	Title: Queen Jysella Author: SilSolo Summary: Ben and Jysella think little of it when they accept an invitation from Ben’s distant cousin, Allana, to Hapes Prime, until they find themselves in the queen’s empty throne attempting to grant the Queen Allana’s deathbed wish of protecting her children. Keywords: Benella Dramatis Personae (subject to change): Allana Djo-Queen Mother, Jedi Knight (female human from Hapes) Jysella Horn Skywalker-Jedi Knight (female human from Corellia) Valin Horn-Jedi Knight (male human from Corellia) Kieffe “Kee” Horn-Jedi Knight (male human from Coruscant) Ben Skywalker-Jedi Knigiht (male human from Coruscant) Dalnar Djo-late consort (male human from Hapes) Jysella marveled at the expansive view of the rich, forested world before her. The landscape was mostly natural, save for the scattered gem mining stations and the capital. She was glad to have gotten up just as their personal ship dropped out of hyperspace. The dark-haired woman stood there unmoving for minutes, absorbing the radiant view of the world from which she collected her lightsaber gem years ago. “Ben, where are you? You’re usually here by now,” muttered the woman. She hesitantly brought her gaze towards their quarters after what seemed like an eternity and was about to lift her foot when her husband finally responded with some sort of shuffling noise, followed by a crash. “Damn transmitter,” the man cursed amidst the clamor. “Ben?” “Just a second!” Jysella walked into their quarters to see the man tangled amidst a pile of circuits as he held up a machine that projected the hologram of a shimmering, very pregnant beauty that sported her dark red hair in the most elaborate manner known since the departure of Princess Leia. “What is it?” she asked, her curiosity aroused. “My cousin Allana just invited us to Hapes Prime.” Jysella opened her mouth to suggest a polite refusal, but Ben added before she could speak again, “She gave us thousands of credits worth of tickets to tour all of Hapes.” -- Kee Horn sat boredly in the Jedi Temple as the instructors lectured on and on about material that he could care far less about. Just as his head was about to sink to his desk, however, the light on his datapad blinked, indicating an incoming message. More from his mom, probably about Skywalker. If it was more rambling on the man, then the boy couldn’t have cared less. But whatever his mother sent, it couldn’t possibly be less boring than the class, could it? ”Kee, we haven’t even set foot on Gallinore yet, and I already miss it. It’s a beautiful world and you should come see it sometime. I was just an apprentice the last time I was here, just a few years older than you are now. I wanted to vacation here ever since, but we’ve been called to Hapes Prime. The few minutes that I’m spending in writing this may be the last that I spend here. I why I didn’t stop Ben from turning us towards Hapes, only the Force knows. We’re simple Jedi trying to enjoy a few days of our lives; their kind, these Hapans, are anything but simple. 	Bitten by a certain plot-bunny? I think I remember seeing a suggestion for a fanfic similar to the looks of this one and wondered who'd attempt it. And it's off to a very good start! 	Jysella walked into their quarters to see the man tangled amidst a pile of circuits as he held up a machine that projected the hologram of a shimmering, very pregnant beauty that sported her dark red hair in the most elaborate manner known since the departure of Princess Leia. “What is it?” she asked, her curiosity aroused. “My cousin Allana just invited us to Hapes Prime.” Jysella opened her mouth to suggest a polite refusal, but Ben added before she could speak again, “She gave us thousands of credits worth of tickets to tour all of Hapes.” I was hoping the hologram would say, "Help me, Ben Skywalker; you're my only hope." I can’t help but feel that Queen Allana, who invited us to tour her place, is using us and that life won’t be the same after we leave.” Ominous So is Ben Kee's dad or not? I get the impression that he's not, given the name and the fact he refers to Ben as "Skywalker." Will be interesting to learn more about this family. Great start, Sil Looking forward to more. 	"And so, if we don't go, we'll be disgracing both ourselves and her," Jysella concluded as her husband dissolved his disagreeable grimace. "We can only hope that the place has changed even in the slightest." -- "Valin, how is Kee? I know that you're being a great uncle, more like a father to him, and that's more than I can ask. But I'm concerned that he hasn't said anything to me since before I departed. If it is about Ben, I pray that you're right and that in time, he will come to accept him. But what truly disturbs me is Allana's invitation for us to join her on Hapes. Ben would like to believe that she is merely lonely, but I fear that I might know her better, even though we haven't spoken in a long time. You know how we were. You were there all those years ago, when I found out that my old Master finally took on another apprentice. She was like a little sister to me, and we did everything together, from shopping to male-gazing, and I trusted her with everything I had. Then she dared to show that she's nothing but a snake with a pretty face. Then Kentorr, then the truth. You know the rest of what happened, and you know how alone I was, and how we hated each other after that. I've not spoken with her in eight years, but I know her heart still, and although I'm trying to warn Ben, he won't believe me. But I swear by the Force, either she is up to something again or something is not right." The older Horn sighed as he saved the recording. His sister was, if anything, never much of a fortune teller, but something might be of concern, considering how often the girl communicated with either Ben or Jysella. 	YK: yup, there's some hints as to the past Princess Thanks Note: I'm not sure as to where I'll develop this, but be warned that I might attempt to push some girl/girl bond as far as I can if the fic goes that way. --- Less thought, more fun, just as the honeymoon was supposed to be, Jysella decided as she batted away another memory of those times that she had spent in the company of Allana and their girlfriends. Most of those times were enjoyable, and yet too restrained. Here, she, the sloppy bantha of the pack of Hapan puppies, was free. "You'll seriously come to Hapes?" asked the incredulous Skywalker. "Of course. She's your cousin and my good friend. With all that work she's gotta do, we need to give her a break," the wife broke out a mischevous but forced grin. "Jys..." Ben started, but before he could express his disbelief in his wife's words, he found himself freed of his datapad. "What are up to?" "Training session just before we start. Get it back if you can." Ben reached his hand past her shoulder and grabbed at her, but found his fingers holding her wrist instead of the prized possession and groaned slightly as she twisted his arm. "Damn pickpocket." "You really would have your pocket picked if I were..." Jysella never got to finish as the comm came to life. "Unidentified vessel, you are encroaching on Hapan space." This is definitely not what the Force told me," Jysella's wistful mutter was inaudible to all but Ben, who threw her a sidelong glance. "She is in no position to hold appointments. Leave, Jedi," replied the border patrolswoman who stopped the ship originally. "Let's go then," grinned the relieved Jysella, who stated many times earlier in no unclear terms her dislike of Hapes Prime. "It's a madhouse down there." "She seems to enjoy it." "But that's her, and you didn't marry her." Ben chuckled, "True, and I don't like it here, either. Let's go." 	Ben let out a relieved sigh as he and Jysella punched in the codes for Gallinore. What a close brush with Allana and her political schemes! Just as the hyperspace engine heated sufficiently, however, a crackling sound from the comm cut the moment short. "Masters Skywalker, please wait," a different female voice spoke over the comm. That's Master Skywalker and Director Horn to you. Jysella was tempted to correct the Hapan officer, but bit her lip. You married me and you've been an active Jedi since a week before we married. Ben reminded silently as he slowed the ship to a hover. "Our Queen and I apologize for my counterpart's manners. You are first-class guests and will be treated as such until further notice." "What's your point?" asked Ben. "You are to be brought immediately before her Majesty." "What's the hurry?" This time, it was his wife that spoke up. She bit her lip even harder than before. If she still knew anything else about Allana, it was that the girl followed a strict schedule, never seeking to yank someone before her unless they had an appointment at a specific time and that personhappened to be late. "Her Unrivaled Grandeur has ordered, and you will come. Much has happened, and much more can be explained once you land. If possible, the Queen Mother will relate the recent happenings to you herself," replied the heavily accented female voice. -- As the Palace gates came into view, the Jedi couple could immediately sense that something was out of place. It was as if the visually vivid center of Hapan life was completely devoid of all signs of habitation, as if it just had an influx of ghosts and lacked all color in the Force. As they were led into through the throne room, it took all of Jysella's carefully schooled control to keep her jaw from dropping in shock. However, within a millisecond, she regained total control over her bewilderment and carefully surveyed the scene as they were about to be led out. Alas, these poor bodyguards, especially Allana's youngest second cousin, she knew them all well. But the problem was not the events that led to this massive tragedy, but the condition of Allana, who was usually never missing from her throne room during the day. Yes, Allana's fate. A muffled voice gave an unintelligible answer before the woman shrieked again, "She is unfit to rule, I tell you. I'm next in line. As long as she's in that med ward, I command all of Hapes, you hear me?" "Who the kriff is that?" Ben whispered. "I think it's one of Lady Chidra's daughters," Jysella replied with a sigh as they followed their escort throughout the palace. "As in..." Ben began, but his voice trailed off as he realized whom his wife was referring to. In turn, she nodded. "We're here," the escort, a tall, broad shouldered blonde, stopped before a closed door, which opened to reveal a plethora of life-support machines surrounding a either sleeping or uncounscious Allana. Her breathing was quiet but labored and the serene glow that her white sheets gave her belied an endless battle on the part of the medics. "Where were you... friend Jysella?" Allana awakened from her sleep, which was more likely a Force trance, and asked weakly as she channeled her remaining energy into grinning. "She's been trying to borrow your assistance in rooting out the treachery since she foresaw the shot that took Dalnar. Where were you, Jedi?" The man that escorted them gave the Corellian a piercing look as he hissed the question in Hapan. "My department and I were on a longterm undercover mission for CorSec that ended around a month ago. I've not had a known, fixed address in a very long time." "Never... mind that now," Allana's voice was quiet and raspy as she struggled to speak. "Come, cousin. There... is... work." And with that, she collapsed back into her pillow, as if she had never awakened at all. "ALLANA!" Ben shouted, but the medic merely shook her head grimly. "She's been fading out more and more since the last attack. She only suffered the most minor wounds, yet she's been fading more and more despite being physically fine," explained the doctor. -- I can't believe this, Valin. The treachery comes full circle when the betrayer is betrayed. That Allana deserves what she got: nearly killed. She's been out of it for twelve hours since the last time she woke up and she dares to ask us to... The Jedi Master put the datapad down as a series of rowdy knocks landed on the door of his Ossuan apartment. It did not do well to show his two younger kids what appeared to be an angry rant from Jysella. Interesting now that he was completely used to thinking of Kee as one of his own kids.
