	Here's my response: a little J/J missing scene post-Invincible Timeframe: post-Invincible, 41 ABY Characters: Jaina, Jag Genre: romance, humor Summary: Jag brings Jaina to a hidden corner of Coruscant Notes: Written for the Disney Songfic Roulette; based on the song “A Whole New World” from Aladdin 41 ABY, two months after the defeat of Darth Caedus Former Imperial Gardens, Coruscant They soared above the lush grounds, lightly nudging each others’ swoops back and forth in an improvised dance. As they dodged between tall trees and rugged cliffs, acres of green and blue blossomed underfoot—a far cry from the grey durasteel of Coruscant center. I can show you the world Shining, shimmering, splendid Tell me, princess, now when did You last let your heart decide? Jaina smiled, threw her arms wide, and trusted her instincts to keep her from falling. As Jag turned around to stare at her, open-mouthed, he flew through a tangle of vines, emerging with leaves sticking out from his hair like dozens of additional ears. She laughed, shocking herself by the sound that came out of her lips. “What?” he demanded, finally breaking the silence. She shook her head at him. Spotting a pond below, she used the Force to nudge Jag off his swoop and into the water. Jag let out a yelp, soon followed by a big splash. She maneuvered her swoop next to where his had stopped on the beach. “Sithspit, Jaina!” he yelled once she came close enough. “What was that for?” I can open your eyes Take you wonder by wonder Over, sideways and under On a magic carpet ride Jaina stepped onto the beach and reached a hand out to help him from the water. “I couldn’t help it,” she said with a smirk. He took her hand, pulling himself onto the beach. “So I take it that you’re enjoying yourself?” Jaina smiled lazily and dropped down to the sand, pulling him down as well. She let go of his fingers, lying down underneath the warmth of the sun. After the briefest of hesitations, Jag followed suit and lay down beside her. “I am,” she finally drawled. “How did you find this place? I didn’t think that there was anywhere free from Vong influence.” “Neither did I,” Jag admitted. “But the last time I was home, my father mentioned this place, and I got curious.” As much as he tried to hide it, she caught the twinge in his voice and sat up abruptly. “Jag, I’m—” A whole new world A new fantastic point of view No one to tell us no Or where to go Or say we're only dreaming He cut her off by holding a finger against her lips. “Don’t,” he whispered, meeting her eyes without sitting up. She hesitated for a moment, and then allowed her body to drop back into the sand. He was only asking her to pretend for a few hours—to pretend that everything was fine, that both of their families hadn’t been torn apart by war. After all he had done, she could give him that, at least. A whole new world A dazzling place I never knew But when I'm way up here It's crystal clear That now I'm in a whole new world with you Now I'm in a whole new world with you But she was still Jaina Solo, and as impatient as ever. Less than ten minutes later, she sat up again. “You’re the head of the Moffs now,” she pressed, despite his growing discomfort. “The Chiss can’t possibly keep you away.” With an irritated sigh, he sat up as well. “The Chiss will not back down on their decree,” he said firmly. “If negations are necessary, or if diplomats are needed in person, they will send them to the Imperial Remnant rather than allow me to returned to Csilla.” Emboldened by the tranquility of the scene, a bubble of hope filled her mind. “Then your parents—” “My father would never request it,” Jag said heavily, “despite what Mother would wish. It would be akin to exiling himself, and my father would never do anything to take Mother away from the safety of the Chiss.” Unbelievable sights Indescribable feeling “I’m sorry,” she murmured, laying her head against his shoulder. “I shouldn’t have brought it up.” He glanced down at her, a smile playing across his lips. “I would have been surprised if you hadn’t,” he admitted. Jaina stiffened at his tone. “We’re not talking about Jacen,” she declared. “Not Jacen. Not Darth Caedus. Not today.” Jag looked at her for another moment, and then shrugged. “Alright,” he said. “Alright?” she looked at him incredulously, raising her head an inch off his shoulder. “You’re giving up?” He chuckled. “I wouldn’t call it giving up. Just trying a new…tactic.” Before she could process the statement, Jaina found his lips pressed against hers in a soft kiss. Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling Through an endless diamond sky It felt like it had the first time—a lightening of burdens and of spirit. Except that, the last time, he had taken away her self-imposed isolation. This time, he took away her loneliness—promised her forgiveness for everything she had done to him. He offered her a path away from destiny—a path away from everything that had shaped her life for the last ten years—and a chance for her to finally chose her own duty. Selfishly—gratefully—she took it, and kissed him back. A whole new world Don't you dare close your eyes A hundred thousand things to see Hold your breath - it gets better I'm like a shooting star I've come so far I can't go back to where I used to be “So?” she whispered when the kiss ended. “The last time we did this…” “We’ll make it work,” Jag promised, taking her hands and gripping them tightly. “If nothing else,” he added with a trace of humor, “I have more control over my own schedule now.” Jaina laughed, playing with his fingers. “I saw my mother while she was the Chief of State. Tell me that again in a few months, after you’ve had some proper arguments with the Moffs.” He mock-glared at her. “Don’t avoid the issue, Jaina.” She smiled at him. “I’m not,” she said. A whole new world Every turn a surprise With new horizons to pursue Every moment red-letter I'll chase them anywhere There's time to spare Let me share this whole new world with you To her surprise, it was true. She could have trudged through life looking at Allana and the ravages of her brother’s reign. She could have lived through decades of rebuilding, decades of traveling from planet to planet to help those that her brother had hurt. What she had dreaded, however, was to have to do it alone. She had dreaded watching Jag as the head of the Imperial Remnant, fading away under the mantle like so many other leaders. She had dreaded wondering if could have prevented it, could have saved him. He had just proved to her that she would never need to. Nice to see Jaina and Jag wrestling with the events of Invincible but not paralyzed by them. They're interaction was very sweet and I really enjoyed the humor you slipped in and the great use of the song. I got this song a few weeks ago, and it just sat around in the back of my mind with no inspiration; then, when I was updating this profile and glancing through one of my old songfics, inspiration hit.
