That was awesome. Perfect setup for the comics.
I'm just sad it's over.

You really crawled into Blue's head with this one. Totally believable lead-in to the Blue we know and love today in the comics.
Our mothers taught us young to respect ourselves and to own our sexuality. I liked to have fun as much as anyone, but it was on my terms. My choice.
Preach it, girlfriend. Blue has a very defined sense of self and beliefs, and she sticks to them.
I loved her initial meeting of Cade and Syn and the interaction between the three of them. The boys were adorkably clueless trying to repair the Mynock.
Great job, Trace!

I'm still really impressed with this one, Trace. I think you really captured Deliah's voice here - and Cade and Jariah, too, for all that we only see them briefly - and the OCs are fully convincing. You set the scenes well, the narrative flows smoothly, and the story itself sounds as though it could be Deliah's official backstory. Great job.

(I had to break replies into two posts because I ran out of smilies. )
diane: I gotta give credit to RebelGrrl for the idea about Blue's name over in the Legacy discussion thread in FFR. Deliah is one of the few Zeltrons who has a surname and it was her theory that it was, perhaps, just a nickname or bestowed on her by Cade.
I also loved that she liked them BOTH in the beginning.
How could a girl not like the Dreads of Hotness? Syn is quite flirty in the books and it wouldn't surprise me if she'd actually caught his eye first.
Thank you for reading!
Jade_Pilot: Thank you!!
That's our girl, always looking to make things right!
Not a bad aspiration, really. The galaxy could use more people who want to help each other. I'm glad you enjoyed it, gal!
karebear: Makes me view Deliah's relationship with Cade in a whole new way.
Really? Whew!! I was kinda hoping for that effect. There's got to be some reason why she's so hung up on him because, until recently, he didn't exactly reciprocate, y'know?
I really appreciate your comments. Thank you very much, chica!
Golden_Jedi: Thank you! I appreciate that.
VaderLVR: You're too kind, lady! Thank you! (Kiss the baby for me. )

divapilot: Oh, wow...
The person isn’t evil or weak, the addiction is too powerful to fight off, despite what the person wants to do.
That is actually one of the first things that I liked about Deliah - that she was compassionate even though Cade didn't necessarily deserve it. There's a panel in Broken where she tells Syn something to the effect of: "It's not Cade's fault. Something in him is broken," and the look on her face in that one scene really set the character for me.
You know I have this thorn in my side about the social acceptance of sex trades in the GFFA. I love how Deliah acknowledges it and rejects it.
Preach it, sister! In researching this, I read everything I could find about Zeltrons and while they are always portrayed as passionate and hedonistic, they are never victims nor do they make excuses for their sexuality. In that light, I couldn't see Deliah as being exploitable.
Something about her calling Cade and Syn “my boys.” It’s so maternal and nurturing. She’s like their den mother. And they need one, whether they admit it or not
LOL! Again, there's a scene in Broken where she's driving them in the speeder and glances back with an expression that, to me, looks just like: 'All right, guys. Not in the car!'
Trace, this story was an absolute gem! It has been a treat to read, and I hope you’ll write more. Please??
Awww.... You're making me blush. Many, many thanks for such a detailed and thoughtful reply!!
princess_of_naboo: Perfect setup for the comics. Gosh, such a compliment! Thank you!
TNPredsFan: Oooh, thank you very much, girlfriend! And, again, for the beautiful cover art!
I loved her initial meeting of Cade and Syn and the interaction between the three of them. The boys were adorkably clueless trying to repair the Mynock.
I'd love to get the real story some day, but that was awfully fun to play with. Thanks for R & R'ing, Nicki!
Gabri: Thank you TONS! I truly appreciate the assist, gal!

Like I told Nicki, I hope we get more back story from this timeframe, and I'm really flattered that you think it rings true with the books. I'm so glad we have these new toys in the proverbial Sandbox O' Lucas. Thanks for everything!
Again, thanks to everyone who stopped by to read or respond. Y'all are the bestest!
*raises glass* Cheers!

Trace, that was wonderful! I like how the story itself seems to take on aspects of Deliah's character- the humor, the "take no prisoners" attitude, the sadder, more serious side, all of it. Above all, she's a girl with scruples, even if you wouldn't know it to look at her and judge her, undeservedly so. No wonder Cade and Jariah were so quickly willing to offer her role the of mechanic on the crew. They're probably used to that kind of misjudgment.

Mediocrity- it takes a lot less time and most people won't notice the difference before it's too late. * OMG! SO RIDICULOUSLY AND AGGRAVATINGLY PERFECT!- Gabri * 11010110101000101011

I think there is definitely more to her than we've seen and I really hope her character is expanded beyond The Mechanic and The Girlfriend in the books.
Thank you so much, gal! I appreciate that.
