Okay, I have just had the worse day of, well, my life today. I was driving to work and my only reliable car started bucking and doing all sorts of weird things. I prayed quickly that I got to work and luckily made it there. I called my wife and she came and took the car to the shop to see what was wrong. They said they would look at it later and she took our unreliable car (the one that doesn't shift out of second gear) to work. At around 11 a.m. she got a call from that mechanic and my worst fear came true. The engine on my Ford Escort Wagon is shot. We pulled the ring on the fourth piston. Engine is shot and it would cost twice as much to repair it as the car is worth. CRAP!!! But, that's not the worst part. Here it is:
Because of my car being out of commission I will not be able to go to Syracuse Heroes Expo (that's why I want to cry). Ian I'm sorry if you're reading this, but I will be contacting you about this. With my car out of commission, the $350 I had set aside to spend at the convention is now lost. On top of that, I already paid for a ticket and don't have a ride there! To make matters worse, even if I could go, I wouldn't be able to buy anything while I was there. I am so TOTALLY DEPRESSED right now it makes me want to vomit. I was so looking forward to meeting Ray Park and going to my first ever Star Wars convention and now my dream is totally lost. Somehow now my wife and I are going to have to work a car payment into our budget and go without some amenities like the Platinum package of cable, etc. (which is the only vice I really have in life). I'm sorry guys. Trust me, this hurts me more than it hurts any of you. I don't even know how I'm going to be able to do Marching Band over the next two weeks. {tears streaming down the face}

I'm so sorry to hear about your awful car trouble. 
Do you live near any of the other Bingo guys so that maybe you could hitch a ride up north with?
I think you really could have a fantastic time without spending too much money. The minimum would be admission (which you already bought - and see my upcoming PM about), food (unless you pack something), gas and a Ray Park autograph (if you wanted one it would be probably $25 but you could still meet him without getting an autograph). You could still have tons of fun meeting and hanging out with fellow SW fans.
If you really can't make it, we have plenty of people who could buy your ticket off of you.

I agree with Doc Bev on this. Charles and I are still going and you have your ticket. I wont be spending a lot there anyway. Still come with us. We can take you.

Okay, problem solved. I am going with Charles and Ian and have a ride up and back and I already have a pre-paid ticket, so I might as well go. It might help me get my mind off of everything that's going on at home. Thanks guys and I'll see you all there. Can't wait!

Man I've been there more than once, My wife dosen't drive & we only have one vehicle, so if something goes wrong with it , I'ts a major problem. I'm glad to hear you are still coming It'll be great to meet you. Don't feel funny about packing a cooler with some food for lunch, a bunch of us do. If we do a after con dinner maybe we can try to look at resonably priced places.
Anyways it'll work out & you can use Sunday, to let get things off your mind & just have fun geeking out with all of us. Take care & see you Sunday!
