey to the Hydra? Who's going to be the first team to leave on the sub with Juliet? So many questions.
Post more soon so I can start figuring this out!

They would not be nice to a traitor. Juliet knows this, and she'll tell them it was Charlie when they're on the sub. She'll probably manipulate so that Charlie's on the sub when she tells them.

Chapter 12
"What is that?"Nadia pointed towards the ocean.
Nadia and Penny had been running the path around the training building for all Dharma Initiative members. They had become friends since starting there together six months previously. They always ran on Friday, it was required for all Dharma Initiative employees to keep in shape. Neither of them particularly liked it.
"A sailboat, I think," replied Penny.
It was sailing almost directly towards their location. No one else was running anywhere near them, so they decided to investigate. They reached the beach just as the boat hit land. A man appeared from a cabin below deck he looked at them and began yelling,"Penny! Penny!,"
He fell off the boat and in tho the shallow water. They ran too him, turning him over. He had a very nasty gash on his face, blood oozing from it with intensity. He looked at Penny, and began to smile.
"Desmond is alive. He's on an island in the Pacific Ocean," He laughed at this last, then closed his eyes and stopped breathing.
They both stared at him a few more seconds, then Nadia said,"Penny, go get the doctor."
Penny nodded, then began running back towards the Dharma facility.
Nadia saw he was wearing a name tag on his shirt. She leaned over to see what his name was. A hand grabbed her wrist. She began to struggle, trying to get free of this man's grip. He let go abruptly. Nadia fell back.
"Nadia, Sayid is on that same island. You have to rescue him, because if you don't he will die. When you get there, this man will contact you."He pulled a picture out of his pocket."His name is Benjamin Linus. Godspeed, Nadia,"
Kelvin Inman said no more.
