Finished Revelations last week, and I have to say - it's my LEAST favourite book of the series. Nothing that happened was a surprise, nor did the events move the story along much IMHO. But those of us who have read it can chat about it Saturday at Jaeger's bash....

Thanks to a 'heads up' from ShatirLavan, it seems Invincible has been released earlier than it's May 13th date.
I picked up mine from Chapters today - can't wait to see how it ends!!! (although I thought it would be thicker.... )

Finished Invinciable last night.
I am sorely disappointed. I won't say why, because some of you are still reading the series, but....man...I was hoping for more. Much, MUCH MORE

I loved it. Very emotional ending. There were some things I wanted to happen and didn't but other then that I thought it was great. I hope the Falcon book is good...

I just finished Invincible. I'm happy with how it turned out. There are still some loose ends here and there, but I suppose it couldn't have 20 endings like Lord of the Rings. Peter, I guess one of your predictions was almost correct, though it was off by...one second. I, for one, am ready for a few good stand alone novels now (excluding Order 66 of course). The Falcon book should be cool. I can't wait to see what else is on the list.

Looks like the Millenium Falcon book, due out in December of this year, will take place TWO years after the events of LotF. I find that odd - what about inbetween??

Finished up Jedi Twilight: Coruscant Nights a couple of days ago.
Better than I expected - great opening chapter! I won't look at Even Piell the same again - much respect for the diminutive Jedi Master!!
Loved the Vader bits, and learning about the history of some of the Jedi. Nice tie-ins to the MedStar series and the stand-alone Windu novel (Shatterpoint). Am looking foward to the next one.
The only minor gripe has to do with the pacing of the story. They set up great cross-stories (like with Legacy) but seem to rush the ending too much.

Found some great Clone Wars tie-in at Chapters. The Clone Wars Visual Guide is a great looking book - and at just $22, is a pretty good price too. BE WARNED: If you don't want to know about the upcoming movie, don't flip thru it yet. I made the mistake of doing that and it kinda ruined a scene I didn't know about - but at the same time, makes me ache with NEED to see in on the big screen!!!
Also picked up a couple of kids books too - The New Padawan (Ahsoka focused, obviously), and the book adaptation of the movie. Certainly geared towards the younger fans, but has fantastic pics. Great way to hook the younglings in!!

Just picked up the Karen Travis novelization of CLONE WARS at Costco for $12.99 (hardcover). I was at the south location - they had about 50 left.

I finished the Clone Wars novel the other day. While Karen Traviss is not one of my favourite authors, I did find this book one of her better offerings.
My only gripe is that she spends too much time on describing battles and what the troops are thinking, and skips out on the rest of the characters. She did spend some quality time on Anakin's character (which was great!), but I think that's only because he's the leader of the 501st (obviously her favourite division/battalion/group/squad??). She all but ignored Kenobi, Ahsoka and the others. Seeing as how many of the clones adopt the behaviours and characteristics of their Jedi Generals, I think Traviss could've spent more time expanding on those Generals and the relationships with their troops.. Here's hoping further books will capitalize on that
Clone Wars has definitely broadened my respect and understanding of the troops that fought for the Jedi and the Republic. I very much enjoyed reading about their comraderie, dedication and fierceness.

Well Traviss tends to gravitate more toward the clone troopers anyway; she has a real appreciation of them from her works in the Republic Commando series, so it's natural she'd gravitate more toward them in the adaptation.
I will say however that I was pleasantly surprised by her handling of the Jedi Knights in the book as well as Palpatine. Her insights into Anakin's motivations and how he deals with the dark and violent things he does in the name of the 'greater good' were very telling. And Palpatine shows us just how much he owns the whole show, playing both sides against the middle and actually finding himself rooting a bit for both. . .
Entertaining stuff, well worth checking out. 4/5 from me.
