</Kick Note happy > First I'd like to thank everyone for being patient and still being here. peace The next couple of chapters will be fun stuff before we make a multi year jump and get into the political wrangling. sad Woot! Of course we waited. This story is worth it dear.

Jag get's a little 'bossy' raised_brow in this chapter...like some other guy named Fel that we all know and love. whistling *coughs* Roan. mischief Ooooo. Bossy Jag. Nummy!

In the end Moff Fel had been unable to dodge Chief of State Daala and had ended up dancing with her while his father whisked Jaina across the floor. However, after one dance he had had enough of her attempts to put her hands down his pants and rather rudely excused himself, making his way to the alcohol inclined table. There Jedi Master Kyp Durron stood surveying the crowd. His dark blue robes were neatly pressed and accented his green eyes and graying dark hair. PMSL! OMG!

Jag walked up and filled a glass downed it and then another. He was well on his way to topping off the third glass when Durron spoke. "To be molested at one’s own engagement party that must be rough." I don't have an acronym for this. Damn. Funny.

"Not on my off day."

Fel snorted. "I didn't know the devil had an off day."

"I didn't know that Durasteel could grow.......personality." Ouch. Good thing they like each other!

The Jedi Masters eyes didn't leave the crowd but Jag had been around Jedi long enough to know that they were fixed on things unseen, perhaps things that hadn't even happened yet. "You know Jag what your asking of me is borderline unethical for a Jedi Master."

Fel slammed his glass on the table causing a few heads to turn but his voice remained even. "Excuse me, I thought I was talking to Kyp Durron not Luke Skywalker." Pffft!

"I always do," Fel said flatly and then continued. "But you know Durron I am curious to know what your obsession with Hapes is these days." whistling

Moff Fel continued to survey the Jedi Master, his mind doing calculated mental gymnastics as to figure out what Durron's motives could possibly be. Then he remembered little things over the last several weeks between Kyp and the Queen Mother... just comments or looks that most people would miss as had he until it had all been put into context...Jag's eyes widened and he spluttered out, "No way." Once again he slammed his drink on the table. "You're determined to kill me, aren't you Durron?"

Kyp snorted and rolled his eyes taking another drink. "Oh yeah Fel, you were what was on my mind when it started. That’s a little narcissistic don't you think?" PMSL!

"Kriff me," was all Jag could manager as he finished his third round.

"Now Moff Fel, you are definitely not my type. And I believe your mother has promised me a dance as to fulfill my adolescent fantasies...at least some of them. And then Mirax of course, because I wouldn't want Corran to think he's the only man she notices." Oh my God...I don't think I stopped laughing during this whole conversation.

Jag with Valin...brilliant. Loved it! Man I love this story! Kriffing Awesome my dear!

THE_PIED_PIPER posted:
"Your mother did a wonderful job Jaina, this is lovely." Jag said as he continued to twirl her around the dance floor. It was the same room they had first danced in fourteen years earlier, in the days following the aftermath of the Myrkr mission.

Later that night they had attended Anakin Solo's funeral.

And now here they were so many years later, once again dancing in this beautiful room in the aftermath of the death of Jaina's second brother. But she had wanted to have the engagement party here on Hapes while friends and family were still somewhat together.

This is one of those bittersweet things...But appropriate, considering all they've been through. I'm glad they're still able to have celebrations in the midst of all the heartache.

THE_PIED_PIPER posted:
They had decided against having a wedding and would hold a small ceremony on Coruscant at the Jedi Temple in a few weeks.

That had been Jaina's decision and she had been adamant about it. Jag knew how women were about their wedding day and had been more than willing to have one, but Jaina had no interest in an elaborate formality.

Sounds like her...and very understandable.

THE_PIED_PIPER posted:
At first it had troubled him as he once again worried about her motives for marrying him. He wondered if she believed that she simply had to marry him because of the miscarriage or if she was just depressed about everything that had transpired in recent weeks, needing the emotional strength that he had always provided her with.

And then there was the whole Zekk issue and he had needed to know that had been resolved once and for all in her heart. He had needed to know that their marriage would be built on a strong foundation and that they would not only stay together but would be happy. Jag wouldn't have a marriage of convenience and he certainly didn't want to end up divorced.

I hate that he even has to think about this kind of stuff...He shouldn't even have to worry about Jaina's love for him!

THE_PIED_PIPER posted:
They had talked for hours in bed, through the early morning hours, as they lay together exhausted and entwined in the sheets. Jaina had assured him that her motives were pure: she was in love with him. She had just had a lot of her own problems to work through in the last decade. And that everything had worked out the way it did for a reason and that she had never loved anyone but him.

She had more than her own problems to deal with...

THE_PIED_PIPER posted:
Jag had run his fingers through her hair in their moonlit room as he listened to her and actually smiled at the fact that it was Jaina being the practical one for once.

Such a gorgeous line! And I love the role-reversal. Ironic...

Kick posted:
Jaina was different now, Jagged knew. Since her final confrontation with Darth Caedus and his death there was a new way about her. It was as if a part of her died with her twin,

Part of her DID die...not only did her twin die, she killed him...and he had become a monster before that...I'd be worried if she wasn't changed!

Kick posted:
The nightmares had started a few weeks earlier. There had been several times he had been awoken in the middle of the night by her crying and screaming. Sometimes she was incoherent...sometimes it was worse than that.

Clighal had given him a natural sedative to inject her with when she was in one of these states that would relax her and allow her to sleep again. However, she hated using it and would often try Force techniques to overcome the dreams, but more times than not she ended up taking an injection. Jag only hoped that Luke was right and the anguish would ease in time.

sad At least she's not having to go through it alone...

Kick posted:
But there was also a new sense of peace about her, a determination to move forward with their life together and overall she looked much happier and more at peace with her life than she had since Jag had first known her.
grin Thats a nice contrast! I guess she finally got the whole "sword" thing balanced out... tongue took her long enough

Kick posted:
She laughed, "You know I'm not really into flashy, Grand Moff Fel, but I guess it will do."

"Well," he said as he put his mouth to her ear slightly pulling her hair back, "I guess I'll have to continue to make it up to you." The song ended and he said, "May I have another?"

LOL laugh awesome

Kick posted:
Before Jaina could reply the older version of Jags voice spoke behind her, "Don't be a glutton, Jagged. I think I'll have the next one."

I loved this line for some reason... laugh

Kick posted:
Moff Fel bowed and released Jaina's hand into his father's and walked towards the concession table trying to avoid the gaze of Chief of State Daala.

laugh

Kick posted:
"You make that look so easy, just dismissing him like that," Jaina smiled up at Baron Fel and for not the first time thought of what her husband would look like in thirty something years.

love Thats such a cute thing for her to think...

Kick posted:
"Trust me Jaina, Jagged is never really dismissed. He only bides his time," he paused. "You of all people should know that. And that is why he will someday be much greater than I."

Bam! There it is! so true...one of the many things we admire about him.

Kick posted:
"I don't know about that," she said and added with a smirk, "and you can call me Great One, most people do."

laugh

Kick posted:
"So I understand," he grinned down at her and thought just how much he liked this woman. Han Solo's daughter or no, he deemed her perfect in every way and was well worth the turmoil she had caused his family and his son through the years.

I love how its kinda like, "in spite of her being a Solo" or "at least she wont be a Solo for long" *snicker*
But very sweet POV, I love it!

Kick posted:
Besides the beach fiasco the instance that most often stood out in Soontir's mind was when he had informed Jag that Coruscant had fallen during the Yuuzhan Vong war. The young man hadn't even registered that fact, he had only wanted to be assured that Jaina hadn't been the Solo child that died on the Myrkr mission. Baron Fel knew what this young couple were capable of accomplishing together. They would be a brilliant couple; beautiful, intelligent and powerful. And he would go to any lengths to keep her happy.
love

Kick posted:
Baron Fel then decided to see just what the girl was made of and asked, "Have you reconsidered the conclusion of our last negotiations?"

Always testing others...You better be satisfied, they're about to get married! lol

Kick posted:
"No I have not Soontir my decision is final. No wedding. You must understand Jag and I need to do this in a way that will have meaning and maintain our privacy. A big production would just turn into a media smash ball game and commentary for holo-reporters who have no life. They will rip the way I wear my hair, the way my dress looks and the color of the rose petals for Force sakes. It's a reality of my family Soontir. I remember my uncle's wedding."

rolling_eyes They never seem to get away from trouble, those Skywalker/Solo/Fels...do they?
But I really agree with Jaina...she needs her wedding not to be a public spectacle, a symbol like her uncle's entire life has been...she needs her joy to be her own. And she deserves it!

Kick posted:
"I understand," he said but he wasn't quite ready to surrender on all fronts. "Well Great One how about a little question and answer session tomorrow with the holo-media before we leave for Coruscant?"

"Absolutely not," she said her annoyance beginning to show in her voice. "If the questions would be about Jag and I that would be fine, but they won't be. They'll be about Anakin’s death, Mara's death, and how does it feel to have helped killed my twin and why do I think he turned into our grandfather; and you know it Soontir. I will not discuss these matters in public because they are no one’s business, and I won't have my dead relatives’ drug through the mud. The answer is no, and I mean it."

She can be quite stubborn can't she? *smirk*

Kick posted:
"Well, I don't think I've done very well in these negotiations at all," he said, sounding much more disappointed than he actually was. But he did let the look of disappointment linger on his face after a heavy sigh.

Jaina raised her chin in the same defiance that her mother was famous for and glared at him for a moment as they continued their flawless movements across the elegantly lit dance floor, "Don't think that I don't know that you're trying to make me feel bad Baron Fel...I am a Jedi after all."

laugh The Baron resorting to child's play! Priceless!!

Kick posted:
He grinned Jags grin at her and her heart melted and her resolve soften. "Counter offer Baron Fel?"

"I'm listening Great One."

...Jag's grin...

Kick posted:
She smiled at that. "My mother will release a formal engagement statement for Jag and I and will answer pre-arranged questions relating to the two of us only. And then Jag and I will sit for a private photo-op," she paused and then continued, "You can release all of those images that you want to...paint them on billboards for all I care, until your heart is content." She winked at him, "I think that is a pretty good compromise don't you?"

A great compromise I'd say. And as a side note, it appears she will be able to hold her own in the political arena wink ...

Kick posted:
Jaina snorted, "Am I that much of a political asset to you Soontir? I mean Lord Vader’s Imperial bloodline and all."

"Lets just say I want you to be very happy."

"Your son makes me happy so I'm good to go."

Soontir nodded, "Awe, we have a lot in common then."

She laughed, "Really? I always suspected that you and Syal would have wanted him to give me a one way ticket out of his life?"

"Why would you think such a thing?"

"I don't know Baron, maybe the whole 'bug' fiasco and the agony and embarrassment that it must have caused you?"

Soontir laughed at that. "We all have moments of trial Jaina. I'm aware of what the situation was, and while my opinion is that you could have handled things much better I assure you there is no hard feelings from either my wife or I."

very nice interaction. Resolving last minute issues without destroying the jubilant atmosphere.

Kick posted:
The dance ended and he looked her square in the eye, "The Fels are winners Lady Solo and we marry winners. And you...you're a winner."

love Beautiful line, and about as sweet as we can expect from Soontir, lol. That was very touching. His final approval, I guess

Kick posted:
Before Jaina could reply, her father walked up behind Soontir. "Hey, it's my turn Baron. Move it."

Not as graceful as the Baron, is he? lol

Kick posted:
In the end Moff Fel had been unable to dodge Chief of State Daala and had ended up dancing with her while his father whisked Jaina across the floor. However, after one dance he had had enough of her attempts to put her hands down his pants and rather rudely excused himself, making his way to the alcohol inclined table.

*scrunches up nose* That's really kinda disgusting. How old is she?!

Kick posted:
A moment later Valin emerged from the same side door that Jag and Jaina had once snuck out of and joined Jag at the table pouring his own drink. Luke Skywalker had indefinitely assigned Valin to Jag both as a Jedi protector and a 'personal assistant' of sorts.

Luke had been glad to do it, since he's the one who had volunteered Fel for his new life in the first place. Also Skywalker probably knew just how useless Horn would be to the Jedi order if Wynssa went back to Bastion and he wasn't allowed to go. So he had just made it easy on everyone and assigned Valin to Jag for as long as needed.

That is an awesome idea! I love Valin as Jag's assistant!

Kick posted:
Fel had grown quite fond of the young man in recent weeks. Horn was smart and fearless like his father, possessed a great sense of humor and was a fantastic pilot. And even though his maternal grandfather Booster Terrik was notoriously giving and indulging to his grandchildren, somehow Valin Horn was completely unspoiled and well adjusted. And Jag had very little doubt that he would one day in the not so distant future be his brother-in-law.

Seems like he and Fel would get along. *smirk* at that last sentence...

Kick posted:
"Nonsense," Fel quickly countered. "Valin you have approximately three dances to produce my sister in this room, do you understand me?"

"But, Jag.."

"Knight Horn you do want to make twenty-nine years old, don't you?

LOL! laugh This is great! I love protective-older-brother Jag

Kick posted:
She wrapped her arms around Jag's waste and said, "I guess Daala's company kept you from missing me too much." He gave her a dirty look and turned around just as Ben Skywalker walked up beside them, "Nice party Jaina, would you like to dance?"

She's pretty popular with the men folk tonight, isn't she? Poor Jag wink

Kick posted:
"Of course, my very handsome cousin." She took Ben's offered arm and smiled at Jag as she handed him the empty glass back. "And then another with you...unless Daala objects of course."

He said nothing just looked annoyed.

Oooh, she can be cruel! lol

Chapter 3

I almost cried when Jaina woke up to discover she lost the baby...I think Jag acted like any man would have in his position. It was realistic and you wrote the raw emotion so well....I'm jealous.. tongue

The Han scene was just awesome and so true to Han's character. I'm, of course, reading this after having read LotF9, but in away I think Han acted simiarily in it. Sure he threatened the Moffs, but in the end he new Jag was the perfect choice. I give you kuddles for writing this before that book came out. applause

Chapter 4

I loved Leia's thoughts...

But the last part of the scene was just perfect.... I loved the interaction between Kyp, Kyle and Corran...Too funny.... laugh

And is there budding feelings between Ben and Jys...emmm...? thinking ........( praying that there is)

But the part that I loved....New ship alert!!!! love Valin/Wyn...now I really like that idea. I really hope that, if the IKs are introduced soon in the timeline, Valin is among them... but then I'm just partial to that idea because I made him the founder in one of my stories. wink

I'm off to read more of this totally awesome story, Kick..... hugs

*nods* Story time it's been nine or ten weeks since the Death of Darth Caedus, so I thought that long enough period of time for them to have an engagement party.

Jedimaster_JainaSolo posted:
[quote=THE_PIED_PIPER] They had decided against having a wedding and would hold a small ceremony on Coruscant at the Jedi Temple in a few weeks.

That had been Jaina's decision and she had been adamant about it. Jag knew how women were about their wedding day and had been more than willing to have one, but Jaina had no interest in an elaborate formality.

Sounds like her...and very understandable.

[quote=THE_PIED_PIPER]At first it had troubled him as he once again worried about her motives for marrying him.

*nods* Agreed. I think Jag is just ver cautious and he knows what she's been through.

Jedimaster_JainaSolo posted:
[quote=THE_PIED_PIPER]They had talked for hours in bed, through the early morning hours, as they lay together exhausted and entwined in the sheets. And that everything had worked out the way it did for a reason and that she had never loved anyone but him.

She had more than her own problems to deal with...

[quote=Kick]Jaina was different now, Jagged knew. Since her final confrontation with Darth Caedus and his death there was a new way about her. It was as if a part of her died with her twin,

Absolutely. peace Agreed on all fronts.

[quote=Kick]The nightmares had started a few weeks earlier.
