    Wow.

I think I just failed an exam for the first time in my life.

    Bugger.

Find a hardcover to take it out on! Don't miss an opportunity like this! Seriously.

You know what helps, Ulicus? Fear. Pure dread fear. My remuneration teacher cheerfully advised us that half of us would likely fail, and did we think there'd be enough places next semster with the next class to fit us in? Fear.... She teased me, flirted me, pillaged and plundered my soul.... but I lifted my chin, put aside Starcraft and my ridiculous attempts to beat Desann on hardest level, and stared that fake maiden back in the eye. Fear ruled me that half year. I didn't so much as study as memorised every class note there was. Don't know how I did in that final exam. I think I Katarned it good. Got a credit for the subject---"module" as they liked to technically call it. Don't know if that helps, Ulicus, but giving in to emotion is sort of like a covert ops: you explore it, then you master it. And the clarity of mind you get from it gives you that confidence boost to take in on and win. Don't frown your mouth with disappointment, rather frown your brow with determination to do better. And you will. i think what I'm trying to say is that a good way of beating a subject is to fear it so badly you harness the emotion overload and to... sort of trick yourself into knowing you won't fail and you just won't.

I think he's talking about the icons...

    Possibly. One can never tell.

Or is it one never can tell...

They sleep either in "midair" keeping very still, or settle on the bottom and also keeping still. No, they can't close their eyes.

No eyelids. Get's tricky trying to find something else to close your eyes with.

Though technically they do have eye coverings, just not lids - clear filmy little things, which are protective but still let light in so that they have a defense against attacks even while sleeping. Sneaky little things.

Am I the only one who loves this song?

Also, the social thread all the way back on the third page? Slackers. [face_shame_on_you]

Okay, to avoid the shame you're throwing around, I can let everyone know I just passed my oral candidacy exam in my doctoral program. [face_dancing]
Now all I have to do is come up with a dissertation topic by May. [face_worried]

I just watched The Crying Game, having known what the twist is for several years. It really does damage the film.

I mean, as soon as Stephen Rea pulled that photo out of Forest Whittaker's pocket, I said "That thar's a man."

EDIT: Crap, I could've sworn that link pointed to a TFN post.

They're a lot less coherant over there, you'd have a field day Ex.

EDIT: Quest just unlocked it, thanks!

And I just watched the inaugeration, it's 5am here and I'm about to go to bed.

I remember thinking how bad the dialogue was matched to the mouth movements. It didn't even look like they tried.

Assuming you mean the US inauguration, I have to ask: why would an Australian watch?

Also, the benediction was pure concentrated badass.

Why not? And I'm not the only Aussie that got up early to watch it.
