After watching that we HAVE to have a movie trilogy in that time period.

My biggest fear is that lightsaber battles are going to be just like KoToR. One thing I loved about SP Jedi Knight was the sabers would clash.. made it feel like a real duel... in kotor... you actually hit the guy (several times if using flurry) and he takes dmg... really kills the lightsaber duels for me.

I gotta say... the music helped to make this video feel so epic.
And how they smoothly transitioned from Duel of the Fates to Anakin's Betrayal was beautiful.

Wow! Yeah, the majestic music of JW always helps Tim, haha. So is this connected to the KOTR games or is this totally seperate?

What can I say... I'm a sucker for JW music. Specially Duel of the Fates and Battle of Heros.

And yes, it is connected to KOTOR. It takes place like a hundred years or so after KOTORII

Um... well... the visuals are amazing, but the story and continuity issues really botter me. I recntly read the timeline for this era and don't remember anything about the Republic Falling. thinking But what do I know, I've never been a fan of this era, anyway. rolling_eyes Plus, I think I'm getting tired of the whole Jedi vs Sith thing. Well mabe just the "vs Sith" part.

Some like to think the death of the Emperor led to a post-defeat-of-Sauron-like vulnerability in the troops.

Nobody truly knows how the Jedi Order was originally founded either. Adding unknown details to an already known section of time doesn't really upset continuity.
And the republic never actually falls in this game. Coruscant gets sacked and the Republic then signs the famous Treaty of Coruscant. I can't seam to find it in the official star wars timeline but I remember reading about it before Old Republic was ever announced. I never knew what it was until the game was announced though.

You should get to know this era the stories and the history of star wars is well told. Plus it is good to see those stories being told.

you are right they were told through the visons from kriea (darth Traya) from KOTOR 2 sith lords.

"You must go where Revan did, into the Unknown Regions, where the Sith, the true Sith, wait in the dark for the great war that comes."
?Kreia, to the Jedi Exile[src]

With the Sith Empire's defeat in the Great Hyperspace War, the Sith were on the verge of collapse. But one Dark Lord escaped the Republic and made it to the Unknown Regions. There, he re-founded the Empire, himself assuming the title of Sith Emperor, and created a council of other Sith Lords. Using the power of the dark side, the Emperor kept himself alive for over a thousand years after the Great Hyperspace War, rebuilding the Empire's strength and waiting for a chance to avenge the Sith's defeat.

The Republic, meanwhile, was challenged in a number of wars over the next few thousand years, including the war with Exar Kun, battles with Mandalorians, war with Darth Revan and the upheaval of the Kanz Disorders.

In the year 3,681 BBY, the Sith Emperor saw that the chance for revenge against the Republic and the Jedi had come, and launched an invasion of the Republic.

The conflict
A small Republic fleet during the Rimma Trade Route blockade.
The True Sith's invasion caught the Republic by surprise. The Sith seized many worlds in the Outer Rim Territories and destroyed the shipyards at Sluis Van.
Battlegrounds included Ilum, Dathomir, and Manaan, the latter seeing its surface cities destroyed, despite attempts to remain neutral. The Republic was further defeated at Agamar and Utapau, and continuously harassed. A heroic struggle on Bothuawi helped slow the Sith invasion. However, the war was further complicated by the appearance of a Mandalorian fleet in alliance with the Sith. This fleet blockaded the Rimma Trade Route setting Republic efforts back. This blockade, however, was broken by a combined Republic-Smuggler alliance led by Hylo Visz.

Sith troopers marching in battle.

Decades after the war started, the Dark Council gave the Republic a surprising offer: the chance to negotiate peace. The Republic could not afford to ignore this opportunity, and the Jedi Council agreed to it, seeing the war was unwinnable. But while diplomats on both sides opened talks on Alderaan, an elite Sith army invaded Coruscant and held the planet hostage. With no other choice, the Republic diplomats signed the uneven Treaty of Coruscant.

Aftermath

"Thus began the unprecedented stalemate. The Jedi reconnecting with their roots, the Republic nursing its wounds, the Sith consolidating their power in a galaxy divided between darkness and light."
?Jedi Master Gnost-Dural[src]

The division of worlds agreed upon in the treaty.
The treaty forced the Republic to give up many outlying systems to the True Sith Empire. Although his Empire was stronger than ever, the Sith Emperor no longer seemed to desire total conquest. He handed over control of the Empire to the Dark Council, a body of twelve Sith Lords who would oversee the day-to-day affairs of state. The Dark Lord went on to pursue his own mysterious goals as the Sith consolidated their power.
By the end of the war, thousands of Jedi were dead. The Galactic Republic focused its anger on the Jedi, blaming the order for its defeat at the hands of the Sith. Though they were still committed to defending the Republic, the surviving Jedi chose to return to their homeworld of Tython.
The end of the Great Galactic War set the stage for a Cold War between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic in the years that followed. This cold war saw a number of border skirmishes and proxy wars, pushing the two super powers to the brink of another war.

This all leads up to the Republic signing controll of the republic to the Jedi and after the defeat of the sith thanks to Darth Bane the jedi put non-jedi back in controll and returned power to the senate.

Palpatine was not the only one to have complete controll of the senate but at least the jedi did give controll back to the people after the war was over.

Nice overview there dude!

While many people may be tired of the Jedi vs Sith story.. it's a huge story the sets the stage for the rise of Darth Bane and everything we know about Star Wars. This is where history took a major turn for the worse making the rise of the Sith again with Darth Siduous inevitable.
Now I say this because had the republic not been beaten and signed the Treaty of Coruscant... the Brotherhood of Darkness may have never been formed and thus not given rise to Darth Bane.

It'll be interesting to basically live in this time frame and truely understand a lot of the history in the galaxy.

The discusion on this thread upsetted me so much, I left these boards for two weeks!!! I just really don't like Sith, sometimes! I have some respect for Sidious (and his aprentices) but the rest I really don't care for! I still like the Jedi, I just think the Sith our overdone.

Uh the Sith are very much a major part of Star Wars history and lore. Not to discuss them would be like writing a history of World War II and leaving out Hitler.

I've noticed that Dan is more into the future time lines such as New Jedi Order with the Yukzon Vong invasion.
