Should we set a time limit on some fan films (if that's the route we go)? I mean we could probably get some of the longer ones (that would near an hour in running time). I'm not opposed to them, as I love fan films. But I know some people might not wanna sit there for most of the day just for a few films.

Bryan, I'll ask and see what Phil thinks. It might work best with a handful of short films (run time 5 - 15 minutes) and end the day with a long film (1 hour).
Wingnut suggested a BF2 tournament.

We have the ballpark of 1-10, but do we plan on having the event run that whole time? I mean I could see maybe 2-4 hours of fan films, depending on what we got (If I could get good copies of The Formula and Revelations, that would be almost 2 hours right there, and I already have a copy of Reign of the Fallen, which is also over an hour).
The gentleman in St. Catharine's making the Boba Fett fan film Uprising said he might be able to have something to show if this developed, but it wouldn't be more than a few minutes. Still, with enough planning it would be cool to have the filmmaker there. 
If we wanted to use up all the time, perhaps we could do the video game tournament in the early afternoon and save the fan films for evening. The only problem is those are two VERY different types of events with different setups. I would almost shoot down the gaming tournament entirely only because if we have access to a theatre as nice as the Riviera, we might as well show something that would be cool to see in a theatre. Nothing against video games, but the Riv isn't set up for them. Could it be made to? Possibly, but we couldn't really do both without some time in between. Not to mention a large number of computers/gaming consoles & controllers, screens, etc.
An exhibition (film or otherwise) would be a better logistical choice for the space we have.
Another idea, which could be implemented: When the screen is not down, the stage there seems pretty nice. could make for a good live dueling opportunity...

Bryan, keep those film options open. We may need your connections.
I am collecting any and all ideas at thsi time and will sit down with Phil and the Riv to cut that list based on a number of considerations (time, space, availability of resources.)
We could still hold a small tournament outside the theater area. With 2 tv sets and 2 XBOX, 4 people could play at a time. I'm not sure how much demand is there for the tourny, so we could keep it small. Keep a winners bracket and maybe show the final battle on stage with a larger screen?
I hope to have some answers to pass on next week with regards to the time of th event. In the meantime, keep those hamsters running!

Chris, I would love to do this event, but as my suspicions confirmed me, that weekend is Easter weekend for me - I'm Ukrainian Orthodox and that weekend is actually Easter according to the Julian calendar. I usually do stuff on Saturday for prep on Sunday, but I'll see what I can get out of doing. Put me down as tentative.
