Ok, Rigil_Kent...the jig is up. Fess up, you are a clone of Timothy Zahn and you are writing this sweet epic!
Exhibit A :
The use of the phrase, "Point."
Exhibit B:
The fact that you are using the idea of an Obi Wan clone that LucasFilm did not want the original Zahn to use.
This is how professional and intriguing this epic is. For me anyway. I can't speak for others, but I'm sure most would agree.
Han as an admiral will be very interesting.
RIP Mazzic.  You died a hero!
And Jedi clones....perhaps made by droids? It could happen. Can we say General Grievous? Do I foresee an Anakin Skywalker clone in the future?
To top it all off, the greatest EU character, if not the best SW character, Mara Jade swoops in for the rescue.

Nah. I can't stand "Dark Empire" mostly because (and this is just my opinion which is worth the digital paper its printed on) Luke's inexplicable and utterly unexplained fall to the Dark Side made no sense to me, not to mention Palpatine's continual resurrections seemed to render Anakin/Vader's sacrifice at Endor moot. I understand that some people actually like it, but I hated it. A lot. I may use the occasional name here or there from it, but otherwise it's right out the window.

Yeah ... I came pretty close to retconning C'baoth into Kenobi like he should have been from the getgo (I still don't understand why LFM vetoed that one), but decided against it ultimately.

Can I tell you a secret? I hated watching Yoda bounce around like that in EpII & III. Seriously hated. If I was in charge, the Yoda/Dooku battle would have been utterly different. Imagine, if you will, Yoda slowly limping toward Dooku/Tyrannus, casually batting away everything the Sith Lord throws at him. Lightning, hurled debris, rocks, etc. Yoda keeps moving at a steady, unhurried pace and Dooku's fear grows with each step the little green guy takes. Dooku begins to wince each time Yoda's walking stick hits the ground. Click. Click. Click. Realizing that Yoda is going to crush him like an overripe grape, Tyrannus responds by squishing the doo-hickey over Anakin & Kenobi, then runs like a female dog while Yoda prevents it from falling on the two wayward heroes.
But the bouncing stuff? Blech. I hated it nearly as much as I hated Palpatine's fighting sequences.

Bwa ha ha ha ha! I was wondering if anyone was gonna catch that and call me on it. I recall noting how often Zahn used the line when I reread TTT a couple of months ago; it was almost distracting once I noted it.
But alas, the only thing I have in common with Mr. Zahn are my glasses and the goatee. And perhaps similar outlooks on how Star Wars should be...

Unfortunately, I'm probably going to be unable to update Tyranny Reborn as quickly as I'd like since I've got a fairly annoying term paper to write (along with several books on European history post-WWI to 1945) that's due in about 5 or 6 weeks. I will endeavor to get that paper written at first opportunity and will plug away with TR as much as possible. Major thanks to all who have given me such positive feedback ...

Well, the outlook is enough for me! 
Another awesome chapter! I really like how you're integrating known characters into your AU even though they were introduced in different pro books. And the Jedi Master clone surprise was very nice indeed.
I eagerly await the next chapter.

To my surprise, I finished chapter 4 around oh-dark-thirty this morning and sent it off to my betas. Given that I've been trying to focus on reading Hugh Thomas' The Spanish Civil War for the 8-week 4000-level class I'm taking, the fact that I worked on this at all was a surprise but ... well ...
So I haven't forgotten about this or you wonderful fans.

P.S. Is anyone else a little disturbed by the half naked Cade at the top of the screen? Not because he's half naked necessarily... but because the entire banner is taken up by it. (And of course, there's no Luke and Mara which somewhat depresses me.)

I think I'm going to have to start stalking you now. Not in a scary way, just in a "I need updates NOW even though I just read these three chapters in one sitting" sort of way. 
Your Han is just perfect, and an Admiral! Well, now. I love Leia's.... concern over Luke (and Mara). And your Mara is just tops. But that last scene in chapter 3 with L/M... be still my heart. Oh, and there was Karrde!! You're really packing everything I just dearly love in this fic! Have I mentioned I can't wait for more?

Just a tiny bit. I don't read those comics (sorry, but that entire era doesn't interest me in the slightest especially since it seems to imply that, despite all the heartache and loss the Heroes of the movies (and Mara!) went through, it was ultimately for nothing), and I really miss that awesome image of the lovely Mara that was up there before...

I understand your point about not reading those comics. I started reading them but haven't been able to keep up with them because I live in the NW corner of Washington and the nearest comic shop is 3-ish hours and a ferry ride away. I'm of the same opinion on the idea of the Sith taking over and the Jedi being all but extict AGAIN but it was pretty interesting at least (I've only read up to where Darth Krayt reveals his true identity). It has some interesting things to it, a few YV where actually allies of the Jedi and were guarding a hidden store of Jedi artifacts on Ossus after the massacre. I have to say the Imperial Knights are a cool concept and I'd love to find out how they came to be but there are some things about the story that don't jive with me. It might be worth you checking out at least if you haven't already.
If I had a comic shop nearby I'd still be reading them.
Side note: Some of the fighter/ship designs in that series are weird or just plain stupid. The Predator (new TIE series) is a ridiculous design, completely un-aerodynamic design for work in an atmosphere (imagine rotating a plane's wings vertical and trying to push a wall through the air) and the Crossfire fighter doesn't make sense (in combat mode there's a big vertical stabilizier right in the pilots line of sight). Anyway I'm done hijacking your thread.

I know you're working hard, so no whip cracking here. At the risk of you post chapter 4 before I get a chance comment on 3, here I go. Short, but short and sweet.
Leia and Han's story still has me leary. I'm not sure what to make of Han in uniform. And, Leia, manipulating her husband for political reasons. OH my! :-P
Mara continues to keep me reading like never before. You really have a gift for her charcterization. Keep it up.
Luke! Kicking but and taking names even when exhausted and injured? "That's IMPOSSIBLE!"
I can't tell you how please I am to see Luke in action, in charge, and CAPABLE. Previous chapters have shown us a moody Luke, but not a whiny and indecisive one. I look forward to seeing this Luke and this Mara in action together.

Okay, I think I just passed stalker and went into crazy fangirl mode. I think I just said this exact same line to Jade_Pilot not 10 hours ago... Of course, just my opinion as I know people who flove Cade and company (and may hurt me.... )!
