And, yes, not SW-related (though you might see the occasional SW minifig hidden in there somewhere).

The Vistas Exhibition is a show at the Glenbow Museum (from June 20 - Sept 20th) that showcases the Railway in the 1900s, as part of Sir John A. MacDonald's vision to link East and West coasts of Canada with a railway.

As part of this the Glenbow Museum approached another group I am with, SALUG, or Southern Alberta LEGO Users Group, and invited us to make a display to support this exhibition. We jumped at this opportunity full well knowing that the timeline would be tight...less than 3 months to design and build 1900s period pieces...and this is a a 10' x 20' display...for a 3 month show...the most we've done is a 2-day show (Supertrain). The Glenbow even made us our tables for this exhibition based on our designs (not all flat) and gave us a location that essentially is between the external glass wall and their inside showcase area. We had a mass set-up last weekend and it was fun to see the traffic walking by and looking as well as the paying guests...I'm thinking they will have to clean the glass wall outside more often what with all the kids trying to get close. They've also encouraged us to evolve the design over the course of the 3 months by adding or changing out items.

While I'm not quite the builder of some of these guys I managed to put together some cool buildings and structures...curved surfaces and textural design as well as some non-conventional techniques...this ain't block-on-top-of-block building anymore.
