I have been approached by Phil with a proposal for an large scale appearance at the Riviera Theater on April 26. His original idea was to have a "performance" by us with trivia contests, phot ops, Jedi Academy, a duel, and costume contest for non-members. He was ready to contact local companies to sponsor the day and fund the largest pieces needed for the day: rental of the Riv and rental of ANH. Unfortunately, the Riv could not secure the film. I was uable to help, even with some sweet talking to Steve Sansweet. 
Phil still plans to move ahead with planning an big event for us on this day.
He suggested promoting:
- FanFilm contest
- well known FanFilm creaters to come and show their films
- Indian Jones (new movie opening this summer)
In order for this event to go over well, we will need to plan quite a bit and make sure we have enough volunteers (both in & out of costume)to staff the event. This will take a lot of time to coordinate.
Before we move forward, is there any interest in an event like this? I've also sent this to GE. It would be great to have a variety of costumes for the day.

When the idea was first presented, it was said that we are looking at an afternoon to evening presentation. Ballpark time would be anywhere from 1pm to 10pm.

I'm not sure at this point, but remembered your connections and personal films.  I do know that the NR film was already discussed and would be included. We could also put another together, but we'd have to get crackin'!
If anyone has any ideas, please post them and I'll pass them on to Phil. As we get more ideas, Phil would like to get together with everyone and see what we can all do to help.

One thing I'd like to see are themed groups of costumes. yes Gil, this would be a perfect time to gather the mafia! 5 or 6 stormtroopers with Vader & Imperial Officers; Han, Chewie, Luke & Leia; Emperor and several Royal Guards; Obi Wan & Anakin; We could recreate scenes from the films with the right costumes attending.

Grey_Starr up in Milton ON might still have his half-scale AT-ST that he built for Halloween a year or two back...
Also, if we do some non-SW films I know some local people who could be included. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure we can get films to show, but if we want people who were involved with them, that may be a little more difficult.
I know a local filmmaker who just premiered a bunch of comedic shorts at the Riviera this past November, and one of them was essentially a Star Trek fan film (though it's funny and universal enough that non-Trekkies would like it too)

that actually brings up a good question - is this going to be an all-day thing, or only a few hours?
