My greatest fear is of people I care about dying or having horrible things happen to them. But that's not really a phobia as the term's usually used. In terms of phobias, I'm a touch claustrophobic. Actually, it's more about being in crowds than about small spaces in general (I bet there's actually another name for that, but I think in my case at least they're closely related), most of the time, though they both come and go. Sometimes, it won't effect me at all, and sometimes, I'm surprised when I start to feel panicky.

I always heard public speaking was the number one fear, and death number two.  That's what I heard in my speech class, anyway, and Jerry Seinfeld has talked about in in his stand-up routine.
Anyway, I voted for claustrophobia. Mostly just small tunnels. I did not look forward to McDonald's Playplaces as much as some kids.  And truly crowded crowds bother me, but it takes a heck of a tight pack to set that off.

I like spiders. Well, many spiders I am neutral about, but there are some that are truly beautiful, and in general I see spiders as Good Guys in the war against other bugs. My fiancée can't stand them, so we've worked out a system whereby I have to come take care of them whenever she asks, but I can take them outside and let them go and she won't kill them.
The bugs that get to me most are centipedes and millipedes. Something about all those legs, and the way they move. I tolerate most kinds of bugs okay. But centipedes and millipedes I just can't tolerate. And roaches I always kill as well.

Claustrophobia. When I was a little boy, I got stuck in a really long, enclosed slide.
Speaking of roaches, I never use to have a problem with them until Tyi recently told me they could fly.

SOCIOPHOBIA: Fear of people or social situations.
Not so much people, social or even public speaking. I totaly fear going to court, because it doesn't matter if I'm right or wrong it just never goes my way.

Of those ten, acrophobia is the one I have the most trouble with. But it's oddly inconsistent. When I went to C4 this past spring, I flew for the first time and adored it (yay for window seats!) and stayed in a 10th story hotel room and loved the view. On the other hand, being on a second story balcony or driving on an overpass can make me hyperventilate, and when I have a nightmare, it's usually about being out in the open in high places. I guess it only bothers me when it seems like there's a possibility of falling.
