Did u guys see that SC-FI channel changed to SyFy?

I was very sad about this when it was announced a few weeks back.

I don't get the channel whether I'm in Bloomington or home though, so I've ceased to really care about it. General consensus seems to be that it's a dumb move for the company.

SciFi has shown wrestling for years, it's really nothing new. It used to be part of their late-evening programming.

Anyone in the group watch Doctor Who? Torchwood? Or, Rassilon forbid, The Sarah Jane Adventures?

I gotta ask, I'm going nuts over all the new stuff.

Doctor Who is all kinds of amazing, especially if you love an element of cheesiness and camp with your quality sci-fi stories. The classic series (1963 through the late 80's) has its ups and downs and can get a little repetitive, but the new series (started in 2005) is absolutely perfect, in my mind.

I think the best part of the story is that if it starts to get stale, you can always change the cast. The Doctor can "regenerate" when he's dying, rewriting his molecular blah-blah, and basically make himself into an entirely new person. New face, new personality, but same memories. So every few years there's a new actor and a new interpretation to keep things fresh and interesting. (They also change the people the Doctor travels through time and space with, so that keeps the show going as well.)

For anyone with NetFlix, the first three seasons of New Who are available for Instant Watch, as are a bunch of the old Classic Who stories. (I recommend checking out the ones with Tom Baker, the 4th Doctor, and Peter Davison, the 5th Doctor.)

(Sorry for the novel-length comment... I get a bit enthusiastic about the Doctor.)

There was some intersting Iron Man 2 stuff at Comic Con. And Oliva Munn looked great in all the outfits.
But seriously ... They had a cool segment on first issue's of Superman, Spiderman and X-Men.

Marvel needs to release those clips they showed asap. I need to see if Scarlett ruined Black Widow.

I would love to see Marvel do a Doctor Strange movie.

I also got to discussing how Iron Fist and Powerman could make a killer movie. Keep it kind of spoofy and light heated. I could definitely see Owen Wilson or the like as an Iron Fist and perhaps a straightman as Powerman... maybe someone like Sam Jackson, other than he has already been cast in the marvel movies.

My science-fiction film professor mentioned this today; there was a round of "Oh noes!" from half the class.

Did anyone watch Stargate: Universe on Friday? I think it seems like a darker version of Lost in Space.
