I am still interested in the wrestling draft. I actually just bought Bret Harts book and wow, it really changes your view on the wrestling world. Stu Hart was the Mickie of the wrestling world

So, EF, your response wasn't clear.
Were you laughing a lolcano because you thought it was such a ridiculous idea, or because you thought it was such a fun and brilliant idea?
Also, Animal Faceoff draft could be awesome ... but I can see where logistics could suck. hard.

The latter.
Yeah. Basically, as far as I got was breaking it up into Insectoid/Land based/Water based/Air based.
But, you know, getting an insect list together is just impossible, really. The rest are hard enough as it is.
Could just not even do a list, and have people pick their own animals. I can't imagine an animal being disallowed.

I'll probably post the game tomorrow, but was there anything else that needed to be covered? Was Yak's last post good enough?

Good enough for a trial draft, I'd say.

I think a Lord of the Rings draft has been brought up many times, and as always, the same problem remains: not enough viable and different characters to field enough teams to make it interesting. I mean, really, who wants to judge if Ork #7 beats Ork #6? Sorry, dude.
Anyways, I was doing some thought on this "anti-draft" list I mentioned a few posts back. And I think we should try it. Not sure about where to get a list from, but I have some primitive ideas on that, too.
Anyways, here's what I'm thinking we'll need as far as draft specifics:
Prep Time
Prep time is an optional strategy, just as in normal drafts. However, in this draft, because you really want your characters to lose, so your team can win, everyone is considered to have 24 hours of prep time, including information about their opponent. However, it remains an optional strategy because each GM can choose up to two characters each round to be "unprepared".
Trumps
I'm thinking either trumps need to be not allowed at all (to prevent someone from doing one octuple trump and getting seven forfeits) or be limited to a maximum of one two-character trump per round.
Creating a Draftable List
This is, in my opinion, the largest stumbling block to the draft. I'm thinking it might be easiest to link to the most recent of Movie, Comic Book, Video Game, Anime, and maybe Jedi, and say anyone on those lists is acceptable to be drafted here. In addition, we could limit you to a maximum of three from each list, or something along those line. I think this is preferred to the compiling of a list for a draft like this that should have massive crossover from every draft genre.
I also thought it might be fun to create a Power List and mandate that each team have at least one person from the Power List.
So, thoughts on this?

Trumping is usually held to four forfeits(in eight number games) anyway. So, I think you should be able to do at least four two man, or two three men trumps. Sure, you'll be getting four auto forfeits, but it will be harder to get an anti win with all of those trumps. At the least, I would say three two man trumps should be acceptable.
And the prep thing is pretty funny to me.

How's this look.
Welcome ... to the anti-draft. A draft of a different sort.
Normally, the winning team is the team that drafts the best, strongest, fastest and smartest characters and has the best luck with numbers. In this draft, we're looking for the opposite. Here, you want to draft a team that will lose more often than it wins.
Still, your characters will be going all-out, hoping to win their match. And the judges will judge them as such.
Think you've got what it takes to draft a team of losers? To pick the worst of the worst? To abandon your normal draft thinking and try something completely different?
Then this is the draft for you.
Now, the three positions are the same as usual:
The Commish: He randomizes the draft order, collects numbers, and calls out matches, as well as keeping track of records and helping us advance towards a winner.
The Judges: They judge who wins the matches, and sometimes give grades during drafting, and usually listen to arguments during matches.
The GMs: These eight people are the heart of the draft, as they compile their squads, send in numbers, argue for their matches, and try to advance towards total victory.
Also the same, is the way in which we draft.
We randomize the order, and then each round, we reverse it, and we do that for eight rounds.
So it goes
GM A
GM B
GM C
GM D
GM E
GM F
GM G
GM H
then
GM H
GM G
GM F
GM E
GM D
GM C
GM B
GM A
But ... there are a few things that are different ... besides the strategy.
And those are trumps, prep time, and the draft list.
Normally, there are no rules about trumps.
However, since the point of this draft is to lose a match, we want to avoid a GM getting too many forfeits. As such, trumps can only include a maximum of two characters, and you can use a maximum of three trumps per round.
Prep time is usually reserved for the characters you think will use it best to win their match. As such, you normally get to choose a small number of characters to be prepared.
This being the anti-draft, all characters will be prepared, but you can choose up to two characters (or one trump) to be unprepared for a match. So, you will want to choose wisely!
Finally ... about that draft list. Rather than compile a full draft list for this draft, we're going to allow massive crossover. You can choose any character from any of the Jedi, Movie/TV, Comic Book, Video Game, or Animated drafts, provided they were on the most recently used list. With that said, you may only choose a maximum of three characters from each list.
So, if you're ready to be challenged by a draft literally like no other ... sign up!

Four words: I don't think so.
There was an LOTR suggested way back, and someone (I think it was JediNemesis) came up with a really good list, but it involved a lot of people from books, and IIRC not all from the trilogy. As always, I'm fine with that draft but only if you can get 8 players and three judges.
The anti-draft looks pretty cool. Inty, were you thinking of having it as a full draft or mini?

I'd always suggest having the first run of a draft be a mini, with only 8 GMs. If it shows enough popularity there, then you can expand it to 12 and run a full draft.

I'd like to add some...less than stellar picks to the line up. The most current lists have all trimmed that sort of thing off. I guess it makes it more interesting, but there are a couple of completely helpless people I could think of adding.

I like the sounds of this anti-draft. Interesting diversion from the usual way of things. The required power list pick seems like a good concept to try, too. As for adding some of the weaker characters, perhaps a main list could be created, with the additions on it, with the links to the other drafts providing the rest of the character list?
