I think he's just following the military tradition of calling people by their last names. It is WAR after all raised_brow

True, but he refers to General Kenobi as 'Obi-Wan' in each one of their dealings together. I don't think I've seen Yoda refer to Anakin by anything other than his surname in either the films or the micro-series.

I dunno, it just struck me as interesting. I'm weird like that. chicken

I think that's because Obi-Wan is more of a friend to Yoda, and closer to being an equal than Anakin is. Anakin is still just the hotheaded kid who thinks he knows everything. Plus, Obi-Wan is a master, Skywalker is not.

That's a valid point Shawn - Obi Wan and Yoda are Jedi Masters. And Anakin was made a Jedi Knight just after the Clone Wars began. It seems rank plays an important part in the Order as well as the military.

For those that don't know, DragonCon is a huge Science fiction/Fantasy/Comic/Pop culture convention. It is also the largest yearly gathering of Star Wars Fans.

This year had some great guests: David Prowse, Jeremy Bulloch, Matthew Wood, Ray Park, Peter Mayhew, Daniel Logan, Steve Sansweet and in a rare appearance, Jake Lloyd. There were several Star Wars authors there too, like Kevin J Anderson and Rebecca Moesta.

For reference, here was the list of Star Wars Programming. http://www.mattersoftheforce.org/schedule08/

I don't have all my pictures up yet, but stay tuned for some great video of Ray Park dancing at the party we attended. You won't look at a lightsaber the same way again.

Video of Ray Park with a Lightsaber at the Wolfpack party we attended last weekend. At the end Daniel Logan comes in and stops him before he goes any further.

LOL! How could I be 15 feet from that and not see it? I knew some guy was dancing with a lightsaber, but I didn't get any closer and didn't realise it was Ray Park until after the fact.

Approve of his choice of dance moves or not, I'm in awe of a place where we can dance and party with, as well as get fashion tips from the likes of Ray Park, Edward James Olmos and Nathan Fillion. wink

I'd prefer to keep my 'illusions of grandeur' regarding my favourite actors, if you please.

Yes.....DragonCon is a more adult convention wink

You never know though, they may turn out to be even nicer and more grand than you imagined. Edward James Olmos turns out to be one of the kindest, classiest, most generous, most fun-loving, most humble fellas ever. I really liked his work before, but now I'm a fan of him.

I was talking to him (after waiting only 5 minutes in line) and he gently excused himself from our conversation, came out from behind his table, joined a bunch of kids taking pictures for a surprise, and then led this sweet 4 year old in a rousing chorus of "So Say We All!" (which he obligingly and with good humor did all over again when the mom realized her camera failed the first time!). Then he came back to me, apologized for the interruption and said some very generous, kind things to me. He came out to the fan party, leading the other BSG stars, and ended his fantastic speech with cries of "We're not worthy" and bowed to his fans. I can say similar things about the times I interacted with some other actors, but EJO really stood out for me this year.

Yeah, D*C can be pretty adult-themed in spots. But the thing is, you don't have to go to those spots. It's big enough and so diverse that any fan can find the convention they want to attend there. That sweet little 4 year old and his family had an excellent time too. You want to just collect autographs and buy stuff? They have it spades. Go to fan panels? Hours and hours of them. Do only Star Wars? Absolutely. Just go to parties? You could do that too. Go to no parties? Indeed, that as well.

I'm pretty sure Ray is just a jeans and t-shirt guy so not to sure what tips you can get from him, the other two I would believe you.

Style isn't just what you wear, it's also your deportment. When Ray entered one of his Q&A panels, he ran off the stage, into the crowd and started doing butterfly kicks with a huge grin on his face.

That's Style. applause

But if you are a collector I've heard there's nothing there and as for the star wars programming in my opinion it was weak. Just the same panels at different times of the day on different days.

Also a huge star wars announcement and no one from our group attends (was a surprise so hard to know ahead of time) and it was the first episode of the new show that's huge. But when cons have so many different fandoms it can be hard to be everywhere if you have many interests. But it did look like a good time maybe some year I'll go with Stacy as he says they have some good comic book stuff. One question was there anyone from Smallville there?.
