Because you are selecting from cake and pie there is no reason to be specific. These are desserts. Some folks like cake, some like pie, most like both, you must choose from the two.

But the thing is I would pick fruit pie over cake, but I wouldn't pick cream pie over cake. Specification is necessary to achieve a legitimate result!

There is for me to put it up 
If there's a reason behind only including two desserts (like when we did the pancakes and waffles poll, it was because of the push for the p&w forum) then I'll go for it. If it's only because you happen to like those two desserts, then probably not.

They just... Are weirdly similar? I mean, they're round, baked desserts. And they're both delicious. I mean, for some reason, cake and pie just make sense as natural counterparts.
