THE duel, Anakin v. Obi-Wan. For sheer emotional intensity.
But for total geekgasm nerdiness, you can't beat Duel of the Fates.

The pure emotion of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalkers' Duel in Cloud City, for me, is the better of any of the other lightsaber encounters, while Vader and Obi-Wan aboard the Death Star comes a close second. Yes, the others are both technically faster and more up-tempo, but the importance of both of the above mentioned fights within the context of the saga, and especially the lighting and cinematography of the Cloud City duel, gives it my vote.
I second this. Flashy sabre work might have been impressive on TPM opening night, but it's fairly boring now. The only PT duel that holds a candle to any of the OT duels is Obi-Wan/Anakin in RotS, but I still find Luke/Vader (both, really, but I'm picking TESB) significantly more powerful.

Luke/Vader (ESB). While not the most intense, it was the darkest battle. I mean just look at it, Vader trying to kill his own son. How more bad can you get?

Voted for Yoda vs. Dooku just because it was hilarious to see Yoda flip all over the place, and was (in my opinion, sadly) one of the best parts, if not the best, part of the film.

Very tough call. I voted for the Theed battle. The Mustafar duel is a close second.
Kind of ironic that Obi-Wan succeeded in killing Maul while the Sith Lord had the "high ground" in a very similar move to Anakin's failed attempt on Mustafar. Of course, Obi-Wan had the element of surprise vs. Maul with Qui-Gon's sabre, and the advantage of knowing what Anakin would try in his arrogance.

I have always liked the Obi/Qui/Maul saber fight in TPM the best. It has such high energy and defined Sith style vs. Jedi style of fighting. Plus you can't beat the music.  DOTF! This whole sequence blew me away when I first saw it in 1999 and I still find myself holding my breath from time to time!

Even though the duel between Luke and Vader in ESB will always be my personal favorite, I still believe DOTF is the greatest of them all.

Luke vs Vader in ROTJ
It may not include such fancy moves like those in the PT, but it works wonderful on an emotional level. There's so much desperation as everything hinges on whether Luke will resist the temptation of the dark side.
