The below article posted at the Baltimore Business Journal might be welcome news to East Coast fans:
Baltimore has a shot of snagging a "Star Wars" fan convention that would rank among the city's largest gatherings, drawing as many as 35,000.
Lucasfilm Ltd., creator of the "Star Wars" series, is eyeing Baltimore for a four-day convention to be held either spring 2009 or spring 2010. Winning the convention would boost Baltimore's tourism business because of its size and media attention surrounding "Star Wars," one of the biggest pop culture phenomenons, local tourism experts said.
"It would be a great coup for Baltimore," said Melissa "Missy" Geppi-Bowersox, executive vice president of Geppi's Entertainment Museum. The Camden Yards pop culture museum houses many "Star Wars" collectibles and is expected to draw attendees from the convention. "We're talking about generations upon generations who loved the movies," Geppi-Bowersox said.
Baltimore is competing with Minneapolis, Chicago, Indianapolis and Orlando, Fla., for the fan gathering to be known as Celebration V, said Steve Sansweet, director of content management and head of fan relations for Lucasfilm.
So it looks like LA is out of the running altogether which sucks alittle but it really doesn't matter where it is I'm there.

Here! Here! Wherever it is, I'll be there. Might have to make the trip a little longer to check out the city it happens to be in. Florida would be fun - Disneyland!!

All I hope is the date works. Flights are still rising in price but to all the places listed were looking around 350-350. But maybe we can price line it and complain later.

Doesn't matter where it is for me I'll be making the trip for sure. I think Orlando would be cool to go to as disney has star tours and after the con you can spend a day or two checking it out. But Indy would be good too as everything is around the convention center hotels, a mall, loads of places to eat, and everything is within walking distance of each other.
So let's hope the announcement comes out after CJapan and we can get to the planning stage. I'm hoping for 2009 as the sooner the better but that's just me.

Actually, it's Disneyworld what's in Florida, not Disneyland.
