	"Who the kriff is that?" Ben whispered. "I think it's one of Lady Chidra's daughters," Jysella replied with a sigh as they followed their escort throughout the palace. "As in..." Ben began, but his voice trailed off as he realized whom his wife was referring to. In turn, she nodded. As in who? which opened to reveal a plethora of life-support machines surrounding a either sleeping or uncounscious Allana. Her breathing was quiet but labored and the serene glow that her white sheets gave her belied an endless battle on the part of the medics. Wow, she must be in really bad shape I like that Allana has adopted Tenel Ka's "Friend" speech. "She's been fading out more and more since the last attack. She only suffered the most minor wounds, yet she's been fading more and more despite being physically fine," explained the doctor. Maybe she's been poisoned or something? Those Hapans are treacherous, you never know what they're up to. Hopefully Allana hasn't "lost the will to live" I can't believe this, Valin. The treachery comes full circle when the betrayer is betrayed. That Allana deserves what she got: nearly killed. She's been out of it for twelve hours since the last time she woke up and she dares to ask us to... The Jedi Master put the datapad down as a series of rowdy knocks landed on the door of his Ossuan apartment. It did not do well to show his two younger kids what appeared to be an angry rant from Jysella. Interesting now that he was completely used to thinking of Kee as one of his own kids. How long had it been since Jys enrolled the boy in the Jedi Academy and since he started treating the kid like a second son? Who is this? I'm surprised to see Jysella saying that Allana got what she deserved What has Allana done that we don't know about? So many questions. 	YK: Only Jys knows what Allana's done that we don't lol As for what's draining her health, we don't know, do we? -- When Ben switched on his notepad, he was quite surprised to find several new files on it, with all but two detailing items and information surrounding the slaughter scene in the throne room. Amazing that she learned the art of thievery so well in her years with CorSec that she could steal from a Jedi without being noticed. He opened the first file, an inventory of items found within a ten-meter radius of the throne. A syringe? Kriff, I'm seeing things. Ben decided to flip to the next file, where he found a few observations of Allana. When the labor started a day ago, the girl spoke rather softly to what she believed was her lost consort. If he was truly there, the spirit must have appeared only to her. "I had to carry her to term. You know she'd have died if I didn't!" ... "My daughter and heir's getting everything, and no less than everything! ... "Shove it. Of course she's a girl!" Just as Ben finished reading through the things that Allana said, Jysella raised her head from the covers of their bed in the guest room for what he called the hourly scan. He wondered that if she, like him, had never truly slept since being knighted. Amazing how she slept like an angel, and yet remained alert as ever at all hours. -- Ben counted at least two hours since the baby emerged. Two hours where the far more experienced Jysella had to assist in the investigations. Two hours during which Allana had not been awake. Two hours during which he vividly remembered the accidents years ago that left Jaina and Tenel Ka dead. "Ben?" Allana murmured at long last. "Lemme see my daughter." "The Force blessed you..." he began. "My little girl..." "Lan, the Force blessed you... with a son." "WHAT?" She moaned. If she had the energy, she would have screamed at the top of her lungs, but her labor drained her. A daughter would have been raised to rule, with her very presence adding to her mother's authority. A daughter could be raised as a witch, to continue their line. A boy. A boy was but a disgrace to her love's abilities. All that effort, which etched the permanent injuries that continually drained her life away, just for a boy. "I should've miscarried him when he was dying. Kriff it. Get me some Argol. I want to see Dalnar." When her cousin refused to move, she reached out and found the bottle of yellow liquid with the Force before grabbing it greedily. Ben's mouth moved and words formed, but they never landed on her ears as she chugged down the liquid and rode on its resulting wave of bliss. Yes, her friend, that bottle, the only thing that she could trust on the entire planet since her consort left. Dalnar was standing beside her, with a wide and brilliant halo around his already dazzling figure. As she took the hand that he offered, she grinned and pulled herself up with surprising ease. She looked down at herself and realized that she was no longer wearing the simplistic, comfortable gown, but one of her usual dresses. That trusted Argol was finally doing more than just exchanging pain for bliss. 	It was one thing to never sleep, for those eight hours were always more productive when spent in a Force trance. It was another to leave the bed every other hour to tend to wailing newborns. Because of the law that decreed for children to be given to the closest adult blood relatives of the mother and for the heir's female caretaker to function as regent until the eldest daughter's sixteenth birthday, Ben found himself alone with the terrifying twins for most of the day. Jysella even admitted that one child was much easier in the few moments when she had the energy. If only Allana had waited for the reluctant princess to emerge, but then what? The technique used to preserve the kids after the nearly fatal injuries that they sustained during one of the attempts on the queen was one that transferred the remaining lifespan of the mother to the children, according to Jysella. If that was true, then he would have been landed with the children in a few months time even if she survived the first day. With the drugs and the effort used to shield these children from the chemicals, it was a surprise that she even survived this long. The next cry came from the boy. Change, feed, Force-trick. Change, feed, Force-trick. Change, feed, Force-trick. Change, feed, Force-trick. That was the drill. A very continuous drill, for the pair decided to take turns with their caretaker's time. She lifted her eyelid to welcome a world that refused to focus. Silk sheets, spacious room, another one off to the side, vague memories of some familiar faces and Force-knows how much of that divine drink that this... oh, where was she from again.. provided. Blood-colored sheets, spacious room whose large windows provided a flawless view that spanned from the seven full moons above to the smooth, sandy beach below, a rancor tooth with a shell necklace wrapped around it sitting with a row of other trophies, oh Force! She felt around and shrieked when her hands landed on human skin. "Djo! AlGray! What the Sithing kriff am I doing in bed with you two?" she screamed. "Hun, I thought you were gonna tell me to feed the kids." She glanced down at herself and was about to scream again when she realized that she was completely nude, only to find another set of lips brushing against hers. She caught a glance at a head full of flame-colored hair, but was certain that this was neither Allana nor the kiss that was sent to silence the older Jedi woman. It was a gentle kiss whose touch brought with it a soothing wave from the Force. She knew that she was not supposed to kissed at this point only because there was one coming later? And that she was certain that she still had her underwear when she woke up in the queen's bed? She took a deep breath and sighed, giving her vision and head a few more seconds to clear. Those flashes were just something associated with the accursed bed that she was forced into along with a massive crown. Headache's from the kids' constant, unscheduled crying, nothing more. Check. Force, she, the supposedly loving aunt, felt like killing them for a fleeting moment, just like she did with her son. "Jys, you're scaring me," the bedmate spoke again. No drinks this time. Check. Husband. Check. No additional bedmates. Check. "Force, what's happened to that hard bunker that I always had? Or the sleeping bags, for that matter?" she asked, keeping her voice down to a low whisper. "What's going on?" She wondered as to how much, if any, of the story he should know. The full story of the party and what she knew of its aftermath gushed along her fibers to the tip of her tongue until she remembered how they actually had an enjoyable, uninterrupted night for once. "Hold that look. Gotta get a holo soon as I feed the kids." "No," he pinned her arm to the bed with his rather strong grip. "You need to rest up for tomorrow's lessons on their 'queen walk'." 	YK: yup, knowing what's real is a perk of being Jedi. -- The gardens were initially quiet as Jysella tried to balance herself on those impossibly narrow heels. She's had to use several disguises before for work, but never one involving shoes as accursed as these! Allana must have either enjoyed these lessons or never needed them at all. The true question was, how could the same Master choose two students as different as her and Allana? She had only five minutes to wonder as her foot skipped over the slippery surface of one of the decorative rocks and her head plunged into what she believed was a reflecting pool. Next thing she knew, she was walking through the gardens, the gardens as she remembered it. There was something about an insult to her son that angered her deeply. She squinted, both to blink the water off the eyelashes and to determine what the memory was. A clicking sound interrupted her thoughts. Then two. Then five. Then a massive multitude. She opened her eyes to see a gargantuan wall of holocams surrounding her, Ben, the kids, and the trainers. "I thought I got rid of them eight years ago." "What's so special? If they want holos of me, they can have them!" Ben asked, uncertain as to the panic that he was reading from his wife and the Hapans. 	I suppose the best excuse for my lackluster updates in August is a combo of Runescape, vacation, and the Olympics. Well, I'm off Runescape again and probably won't touch it til someone prompts me. I don't normally enjoy watching sports, but when I can keep track of who's who without much effort, it's totally addicting. I wish they'd show more trackable sports like swimming, gymnastics, and martial arts on TV. --- The queen waited as her advisors appeared one by one for their conference on the race for the highest office in the galaxy. The throne stood at an imposing height of two average chairs. Its entire area glistened from the elixir of platinum, gold, and Gallinorean gems whose value would have been able to sustain a hundred average families for months. The finest silks coated the plush cushions and back, showing the viewer a million-credit piece of artwork from a seamstress and artist who lived at least a thousand years ago. It sat in the of the back wall of the conference room, sandwiched comfortably between the said wall and the elliptical table. It was the perfect highchair for its occupant, two-week-old Krisare. "Let me take her back..." The regent, who stood nearly a head shorter than the armrest, began. The advisor closest to her shook her head. "Remember the rules, leader." Jysella augmented her characteristic calm with the Force in order to suppress an emerging groan. "Alright. In lieu of the unequaled Queen Krisare and according to the wishes of the late, illustrious, elegant, and wise Queen Mother Allana, I offer to return the Queen and the prince to the arms of my consort." "Correct meaning, wrong words," the Hapan woman was quick to criticize. "Request impossible. The Queen Mother and her brother cannot be removed from a first-class meeting." The Hapans all around the table gasped. Jysella opened her mouth to protest, but backed down upon recieving a warning gaze from the woman beside her, the one who had been attempting to teach the Corellian the art of high politics. 	BAM! The punching bag swung away from Jysella's fist as she stood there panting. WHAM! It went flying again. "Be careful, my queen. This artifact dates back to the reign of Queen Mother Tenel Ka. You want it to be intact when the queen comes of age," warned the male servant standing at the door. Jysella, who seemed oblivious to the man's presence, started again, only to have her arm stopped in midswing. For what seemed like an eternity, it just hovered there in Ben's grasp. "Jys, what is it?" asked her husband. "Your cute little cousin tried to take over the galaxy. I don't know if it's from her dad or her grandmother."
