I assume Girl Scouts go around and give them out or sell them for a good cause. Through that, they've probably become quite well known.
Plus, I'm sure the taste makes them special.

If by good cause you mean helping me pay for beer in Germany, then yes, it's a great cause.

What makes Girl Scout cookie so special?
The troops get 50 cents a box (the boxes are $3.50 this year  ) and the rest goes to . . . you know, not really sure I was only a girl scout for one year, but my sister is this year.
And to whoever asked, the options plus a new one are the current list.
