For fans of the Han Solo book trilogy, author A.C. Crispin will be at Louisville's annual sci-fi/fantasy convention, ConGlomeration, April 18-20.

And for those of us who are also fans of the original Star Trek series, actor Walter Koenig (Chekov) will also be in attendance for the weekend!

Needless to say, I'll be there.

It's for anything that falls under the sci-fi/fantasy genre. They've had panels on Lord of the Rings, writing professionally, Wenches & Rogues, etc. The programs vary year to year, as do the guests. Two years ago they had author Harry Turtledove as a guest of honor (he's a big name in the alternate history genre) and this past year they had Ben Bova. This is the first year where they've gotten a big-name actor, that I know of. They have a gaming room, dealer's room, and costume Masquerade (a few years back there was an entry that had Luke battling the Hoth ice monster, and there have been Padmes and Vaders in the past.) They show the Rocky Horror Picture Show every year, and there's a 24-hour Con Suite that serves snacks and drinks to anyone with a Con badge. They give out free t-shirts to volunteers for 6 hours of work...

It's a fun little convention, and this is their first year doing it in April. In the past, it was always in mid-August, but that's big convention season in the Midwest, so attendance rates really dropped in past years, hence the decision to move the date (plus, it'll be a lot cooler in April).
