	This was my ownn small attempt at a response to the latest MMM, which contained a First Sentence Challenge, and I just felt like working with something a little different. Hope you enjoy it. ============================== Of all the people he had hoped to see walk through that door, she was the very last one he had imagined would come to his rescue. After all, Iella had made it perfectly clear to Wedge before he went in that if he got himself in trouble, she wasn’t going to save him this time. Force knew she’d done it often enough in the past, but he was bound and determined that this time was going to be different, that this time the problem was one he could deal with on his own. He really should have known better. He was in over his head, and there were no two ways about it. Despite how easy others had made it look in his briefings, the components he needed to assemble to complete his mission just wouldn’t fit together the way they were supposed to. To make matters worse the very air seemed to be growing more toxic, his stomach twisting at the stench in the air. He spared a glance at his wingman, laying in front of him and gazing at the roof with a sort of dreamy fascination, and Wedge gave her hand a gentle squeeze. “Hang in there, buddy. We’ll get you cleaned up and out of here good as new.” A soft gurgle was the only response he got, and he felt a fresh sense of despair. All the training he had done, all the missions he had served, none of it was doing him any good in his current environment. He could hear fresh voices from the room next door and the sound of approaching footsteps, and knew his luck had run out. Scrabbling through the supplies next to him until he found what he was looking for, he was bringing it to bear when he was betrayed by his own body. He let loose with an almighty sneeze and his hands convulsed around the container he was holding, causing a cloud of white powder to erupt from within and coat his face. He coughed and waved his hands desperately, trying to clear the air, and by the time he had done so the door to the room he was in had hissed open and a familiar form in white was standing in the doorway. He knew he was out of options, and there was only one thing he could do. He raised his hands in surrender as he shrugged and smiled weakly. "...help?..." Iella stood there shaking her head in disgust, a hand on her hip. "Unbelievable. You can fly through a black hole without scratching the paint on your ship and take over the most defended planet in the sector with a handful of pilots and four snubfighters, but ask you to change one dirty diaper..." “It isn’t exactly something they train you to deal with in the New Republic Armed Forces.” Wedge observed dryly, as his wife bumped him to one side and took over. Lifting Syal’s feet with one hand, she wiped away the mess and slid a clean cloth into position, deftly securing it with the ease only mothers can have. She slid a new pair of pants on her daughter and bent down over her, rubbing their noses together before lifting her off the table as Syal squealed with delight. “Silly daddy, not knowing how to change your bottom.” She looked at Wedge with a raised eyebrow. “I’ll leave you to clean up the mess. You could do with the practice.” “Yes dear.” He began moving around the room putting things away as Iella and Syal exited, and being distracted meant it took a few seconds for him to register what she said as she left. “Besides, you’ll need to know how to do it properly if we’re having another one.” <...wipes go on the middle shelf, powder next to them, dirty clothes go... another one...?> -----signature----- "It's not, 'Oh, they killed Anakin Solo and I always loved that character,' it's 'Oh, they broke a story engine that could have told a thousand stories in order to publish a single 'important' one.'"

	Oh...I loved this! Poor Wedge, of course, but changing baby diapers is really not so nice... And it's nice how you build the first sentence in the story. 	I rarely read Pilot fics - just because I know so little about them, and then I clicked on this one, and I was glad I did. That was just too cute for words. I can see the whole scene playing out in my mind. 	I was wondering why Iella said she wouldn't rescue him, given their friendship and all that, and was expecting Wedge to be trapped in a life-or-death situation. Now Wedgey: after all you've been through, diaper changing is proving to be such a problem? This reminded me of that dad in Daddy Daycare who was traumatized after he changed his son's diaper. You have such a talent to push me down a road, then YANK me to the ground, roll me down a hill and into the waters of an entirely different conclusion! I LOVED the beginning--so clever! 	Hey guys, glad to see everyone enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun writing this one. KELIA: Silly daddy, not knowing how to change your bottom... Or smart daddy doing what ever he could to get out of it! I'm just gonna stick with pleading the fifth on that one. Abeja: Oh...I loved this! Poor Wedge, of course, but changing baby diapers is really not so nice... Luckily I'm just an uncle, so I haven't had to worry about it so far. Mira_Jade: I rarely read Pilot fics - just because I know so little about them, and then I clicked on this one, and I was glad I did. That was just too cute for words.
