I buy my tickets in advance online- then I get there 2-4 hours early opening day or weekend. I chill and just show up an hour beforehand after that.

I'll see the midnight screening here. You can pre-buy tickets, they open about 10 cinema screens at once, so there is no real need to line up more than 4-5 hours before hand.

it's best to buy your tickets aheada time and get there early enough (probly an hour, especially in small dieing cities) and just get in and get a seat =P!

2-4 hours. I waited about the same amount of time for AOTC. It was just enough time for about 3 people to whip out their laptops and portable dvd players and watch the phantom menace while we waited. I believe I played star wars trivial pursuit while waiting, only without the board, the tokens and the dice.

about 6:30 am for the 7:00 am show. what I have done for the last two. both time only about 20 people in the theater.

How can you people possibly wait in line for a day or more? Do you just bring a tent and camp out next to the theater? What about work/school? Do you bring all your food supplies with you? What about showering?
I'm showing up no sooner than a couple hours before it starts.
