MusicTrooper posted: I wonder if Disney is waiting to see who wins the current format wars between,
Blue-ray and HD-DVD?
They're part of the Blu-ray Association, so I think that pretty much declares who they've sided with. (Did a project on BD, was big news when Disney joined up.)

Im not worried. Unless BR starts lowering the cost of a movie, currently $30-40 each( at Best Buy, CC )HD will win by a land slide. HD is cheaper to make thus cheaper to buy. I have 4 HD movies so far. Even if BD wins, Ill buy a PS3 ....Crap Did I just say that???

I'm suddenly reminded of my determination to see this before Oscar night. That and The Departed, but only after I see the original.

Tim and I seen Children of Man today.
Um ..Im not sure If I liked it or not. It is incredibly sad to think the everything in this movie could happen, thus I think I left the theater a little depressed. Just the thought of 70% of the pop could be in death camps is...well..I dont want to think about it.
This movie hits SD,HD, in March so any one that is interested can check it out.
I will say Micheal Cane is GREAT in the time he had.
Disclaimer:
This is MHO.I am not forcing it on anybody so please, No flaming. Thanks
PS
ED... Disney is fully backing BD only. Pirates is coming out in May, Both of them.

saw this as I flew through Bloomington on my way to Columbus, IN.
BREACH
The creepy religous angle mentioned earlier on this thread,
is a major part of the "catch the most dangerous spy in the CIA story"
based on ....Inspired by the true story of the greatest security breach in U.S. history
I thought it was a very basic and well made spy flick, with the added
interest of being based on a true story.
You can probly wait to see it air on TV, as there seemed to be nothing too
offensive.
Robert Hanssen, escaped the Death Penalty, but is now in solitary
confinement 23-hours a day for life.
Ed
ps, he was also,
Hanssen was a supernumerary member of Opus Dei.
sorry, no DaVinci code connection:-)

I do like Mob movies, I hated the entire movie because of the ending. To me, If a movie has a bad ending and I mean something awful happens to main characters ,Then Ill hate the hole thing. I.E , "Seven" with Brad Pitt/Morgan Freeman.

Well, once I see the original, I'll let you know if it has a better ending. Maybe you'll like it more.

No offense, Eric...but, sometimes bad things do happen to people, whether they're good or bad...it's a part of life. We don't always experience "happy endings", and because art imitates life, not every film can have a "happy ending"...nor should they. It's simply not appropriate to certain stories/films.
Second, if you really are allowing yourself to "hate" "The Departed" simply because of the ending...then, I fear you're not allowing yourself to enjoy some of the most incredible acting, writing, directing, and cast chemistry that can be witnessed on film in many years.
Third, if you let the ending of "The Departed" "ruin" the film for you...then, I think you've missed the point of the ending and the entire film for that matter. Same thing goes for "Se7en"...you missed what the filmmakers were trying to "tell you" and perhaps the real message of their film. There are times when a violent or tragic ending is necessary to that particular piece of art...and both of these films are classic examples of that. It's part of the message of the film. You may not like the message or the finale because of it, and you are certainly entitled to your opinion...but, to allow yourself to "hate" such amazing films merely because you didn't "agree" with the artisitic choice of amazing directors (like Fincher and Scorsese) to utilize tragic endings in order to "hammer home their message"...well, I think that's unfortunate.

I totally understand that. But, like I said, that's life. Bad things DO happen to good people. To hide from that fact and that reality only weakens us as people and as a society. To face the darkness and horror in life will, in the long run, make you stronger.
