I'm going to show them in the order I saw them: 5, 4, 6, 1, 2, 3
Yep, quite a strange order!

4-6, then 1-3. Because that is the way it should be done.

I've recently been converted to the 4-5-1-2-3-6 approach for showing the movies to those who haven't seen them. I think this has a number of virtues:
- ANH, which I think is still the best introduction to the saga, comes first
- RotJ, with its triumphant ending, comes last (better than having RotS last, I think)
- The surprise that Vader is Luke's father is preserved
- The surprise that Palpatine is Darth Sidious is also probably preserved (although possibly not if one watches the DVD version of 5 with Ian McDiarmid).

Definitely the original trilogy first! How else could they experience the shock of hearing "Luke, I am you're father"?

the thing about not ruining the "i am your father" is that you ruin the "anakin turns into darth vader" and since none of us experienced that shock, we have no idea how powerful it is.

4-6. Then a warning that the quality drops off dramatically, and that they're better off making up their own back story in their heads, the way my generation did for 20 years, then 1-3 if they're still interested.

A perfect world: a house in the Hamptons with two solaria and a horse named Prickely Pete, Dr. van Nostrand as my primary care physician, the O-OT legally available on DVD in a quality worthy of its greatness and Luke the undisputed hero of Star Wars

Hammurabi posted: You 1-6 people are sick. Personally, I'm just going to show them Episode IV. I'm not even sure if I'll tell 'em the other films exist. Maybe V and possibly VI, but I don't think I'd want to ruin Star Wars for them by getting into the prequels. Not unless they really want it.

Your posts are petty and childish, I will let me my kids watch the films in whatever order they prefer to watch them and I am not going to put any pre-conceived notions in their head to which films the general public prefers because I don't give a crap about other people's opinions. If they watch the films and conclude the PT is crap, that is their opinion, if they think the OT or the whole saga is crap it is their opinion, I don't care what way they view the saga, I just care that I have children who capable of independent thought, I don't want to be a lunatic parent forcing my kids to think the same way I do, because I am old and bitter! That is the way you get stupid lazy kids because they are only capable of forming thoughts by what their friends think are what MTV and the popular media think, Imagination and creativity have become no no's, I weep for the future!

Mastadge posted: 4-6. Maybe, if they ever really care or if they're being particularly bad, I'll inflict the prequels on them.
This is by far the best option ever.
