If I ever have kids (and I doubt it), I'll have them watch the films I-VI.
I don't think there's any point in trying to shield them from the ESB revelation by going the other route. By the time they get to watch the films, they'll have found out somehow, either from pop culture references, other people or the countless SW memorabilia out there. I certainly knew about the revelation before I first saw the films and it didn't keep me from loving that scene.

I put 1-6, but I may have them watch 5 or 4-5 first so the "I am your father scene is still a surprise."

4-6, and then only 1-3 if they REALLY want to when they're older, but I'll be warning them what a let-down they are.

You 1-6 people are sick. Personally, I'm just going to show them Episode IV. I'm not even sure if I'll tell 'em the other films exist. Maybe V and possibly VI, but I don't think I'd want to ruin Star Wars for them by getting into the prequels. Not unless they really want it.

My first movie was episode three. I saw it in theaters. So I rented the rest and watched them so if or when I have kids I would ask them what they wanted to see first because watching them out of order didn't mess anything up for me.

I supposed if the prequels were good, an interesting order might be 4 1 2 5 3 6.
That way they get introduced to the OT galaxy, then get to meet Anakin in episodes one and two before the revelation in ESB. Episode three then occupies a suspenseful position between ESB and ROTJ.
I think 1-6 is a very tacky, somewhat serial way to view the films. It's a perspective that lends itself a bit to heavily to the idea that the films are orderly, that they can be confined into a chronological saga.

I would go 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6. After having Vader reveal to Luke he's his Daddy, we can then jump into the PT and learn more about young Anakin and his progression to Vader, and then have ROTJ end things off.
